US power metallers VICIOUS RUMORS have signed with German label SPV/Steamhammer for the world, except Japan. The new CD, Razorback Killer, will be released worldwide in March, 2011.

Mastermind Geoff Thorpe has put together 10 power tracks full of killer guitars and melodies. Larry Howe is the thunder hammer on drums, new vocalist Brian Allen has a wicked high range and power while Kiyoshi Morgan shredding on guitar and Stephen Goodwin pounding on bass.

Songs like 'Razorback Blade' is a speed metal anthem, 'Deal With The Devil' and 'All I Want Is You' are classic Vicious Rumors. The thrashing 'Axe To Grind' and 'Murderball' is pure power. Produced by Geoff Thorpe for GTM World Wide and Juan Urteaga of Trident Studios (MACHINE HEAD, TED NUGENT, NIGHT RANGER), Razorback Killer is a real metal classic.

Vicious Rumors is very excited to have Mark McGee return to the band on guitar for 2 songs in a very special reunion on this new CD. Geoff and Mark trading solos and doing harmonies in the studio just like the old days. Vicious Rumors was honored to have Brad Gillis (Night Ranger, OZZY OSBOURNE) make a guest appearance for a blazing solo. Just when you thought you were safe Eric Peterson (TESTAMENT) records a wicked harmony and shred solo on the the killer track 'Murderball'. With these songs and the new "old" logo Vicious Rumors keeps the ball rolling!

drôle de choix pour correspondre à la description de VR des années 2000 selon le guitariste Geoff Thorpe
le groupe serait plus malsain et rapide avec les années...
le morceau choisi est plutôt moyen pour ça, ça ne pique que sur la fin.... et encore...
Cela dit, le titre RazorBack Blade joué sur scène en Novembre dernier m'avait laissé un bien meilleur souvenir, plus féroce...

Je viens de l'acheter; est ce qu'il y en a qui l'ont déjà écouté?

Yep, vite fait une fois dans la bagnole d'un pote. Très bonne première impression, la meilleure depuis longtemps pour un nouvel album de VR, mais bon, je ne peux pas dire que je l'ai écouté correctement.

En tout cas sur scène le nouveau chanteur Brian Allen est énorme, une grosse tête de psychopathe récidiviste, une présence sauvage, et surtout une identité et une puissance vocale impressionnantes. Il n'a chanté que 2 titres au KIT, j'ai hâte de le voir à l’œuvre pendant 90 minutes.

au Klub il avait été excellent! Et même s'il fait le gros méchant en chantant, il est super sympa en dehors de la scène.
Sinon, album commandé, en attente de réception.

Et pour ceux qui se demandent pourquoi le bassiste d'origine Dave Starr n'était pas présent lors du concert "hommage à Carl Albert" au KIT, c'est tout simplement parce qu'il a une grosse embrouille (argent, menaces...) avec le batteur Larry Howe concernant le projet solo de Starr. Ce dernier refuse de revenir dans VR tant que Howe fait partie du groupe. Entre les histoires de Geoff Thorpe, les 1256 changements de chanteur et de soliste, et maintenant ça, ils ont quand même l'air d'être les spécialistes de la prise de chou

Starr issued the following update back in April:

"There are a few things I would like to address and clear up regarding VR. I have received numerous e-mails asking why I am not playing at the upcoming VR reunion at the KIT Festival this weekend in Germany. As most of you know, VR has been a big part of my life and I played on all the band's greatest CDs, tours and videos. I spent close to 12 years in the band. My time with VR was and always will be important to me. Having said that, under the current conditions in the band, it is not possible for me to do this reunion show.

The problems go back to right after the recording of the last VR CD, Warball (2006). At that time I went back to work on my current band WildeStarr. Singer London Wilde and I were working on songs for our debut CD, Arrival, that would come out in late 2009. In 2006 VR drummer Larry Howe was paid in full by London to play on our debut album. He agreed to do it, and we gave him demo songs to work on until we were ready to begin recording. In 2007 we contacted Larry and told him we were ready to book studio time and this is when he told us that he decided not to play on our CD. Not only did he change his mind, but he kept the money he was paid for the recording. He also sent us threatening and hostile e-mails and phone messages warning us not to take any legal action against him or he would 'retaliate' against us. All of these messages have been saved and documented. We were forced to hire another drummer for our CD, and essentially had to pay twice for drum tracks.

