Moi qui croyais connaître tous les groupes belges, jamais entendu parler de ceux-là

C'est essentiellement un festival de Hardcore, ceci explique sans doute cela.

À part AMENRA, je n'en connais aucun.

En fait avec CELESTE, ce sont les seuls groupes de l'affiche que je connais.

En fait il n'y a pas que du hardcore là-dedans. Je pense par exemple à These Mountains are Ghosts, qui sont plus près d'un Mastodon / Kruger qu'autre chose. Bon après Knuckledust c'est du hardcore (moi j'aime pas). Pay No Respect également. le reste, je ne connais pas...

Oui bien sûr, j'ai ajouté l'"essentiellement" à escient justement parce que je ne connais pas les autres.

De toute manière, toi qui y es allé, c'est toujours garni de quelques noms plus exotiques j'imagine ?

Jamais fait le Winterfest. Je n'ai fait que celui d'été, et seulement en 2012. C'était une édition un peu spéciale 2012, vu que c'était les 20 ans.

J'avais bien apprecié Amenra au Hellfest et j'avais été très déçu de louper le set de Celeste à cause de l'ouverture tardive du site.

En fait ya plus de post que de vrai hardcore sur cette affiche.

J'aurais bien voulu faire l'édition estivale l'an dernier donc je vais guetter les nouvelles annonces.

ALKERDEEL c'est bien particulier aussi, rien à voir avec du hardcore classique...je rapprocherais même plus ça d'un Shining par exemple.

AMENRA lorgne pas mal du côté Sludge effectivement.

CELESTE je devais les voir fin Février dernier à la Miroiterie, probablement la plus petite "salle" parisienne qu'on peut davantage assimiler à un squat, où ils passaient après le Black / Shoegaze très planant de DEAFHEAVEN, mais non seulement ça dégueulait tellement de monde de partout qu'on pouvait plus pénétrer à l'intérieur après l'entracte, mais une grosse coupure de jus a mis spontanément fin aux festivités.

Du coup j'ai aucune idée de ce à quoi ça ressemble sur scène.

Je vais essayer de faire l'édition estivale cette année, en espérant une affiche du même calibre que l'année dernière même si ça va être difficile sans faire revenir quelques groupes.
Je pense qu'on peut compter sur Madball vu qu'ils tourneront en Europe à la même période et qu'ils n'étaient pas là l'année dernière. Pour le reste je laisse les organisateurs nous trouver du bon, de toute façon il y aura forcément des découvertes donc je ne me fais pas trop de soucis. Normalement la première annonce ne devrait pas tarder.

We would like to offer you all a Valentine’s Day surprise! Today, we are announcing no less than 32 bands to perform on the 21st edition of Ieperfest, taking place on 9, 10 and 11 August 2013. This is exactly half of the full line-up! But first, some last important details regarding our winter edition of this upcoming Saturday!

Ieperfest winter 2013 pre-sale ends on Friday 15 February, 18h00 sharp. Tickets have been selling really well, especially these last few days, so pick up yours before it’s too late. There’ll still be some tickets left at the door, for the round price of €20!

Check out the Ieperfest winter MTM program by clicking “MTM” tab. There’ll be a lot of cool presentations, and quite a few NGO-stands so don’t be a stranger and check it out. Hardcore, More Than Music!

And now, without further ado, we proudly present the first batch of acts to play Ieperfest 2013! Ready? Here goes:

