"live past.." est un excellent live.... du VRAI classique de chez classique... Le nouvel album est bon...aussdi bon que le précédent mais pas a la hauteur uyne fois de plus de "Pound For Pound" , "worth the Weight" ou "plugged in permanent"...donc aucunement comparable au légendaire "MOM" ou "FIF".....
Mais comparé a toutes les merdes pseudo métalliques qui sortent chaque jour, un album de ANVIL (comme pour BLITZKRIEG) est toujours un vrai bol d'air frais!

Ai acheté ce "This Is Thirteen" le 27 Août dernier au concert lillois de Anvil. Deuxième date française en trente ans de carrière! Je développerai dans Hell On Stage... L'album est bon, un bol d'air frais effectivement, peu de groupes jouent une telle musique de nos jours. Gros son (Chris Tsangarides aux manettes) de rigueur. Et surtout, limité à 1000 copies le disque, et c'est pas d'la couille (Fuck the record companies! dixit Lips), "A limited Edition Issued By Anvil". Ne sera à priori pas dispo dans le commerce. Allez faire un tour sur
Anvil.tk...

ben en tous cas ils ont pas vendu leur 1000 exemplaires, je viens de recevoir le mien

y a de bons morceaux mais aussi des titres un peu moyen, pas indispensable en soit ce disque mais sympa enfin c'est du Anvil quoi

Lips a changé son fusil d'épaule depuis le succès du documentaire sur le groupe, l'album va être édité proprement avec un bonus.

And then on September 15, "This is Thirteen" will finally see proper national distribution on CD and vinyl via VH1 Classic Records. The CD will feature the newly recorded, never-before released bonus track "Thumb Hang". The collectible double vinyl LP boasts newly re-recorded versions of ANVIL classics "Metal on Metal" and "666". The album, originally recorded in 2007 and produced by Chris Tsangarides (JUDAS PRIEST, THIN LIZZY), was primarily available directly from the band via their web site and at their concerts.

"'This is Thirteen' is more like our first three albums," says Lips, "which represent our real identity. For many of our albums, we went on an 'integrity hunt' instead of on a 'commercial/radio hunt,' so we became extremely inaccessible to radio. This time, we stepped back and said, 'What were we originally?' And we rediscovered ourselves, I suppose." Reiner adds, "There are three tracks that in my opinion, are definitely, 100% AOR/hard rock/commercial radio tracks — 'American Refuge', 'Flying Blind', and 'Feed the Greed'. Catchy melodies, incredible drum feels — they just all rock."

The title track is about as classic ANVIL as you can get — that slow, powerful, heavy backbeat with cool changes. The violent-sounding "Bombs Away" is, according to Reiner, "the almightiest metal track on the entire record," "Ready to Fight" is pure speed rock 'n roll — Nugent on steroids — that boasts super-heavy drumming, and "Big Business" is akin, musically-speaking, to CREAM's classic "Sunshine of Your Love". And then there's the true classic, ANVIL near-anthem, "Shoulda' Woulda' Coulda'", that's about living life with no regrets.

Reiner points out that the input from acclaimed producer Tsangarides (who produced early ANVIL albums) was a major reason for "This is Thirteen" turning out the way it did. "The last four or five albums, material-wise, were all similar. We had been trying to find the direction back to the classic ANVIL style and sound — it's just that the production hadn't been up to scratch. Chris was a big missing part on our past albums."

Les canadiens sont en studio, sortie prévue pour le printemps 2011 sur The End Records.

ANVIL have entered the studio (Dave Grohl's studio) with producer Bob Marlette (Black Sabbath, Slayer, Airborne, Filter, Atreyu, Alice Cooper fame) to record ANVIL'S most anticipated release in the bands history! JUGGERNAUT OF JUSTICE is set for a Spring 2011 release on The End Records!!!!

On how the success of ANVIL's documentary, "Anvil: The Story Of Anvil", influenced the creative process behind the band's new album, "Juggernaut Of Justice":

Lips: "We began the writing process for the new record before the documentary came out, but it was while the movie was being edited that writing really took off. My thoughts during that time were that we had better get the greatest record we had ever done completed because I just knew that after the film's release, we were going to become extraordinarily famous."

"Writing the new record was much like our moment of truth. Everything we had worked for was culminating in the making of this record. It took 30 years to get there and we knew the eyes of the world were going to be on us and that we had better be glowing."

On the spontaneity of having to come up with something under pressure:

Lips: "I realized that spontaneity is where it's at because in being spontaneous, you are not confined to your own parameters. As soon as you lock yourself into something, you are not opening yourself to the possibilities that could end up being more impressive. When you are inspired to create something, that urgency is the fire that motivates you."

On how the heavy metal genre allows bands like ANVIL to reap the fruits of their labor despite the fact that they are not spring chickens:

Lips: "I feel that many fans respect the fact that the metal genre is old and that there is no age barrier when it comes right down to it. The music has timelessness to it and garners so much respect because you have got guys like Ronnie James Dio who lived and played heavy metal until he died last year."

On ANVIL's audience in 2011:

Lips: "These days, we find that it is the demographic of the movie coming out to our shows; people that saw the movie that want to see what we are about. I find it incredibly remarkable but I feel a little odd sometimes though, playing to older people and I am swearing throughout the show."

A la première écoute, il est très surprenant cet album....

ça part dans tous les sens riffs heavy direct, refrains + rock n' roll, avec un chant surmixé (on ne reconnait pas la voix de lips) et à la fin un titre 100% doom avec bontempi... pour conclure le CD par un instru "dansant".
va falloir que je me l'écoute plusieurs fois avant de donner mon verdict.

Le melon... C'est le moins qu'on puisse dire... Après avoir joué la "pleureuse" dans le fameux film; qui m'a bien gonflé sur plusieurs séquences soit-dit en passant, un peu plus d'humilité serait bienvenue... Morceau choisi, je cite donc , Rock Hard #112, actuellement en kisoque...

Question: Lips a un jour dit à propos d'Anvil "Nous avons eu beaucoup de chance que ce film nous ait été consacré mais des tonnes d'autres groupes le méritaient aussi comme Raven ou Girlschool par exemple". Il est vrai que ces combos n'ont jamais cessé de se battre pour leur musique en dépit du manque de succès

Réponse: Ecoute: de tous les groupes qui existent, celui qui a été choisi pour faire ce film était le bon. Et je vais te dire pourquoi: la musique d'Anvil, contrairement à celle de très nombreux autres groupes, a fait la différence et influencé une génération entière de jeunes musiciens arrivés après nous. Ils ont tous puisé leur inspiration dans Anvil et chez personne d'autre. Alors en ce qui me concerne je pense qu'Anvil était le seul groupe qui méritait vraiment qu'un film lui soit consacré.

J'ai halluciné sur cette interview,perso j'ai joué avec un groupe local il y a une bonne dizaine d'année qui avait la même mentalité, je me suis vite barré quand on m'a dit "t'es prêt à monter dans l'ovni on va faire la première partie de Metallica à Wembley" avec le sac plastique rempli de verte sur la table

....