I told VR guitarist Geoff Thorpe that because of Larry's actions and behavior, I would not have anything further to do with VR in the future as long as Larry Howe was involved. Geoff said he understood, and would do what he could to try and convince Larry to straighten things out with London and I. Nothing ever came of this.

In early 2010, Geoff Thorpe asked me about playing at the 2011 KIT Festival. This would have been the first time the four surviving members of the band would have played together since 1993. I told Geoff that nothing has changed at all with Larry, so I would not do the show. Geoff again said he would talk to Larry. Geoff asked me over and over throughout 2010 about doing the show, but my answer was always the same. I would love to do the show, but Larry needs to return the money he was paid and apologize in person to London and I. Once these two things were done, all would be forgiven and I would be willing to talk about doing the show. No apology ever came. No money was ever returned to us. I finally had to tell Geoff that I was tired of talking about this and not to ask me about the reunion show again. Geoff said he was really upset, and that he really wanted the VR reunion show at KIT to happen. He said he would go ahead and find a fill in bassist, and I told him to do whatever he had to do. This situation with Larry has obviously strained the relationship between Geoff and I.

I have no bitterness or sour grapes about any of this. Larry has serious substance abuse issues that cloud his judgment, and that is not something that I am angry about. If anything, I feel sorry for Larry. I have been 100% clean and sober for six years now, so I know the damage drugs and alcohol can do to oneself (and your relationship with others) as well as the liberation of being free from the hell of addiction. I only hope that Larry can somehow find the inner peace and freedom that I have found.

In closing, I would like to thank all the great VR fans over the years for their love and support. Many of you have followed me since the early days of Soldiers Of The Night, all the way through to Warball and now, with what I am doing on guitar with WildeStarr.

London and I (along with new drummer Josh Foster) are hard at work on the new WildeStarr CD, A Tell Tale Heart, that will be out later this year. Our first CD, Arrival, received incredible reviews worldwide, and London and I both agree that the new CD will be even stronger. We will have a slightly darker and more aggressive sound this time around, yet retaining the same heaviness and Halford like vocals combined with dramatic and orchestrated harmony guitars."

exact en 2004 sur le dernier Chastain en date... quelle histoire ce groupe...

Sinon concernant le nouvel album je l'ai depuis 1 bonne semaine et il tourne énormément tout simplement parce l'album est excellent !!! je connais pas "Warball" mais cet album est largement supérieur à "Sadistic Symphony" ou "Cyberchrist", déjà production vraiment bonne, compo assez variès !! Déjà ça commence très (trop ?) fort avec "Murderball", l'un des meilleurs morceau de l'album, rien que pour ce titre l'abum vaut le coup, ça cogne sévére, le refrain est hyper accrocheur. Point important avec Brian Allen au chant qui apporte énormément à l'album !! i l faut absolument qu'il conserve ce chanteur !!!
"Razorback Blade" est assez mortel aussi, titre super speed, double grosse caisse à fond les ballons, gros solos de gratte...
"Pearl of Wisdom" bon morceau aussi, gros riffs, titre plus mid tempo avec un refrain bien sympa, franche accélération sur le fin du titre , Thorpe s'en donne à coeur joie niveau solos !!
"All I Want is you" morceau sympa aussi, "Axe to Grind" morceau également assez speed avec une grosse rythmique de gratte.
"Rite of Devastation" très bon morceau aussi, même recette, titre assez rapide avec de belles rythmiques de grattes bien heavy,
"Deal with the devil", morceau mid tempo plutôt bien construit, avec de bons solos et des guitares bien agressives !!
Bref plutôt du bon boulot de la part du groupe !! Dommage que leur date à Paris soir annulé, j'aurai bien aimé voir ça sur scène !!

"right of devastation" reste le meilleur morceau de l'album pour moi .

"Let the garden burn" est clairement un hommage au Headbanger's festival, qui leur avait fait une bien belle place de headliner en 2009. Marrant comme initiative. Le genre de paroles qu'on trouvait plus dans les 80's que dans les albums actuels.