ADOLESCENTS (US) // Legendary punk band formed in 1980 in California. Broke up and reformed several times over the course of history, but have now been together again since 2001. First ever Ieperfest appearance!
AMENRA (BE) // High priests of Belgian heavy music. Brand new album “Mass V” under their belt, and ready for yet another legendary Ieperfest appearance.
BLACK FLAG (US) // The legend reforms! Founding member, guitarist and the only constant member of BLACK FLAG Greg Ginn teams up with “Jealous Again” era vocalist Ron Reyes. So stoked to have this legendary band play our festival!
The BLACK HEART REBELLION (BE) // Church of Ra represents once more. One of Belgium's most promising sludge/postcore bands, so we are more than happy to have them also at this year's summer edition.
CIRCLE TAKES THE SQUARE (US) // Formed in 2001 in Savannah, Georgia, CTTS plays doomy 'n sludgy screamo about the end of the world. They have just released “Decompositions: Volume One”, a true master piece and their first full length since 2004. Happy to finally have play the fest.
CODE ORANGE KIDS (US) // Hardcore punk band that formed in Pittsburgh in 2008. They were just a bunch of 13/14-year-olds at that time. Currently signed to Deathwish Inc and coming over for their second European tour.
COFFINS (JP) // Killer Japanese metal three-piece, around since 1996 and heavily influenced by old school 1980’s and 1990’s doom, death and thrash metal.
CULTURE (US) // Legendary 90’s hardcore outfit fronted by Damien Moyal (AS FRIENDS RUST, MORNING AGAIN, DAMIEN DONE, …) to perform exclusively at Ieperfest 2013. This will be your one and only chance to catch them live in Europe, so don’t miss it!
DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR (US) // Boston Massachusetts hardcore band, back for their third appearance at Ieperfest.
DOWNSET (US) // Founded in 1987 as SOCIAL JUSTICE, this legendary Los Angeles hardcore band changed its name to DOWNSET in 1992. As the original blenders of rap, funk, hardcore, punk, metal and socially aware lyrics, they drew influences from BLACK FLAG to BLACK SABBATH, PUBLIC ENEMY to BOB MARLEY.
DRI (US) // DIRTY ROTTEN IMBECILES! Legendary crossover thrash band that formed in Houston, Texas in 1982. First ever Ieperfest performance, finally!
DYS (US) // Formed at ground zero of Boston’s tough as nails straight edge hardcore scene, DYS rose out of SS DECONTROL’s Boston Crew, going on to help establish the city as a center of the movement along with NEGATIVE FX and LAST RIGHTS.
E-TOWN CONCRETE (US) // Formed way back in 1995 in Elizabeth, New Jersey. The band decided to call it quits in 2006, but have since then reformed a few times. Playing just 3 shows in Europe this year, one of them being their first ever Ieperfest performance.
EVERGREEN TERRACE (US) // Hailing from Jacksonville, Florida and blazing their own path through the melodic hardcore style since 1999. Also for them: first time ever at Ieperfest.
FULL OF HELL (US) // Hardcore punk band formed in 2009, based out of Maryland and Pennsylvania. Signed to A389 records and their third time over in Europe already.
GOODTIME BOYS (UK) // Hyperactive melodic hardcore act hailing from Cardiff, UK. Currently signed to Bridge Nine rcs.
HORSE THE BAND (US) // Formed in 1999 in California. People still talk about their legendary previous Ieperfest performances, so we decided it was time to bring them back for a third one.
LEFTÖVER CRACK (US) // Leading American streetpunk band that formed in 2000 in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, New York City.
LENG TCH’E (BE) // LENG TCH’E formed in early 2001, basing their own hybrid of grindcore on bands such as REGURGITATE, NASUM and REPULSION and mixing it all up with some stoner/rock/hardcore influences.
LENGTH OF TIME (BE) // Legendary Brussels metalcore band that has been around since 1997. Happy to have 'em on the bill again. Shame to this weakness modern world!
MADBALL (US) // Legendary New York hardcore band, demonstrating their style at Ieperfest for the fourth time already.
MAGRUDERGRIND (US) // Formed in 2002 in Washington DC. Owing much to the close-knit global DIY punk community, since its inception this crusty grind band has toured Europe and North America multiple times. First ever Ieperfest appearance.
MUNICIPAL WASTE (US) // Headlined the very first edition of Ieperfest winter in a legendary fashion 5 years ago. This year, they are set to perform at the summer edition for the very first time.
NAPALM DEATH (UK) // You suffer, but why? Legendary grindcore/death metal band formed in 1981 in Birmingham, England. Very proud to have this band on the bill for the first time ever.
NO TURNING BACK (NL) // Holland’s biggest, most relentless hardcore band is back. Their last passage at Ieperfest summer dates back from 2010 already, so a new appearance was way past due.
O INIMIGO (BR) // The Enemy! Melodic hardcore by a bunch of friends with great thirst for music. For fans of FUGAZI and HOT WATER MUSIC. Featuring former and current members of DISCARGA, I SHOT CYRUS, POINT OF NO RETURN, RATOS DE PORAO, etc.
ORANGE GOBLIN (UK) // Stoner metal band fhat formed in 1995. First ever Ieperfest appearance for the band, but not for drummer Chris who already played back in 90s with FABRIC.
REPROACH (BE) // Fast forward skate thrash hardcore punk from Overpelt, Belgium. They last played Ieperfest in 2010, and that sure as hell was a memorable performance.
REVENGE (US) // Western Massachusetts hardcore with hints of early power violence and even thrash metal. Currently signed to Eulogy rcs.
The SETUP (BE) // Belgian hardcore powerhouse releasing a brand new album entitled “This Thing of Ours” this year. Their last summer edition appearance dates back to 2009 already, wow!
WHITECHAPEL (US) // First time at Ieperfest for this six-piece brutal deathcore band based out of Knoxville, Tennessee. Signed to Metal Blade rcs.
XERXES (US) // Formed in Louisville, Kentucky in 2009. Their sound channels the energy and passion of mid-90’s originators YOU AND I and SAETIA, while adding the more upbeat and brutal thrash mentality of contemporaries such as TRASH TALK and AMPERE, making for a sound that runs the gamut of blast-beat aggression and emotional rumination.

