Stratovarius - Polaris

Les finlandais STRATOVARIUS sortiront leur nouvel album "Polaris", le 21 mai. Ce sera leur premier album sans Timo Tolkki, leur ancien compositeur principal psychotique. Il a été mixé par Mikko Karmila. Le groupe partira ensuite en tournée mondiale et un passage en Europe en Janvier 2010 serait déjà programmée. "Polaris" sera le premier album de STRATOVARIUS avec le guitariste de 25 ans, Matias Kupiainen, qui remplace le gros Timo.

ça me fait quand même bizarre de voir Stratovarius sortir un album sans Tokki...

Ok il était devenu un boulet pour le groupe ces dernières années, la séparation se comprend tout à fait, mais quand on y repense il était quand même l'instigateur, le cerveau et l'esprit (enfin, façon de parler

) de Stratovarius depuis 20 ans. J'aurai du mal à m'y faire à ce non-changement de nom justement.

Peut-être que ça sera l'occasion de revenir vers quelque chose plus dans l'esprit Destiny...Mais j'y crois pas trop...En revanche ça ne serait pas du luxe dans le cas contraire de passer à autre chose.

Jens Johansson s'excuse pour ce qu'il a pu dire au sujet de Tolkki, et aurait enterré la hache de guerre avec lui :

According to an online post by STRATOVARIUS keyboardist Jens Johansson, he and ex-STRATOVARIUS guitarist/mainman Timo Tolkki met for dinner this past Thursday night (March 5) in an apparent attempt to bury the hatchet following a bitter Internet war of words over the use of the STRATOVARIUS name.

Timo Tolkki's new band, REVOLUTION RENAISSANCE, will release a new album, "Age Of Aquarius", on March 23 via Scarlet Records. It is described in a press release as "by far the darkest, heaviest and most symphonic album that Tolkki has ever been involved in."

Meanwhile, the remaining STRATOVARIUS members — Timo Kotipelto (vocals), Jens Johansson (keyboards) and Lauri Porra (bass) — have announced plans to carry on with new guitarist Matias Kupiainen. STRATOVARIUS' new studio album, "Polaris", will be released on May 21. The CD will be made available via the band's new label partner Edel under the new imprint earMUSIC outside of Asia and the band's longtime record company in Asia, JVC.

Writing on STRATOVARIUS' official forum, Johansson said, "I know you guys probably won't believe this, but I actually have the whole REVOLUTION RENAISSANCE "Age Of Aquarius" album now and am listening to it, Timo Tolkki gave it to me [Thursday] night... over dinner. The channels of communication are open and I think these stupid forum and Internet and statement and legal fights the two bands have been having could very well be a thing of the past.

"No doubt some people will be disappointed by that; after all, drama is more exciting than people who just quietly get along, but this stuff is sucking way too much energy from both bands.

"Having a band as a rallying point is important to some people. If there is a conflict, it probably gets even more titillating. I don't quite understand it myself.

"I still maintain that for most normal listeners there is no downside with what happened the last year. There are now two bands and there will be twice as much music. Both bands will be different than 'old STRATOVARIUS' and that's a beautiful thing.

"I'm sorry about the hateful things I have said here and in other places about Timo Tolkki. My excuse: I am only human too, after all.

"I'm not making some big deal about this. If you happen to find this post in this jungle, then you found it. After all, me and Timo Tolkki just had some curry and talked for a few hours, but I am really happy about it anyway. He shouldn't waste his time shadow boxing in Internet forums. And neither should I, come to think of it.

Après ça, j'ai des doutes sur la qualité. Strato, c'était surtout Tolkki, et Kotipelto n'a jamais fait des miracles en tant que compositeur...

sauf que les 3-4 derniers albums manquaient d'inspiration et que ca sentait la roue libre,donc reste a savoir si ils peuvent faire pire ou mieux sans tolki.

en tout cas, le nouveau gratteux est un killer, de ce que j'ai vu ici et là. Et le morceau sur le rock hard de ce mois ci est pas terrible, mais le solo claque bien.

en fait le morceau deep unknown est vraiment vraiment cool!!
Il est bien plus chouette que "maniac dance" à l'époque du précédent album, en tous cas. J'ai bien hâte d'en entendre un peu plus.

Edel Entertainment's International label earMUSIC has announced the first single off STRATOVARIUS' new studio album, Polaris, as 'Deep Unknown' (artwork pictured at left, click to enlarge). 'Deep Unknown' will be the band's 16th single, you can view the new music video for the track below.
The single, available now, is packaged as an enhanced CD, featuring the following tracks: 'Deep Unknown', 'Higher We Go', 'Deep Unknown' Video.
The song can be found on Stratovarius' new album Polaris, which will be released via Edel's new sub-label, earMUSIC, in Europe on May 18th and via Armoury Records (a division of Eagle Rock Entertainment) on May 26th.

Apres une seule écoute ca me plait pas mal ce titre. Du strato mais avec un refrain un peu moins "mélodie pré mâchée" que sur leurs derniers albums...

l'interview de Strato' dans le dernier Rock Hard voit Jorg Michael et Timo Kotipelto détruire littéralement Timo Tolkki.

Une déclaration parmi tant d'autres de Jorg Michael: "De nombreux musiciens talentueux sont complètement cinglés. Et Tolkki a beaucoup de talent".

enfin bref, toujours d'après Rock Hard, ce nouvel album de Strato' s'annonce mieux que les albums de Revolution Renaissance.
