DragonForce - Maximum Overload

British epic power metallers DRAGONFORCE will release their new album, "Maximum Overload", on August 19 in North America via Metal Blade and August 18 in Europe through earMUSIC, the Hamburg, Germany-based international rock label which is part of Edel Group. The CD was recorded at Fascination Street studios in Örebro, Sweden with Jens Bogren, who has previously worked with OPETH, THE DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT, AMON AMARTH, KATATONIA, SOILWORK and SYMPHONY X, to name a few. It marks the band's first-ever album involving an outside producer, having historically opted to record themselves in association with Karl Groom.

"Working with Jens gave us a different perspective on the songs and a different sound dynamic," said DRAGONFORCE guitarist Herman Li. "We always previously recorded in our own studios, but recording in Sweden made us focus and maybe drove us harder. Jens certainly did; he doesn't believe in days off!"

He continued: "The album title and album cover artwork is inspired by the constant bombardment of information we are subjected to during our daily lives.

"We were in an airport departure lounge surrounded by TV screens, flight information screens and advertising screens. We then looked around and no one was saying a word, they were all looking at more screens on tablets, laptops and mobile phones. There's no escaping it; it's complete information overload!"

"Maximum Overload" will be released on standard CD, standard digital version, special edition CD with five bonus tracks and a bonus DVD, special edition digital version (same bonus material as special edition CD), and vinyl. The effort features a couple of surprises, notably a guest appearance on some of the songs from TRIVIUM's Matt Heafy.

"We've always gotten on really well with the TRIVIUM guys and it was great when Matt had a couple of days to spare and agreed to weigh in on some of the songs," said DRAGONFORCE bassist Frédéric Leclercq.

"Maximum Overload" also features an all time first for DRAGONFORCE... a cover version! Guitarist Sam Totman explained: "Just before the last Australian tour, our manager suggested it might be interesting to do a cover for the next album, something we've always refused even to consider. Because we had all had a couple beers, every bandmember wrote down three songs each and we compared them all, just for a laugh. I wrote down 'Ring Of Fire' by Johnny Cash, an idea which the rest of the band loved, so we've DRAGONFORCE-ized it."

"Maximum Overload" is the follow-up to 2012's "The Power Within", which was the band's first with vocalist Marc Hudson. Since his live debut with the group in July 2011, Marc has gone on to front over 100 shows with DRAGONFORCE in 32 countries across the globe, including arenas with IRON MAIDEN as well as a mammoth headlining world tour to support the CD.

C'est vrai qu'ils ont un 'nouveau' chanteur depuis plusieurs années, je ne me suis pas du tout intéressé à leur précédent album alors que j'avais écouté l'album du groupe de leur ex-chanteur (I Am I).

Bonne nouvelle, j'avais vraiment bien accroché au précédent "the power within" avec le nouveau lead vocals; Pour l'anecdote j'avais oublié le cd dans le lecteur de la voiture de location que j'avais du prendre pendant la réparation d'une panne de ma titine et malgré un retour à l'agence de loc rapide impossible de le récupérer ! le mec il m'a sorti tout un tas de cd de bruel, lara fabian & co mais pas de dragon force heureusement que j'avais fait une sauvegarde

Ils changent de batteur (ce dernier quitte donc Kill Ritual) :

British epic power metallers DRAGONFORCE have parted ways with drummer Dave Mackintosh and have replaced him with former BRAINDAMAGE and KILL RITUAL member Gee Anzalone.

A native of Turin, Italy, Gee is a drum teacher who graduated from the NAMM Academy of Milan and carries on the well established multi-national mix of musicians that make up DRAGONFORCE.

Gee will make his live debut with DRAGONFORCE on the forthcoming "Maximum Overload" U.K. tour, which commences on September 17 in Edinburgh.

Dave is moving on to pastures new to focus on his first musical love, which is progressive rock. He says in a statement: "After much thought, I have parted ways with the boys in DRAGONFORCE to pursue my first love of progressive rock. I wish the lads all the luck in the world and look forward to the release of 'Maximum Overload' as I truly believe this is the most fantastic DRAGONFORCE album that I and the boys have recorded to date!

"Many thanks to all the fans who have supported me in this last decade of massive tours, countless shows and all the albums. I couldn't have done it without you.

"I will continue to tour and play with some of the greatest names in prog rock, and hope to see some familiar faces on the road!

DragonForce Debut DVD/Blu-ray 'In the Line of Fire'

Multi-national metal maestro’s DragonForce have announced the worldwide release in July of their debut DVD entitled ‘In The Line Of Fire’.

Shot in High Definition during the bands Ultimate Stage headline show at 2014’s Loud Park Festival in the Saitama Super Arena, Tokyo, the band used nine camera angles to capture the raw energy of their show and instrumental dexterity for which they are rightly celebrated worldwide.

The track listing below features a mixture of new songs from the latest album ‘Maximum Overload’ mixed in with foot stomping anthems and lightning fast shred-fests from previous releases.

DragonForce are currently on the Maximum Overload World Tour, which commenced in September 2014 and is due to conclude in 2016.

Throughout their six studio album and multiple world tour history DF have steadfastly refused to shoot a DVD, until now.
Guitarist Herman Li explains,

“We always held the opinion that if we ever did a DVD we wanted to do it properly. Now, having released six studio albums we thought we had a great cross section of material to pick from and we knew the facilities at Loud Park made it a great place to film a show. Everything just came together and we’re very pleased with the results and hope the fans will be also”.
A snapshot of the DVD can be seen by checking out the just released second music video from ‘Maximum Overload’, which is a storming version of ‘Three Hammers’ which was shot at the same show!
The release will be a double disc package of the DVD and accompanying Live Audio CD of the show and will also be available in Blu-ray.

Perso je préfère (largement) depuis qu'il est au chant.

Même si là, bon, c'est un vieux titre, et, bon, comme dire... ça me tape sur les nerfs d'une force monumentale. Au moins ça m'irrite moins qu'avec le chanteur précédent?

En tout cas tu devrais jeter une oreille à leurs deux derniers albums, puisqu'il me semble qu'ils ont fait deux albums avec le blondinet!