We are very pleased with this first list, and hope you are as well. There’s still lots more in the pipeline, so stay tuned for future announcements!

Pas mal de groupes que je ne connais pas, c'est normal et c'est un peu pour ça que j'y vais, pour découvrir des groupes. Du coup je vais m'atteler à écouter tous les groupes.
Pour l'instant je retiens: Black Flag (pour la légende. Je ne sais pas du tout ce qu'ils valent maintenant...), Downset, Madball, Municipal Waste, D.R.I. (déjà vu au Persistence Tour, j'avais pas trouvé ça ouf mais en même temps il y avait 10 personnes), Napalm Death (j'écoute pas de Grind mais au Summerbreeze j'avais trouvé ça cool après avoir bu quelques bières avec les voisins allemands ), Orange Goblin.

Un peu de Post (j'ai bien dit Post, pas post...), de groupes anglais new school et quelques groupes de tatas et ça devrait le faire.

We would like to start by thanking each and every person present at the 5th anniversary of Ieperfest Winter last month. This was our first sold out edition ever, so thanks a lot! Our indoor festival will return in winter 2014, no doubt about that.

In about a week time, on Saturday 30 March, we are hosting our very first "More Than Music" event. Greg Bennick, vocalist of the legendary TRIAL, will be passing through Europe on a spoken word tour entitled "Use Your Words As Weapons". One of his stops is at JOC 't Perron in Ieper! Find all information on this on Facebook.

We are very pleased with the first reactions to the list of bands we announced about a month ago. Everybody seems to be very enthusiastic, which has resulted in booming sales of our early bird pre-sale tickets. These tickets will be on sale for a few weeks more in our online shop, or at your local Free Record Shop.

In addition to the 32 acts we announced earlier, we are adding no less than 17 new names to the line-up today. This brings us to a total of 49 acts. 15 more to come later on! Ready? Here goes!:

BROKEN BONES (UK) // British hardcore punk band formed by guitarist Tony "Bones" Roberts in 1983 after he left DISCHARGE. The band played an important rôle in influencing the emergence of thrash metal. Legends! First time at Ieperfest.
CH3 (US) // CHANNEL 3! Punk rock band from Cerritos, California. Part of the Southern California punk scene of the early 1980's, the band had a sound that was more melodic than many of their hardcore contemporaries. Also first time ever at Ieperfest!
DEATH THREAT (US) // Formed in Connecticut in 1997; the original line-up was composed of former HATEBREED members. The album "Peace and Security", released in 2000 is still considered a classic in its genre. Their very first Ieperfest performance will be an exclusive European festival appearance this year!
FACE TO FACE (US) // Legendary punk rock band formed in California in 1991. The band first signed to Dr. Strange rcs, but moved to Fat Wreck Chords a while later. They reunited after disbanding in 2004. Another Ieperfest first timer.
GRIEVED (SE) // Dark hardcore five piece band hailing from Stockholm. These youngsters will surprise many with their fierce and devestating sound. For fans of CURSED, RISE AND FALL, OATHBREAKER, etc.
JELLO BIAFRA & THE GUANTANAMO SCHOOL OF MEDICINE (US) // JELLO BIAFRA is best known as founder and driving force behind the legendary DEAD KENNEDYS. JB&TGSOM released its first record "The Audacity of Hype" in October 2009. The band has a rock solid live reputation. Honored to have them on our stage!
JUCIFER (US) // Sludge/doom-metal two-piece founded in Georgia in 1993. They are notorious for their use of massive amplification, and for their entirely nomadic lifestyle since moving into their tour vehicle a decade ago. First time ever at Ieperfest.
MAUDLIN (BE) // Belgian coastal five piece mixing NEUROSIS with TYPE O-NEGATIVE, MASTODON and PINK FLOYD. Presenting their brand new album "A Sign Of Time" to an international audience. Third appearance at Ieperfest, the previous one dating back to 2008 already.
MONDO GENERATOR (US) // Aka NICK OLIVERI AND THE MONDO GENERATOR. That's right, the legendary Nick Oliveri (KYUSS, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE,…) is coming to Ieperfest this summer! MG was formed in 1997 and became Oliveri's full time project after he left QOTSA in 2004. First time ever at Ieperfest.
MOSTOMALTA (AR) // Vegan straight-edge metalcore band, hailing from Mendoza, Argentina. Formed in 1998 and featuring Gerardo, who also sang in NUEVA ETICA.
NINEBAR (UK) // London hardcore band formed in the summer of 1997. They had to tackle several line-up changes over the years, but the current one is by far the strongest. Expect loud and heavy hardcore with a distinct London twist.
NO OMEGA (SE) // Hopeless and heartbreaking doomsday hardcore punk all the way from Stockholm. Very hard working, DIY band that creates a sound that's both vibrant and melancholic.
QUESTIONS (BR) // Sao Paulo hardcore band admired by the Cavalera brothers (Iggor wore their shirts on many SEPULTURA concerts and Max had a QUESTIONS sticker on his guitar). Surerly one of the best hardcore bands that ever came out of South America.
SECTARIAN VIOLENCE (SE/UK/US) // Power violence/trash sxe project by five hardcore punks that come from three different countries and backgrounds and (used to) play in other bands like COKE BUST, MAGRUDERGRIND, STAY HUNGRY and NEVER AGAIN. Pointing out the cold hard truth about modern capitalist society. Listen, think, act!
TSOL (US) // TRUE SOUNDS OF LIBERTY. Long Beach, Los Angeles punk band formed in 1979. Expect the burgeoning West Coast hardcore punk sound of the late 1970s and early 1980s, not their cheesy later era hardrock.
VALIENT THORR (US) // Blending metal, southern rock, stoner rock and classic rock into a grungy amalgamation of bands like MOTÖRHEAD, THIN LIZZY, BLACK SABBATH, MC5. Touring relentlessly since 2001. Based in the North Carolina Triangle area.
VIOLENT ARREST (UK) // Great mixture between old 80ties UK hc/punk and oldskool Boston hc. ex-RIPCORD and HERESY. For fans of POISON IDEA, FUCKED UP and RIPCORD!

Nouveaux noms dévoilés cette semaine

• CATHARSIS (US) // Legendary anarchist metalcore punk straight out of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. CATHARSIS started out in 1994 and disbanded in 2002. Recently, they have been playing again in the US, and this summer Europe may welcome them for a very limited amount of shows. We are very proud that Ieperfest will be one of them.
• CLEARVIEW (BR) // No-frills, in-your-face hardcore act that has been going since 2002. For fans of TERROR and NO WARNING. Featuring members of CHILDREN OF GAIA.
• HESSIAN (BE) // One of Belgium's many talented hardcore bands, disciples of the Church of Ra. The infamous Southern Lord label recently released their debut album.
• LOMA PRIETA (US) // Screamo band featuring (ex-)members of PUNCH, SAILBOATS, … formed in San Francisco in 2005. They self-released several efforts in the past, but signed with Deathwish Inc. for their latest LP "I.V."! First time at Ieperfest.
• TERVEET KÄDET (FI) // Legendary Finnish hardcore punk band, often considered the DISCHARGE of Finland. The band was founded in Tornio in the early 80s. TK was often mentioned by SEPULTURA's Max Cavalera as one of his all-time-favorites. This will be their first time ever at Ieperfest.
• WOLFxDOWN (DE) // Female fronted vegan straight-edge mosh brigade. Their debut full-length will be released this summer. The ideal moment to invite them for their first Ieperfest performance ever.

Enfin je connais Loma Prieta même si c'est pas mon groupe préféré de screamo ça passe.
