On Friday, March 7, Swiss folk metallers ELUVEITIE were awarded one of Switzerland's most prestigious recognitions in music: a Swiss Music Award in the category "Best Live Act National." ELUVEITIE was chosen to receive the honor after a highly competitive fan voting, marking the very first time ever for a metal band to receive this award.

Le groupe vient d'entrer en studio :

Right after taking home a prestigious Swiss Music Award as "Best Live Act" earlier this month (the first metal band ever to do so), ELUVEITIE has entered the Swiss New Sound Studio to begin work on the follow-up to 2012’s Helvetios, once again with legendary producer Tommy Vetterli.

The band comments, and takes the opportunity to announce a first guest appearance: “As always, working with Tommy Vetterli is as efficient as it is creative: both drum and guitar tracking is already completed! We have now begun work on the folk instruments and vocals at Newsound Studio, Lucerne’s Soundfarm Studio, and Chrigel’s home simultaneously. We are extremely proud of the new material and can’t wait to present yet another big step in the evolution of Eluveitie later this year!

We were also able to secure a bunch of exciting guest performers, the first of which we have recorded last week: the wonderful Christine Lauterburg. Not only is Christine one of the most original musicians in Switzerland, but she’s really a living legend! Like no other she has practiced and perfected the age-old tradition of Swiss jodel over many decades. She has set many milestones in the history of Swiss folk music, and delivered valuable contributions to the research and preservation of a tradition that may reach back all the way to the early ages, and originated with the Helvetian celts.

We are proud to have Christine in our ranks - her singing adds just that much more archaic authenticity to our sound, and contributes to the primeval rawness that will define our new album! More news will follow soon!"

Swiss folk metal, ELUVEITIE have revealed the title and cover art for the band's upcoming album, Origins, whichwill be released on August 1st worldwide, the 4th in England, Scotland and Ireland, and on the 5th in North America. Check out the cover artwork created by Chrigel Glanzmann below.



Chrigel Glanzmann's first insights on the lyrical and historical themes of Origins:

"ORIGINS deals in-depth with Celtic mythology, or to be more precise, with aetiological tales from Gaul in particular. Hence we're facing strongly mythical as well as spiritual subjects on this album, topics which we have approached very scientifically and in cooperation with several scientists and diverse universities. Many aspects of Gaulish mythology and spirituality remain in the dark nonetheless, while others run through the theme like a golden thread - like this eminent, yet innominate god, for instance, of which the Gauls claimed to be direct descendants and which was compared to the Roman chtonic deity Dis Pater. Today we cannot say which Gaulish god this was exactly. But according to all we know it's likely that we're dealing with Sucellos here. Throughout space and time he appears over and over again - from very old spiritual customs of ancient Gaulish tribes in today's northern Spain all the way to later statues in today's Switzerland, France and elsewhere. Perhaps he is this mysterious nameless one. The album cover of Origins is designed after the hammer/club-shaped 'halo' of Sucellos, as seen on a statue, that was found in a shrine of a gallo-roman household in today's France. It was created under the scientific supervision of experts from the university of Zürich.”

La violoniste Nicole Ansperger va quitter le groupe début septembre, le groupe cherche un(e) remplaçant(e), possibilité de candidater jusqu'à jeudi.

3 membres du groupe s'en vont : Anna Murphy , Ivo Henzi ( guitare) et Merlin ( batterie ) .
Cela me paraissait prévisible pour un tel groupe enchaînant albums et tournées sans pause.
Mais ce départ risque de sonner la fin du groupe : Anna était de plus en plus investi au chant , elle jouait d'un instrument peu courant . Même si dans le communiqué du groupe, il est prévu de continue l'aventure.

Si j'ai bien compris ces membres seront encore sur scène jusqu'au 5 juin.
Ils ont pas mal de dates prévues d'ici là (Chine, Australie, etc.), ensuite le groupe fera avec des musiciens de sessions jusqu'à la fin de l'année, avant de se mettre en pause pour chercher son nouveau line up.

Nouveau line-up, ils son désormais 9!

Eluveitie have finally revealed their complete new line-up. With the help of a countdown on their homepage, they have presented little by little the new formation with posters, videos and interviews. The metallers now announced the last new band member! New line-up: Jonas Wolf (guitars), Matteo Sisti (whistles, bagpipes, mandola), Nicole Ansperger (fiddle), Alain Ackermann (drums), Chrigel Glanzmann (vocals, whistles, mandola, bagpipes, bodhran), Fabienne Erni (vocals, celtic harp, Mandola), Kay Brem (bass), Michalina Malisz (hurdy gurdy) and Rafael Salzmann (guitars).

This happens just right before the band's own festival, Eluveitie & Friends, will take place at Z7, Pratteln, Switzerland on the 6th/7th of January! At this festival, Eluveitie will perform with their new line-up for the first time!

The band states: "Above all we're super happy and thankful that we're complete again (even more than complete, actually) and given the chance to have such gifted musicians on board! What could be a better start into a new year? 2017 is our year! We cannot wait to enter the studios soon and finish Evocation II. And right afterwards we'll be back with full force to rock the summer festival stages. Cheers & sláinte."

A la vue des noms des chansons, ils aiment les Celtes...

Eight years after melodic death/folk metal masters Eluveitie released the acoustic album "Evocation I," the Swiss musicians have stored their electronic instruments again in the rehearsal room. "Evocation II - Pantheon" will be released August 18th via Nuclear Blast Records. The album marks the debut for new members: Matteo Sisti (bagpipes/whistles), Alain Ackermann (drums), Jonas Wolf (guitars), Michalina Malisz (hurdy gurdy) and Fabienne Erni (vocals/harps/mandola).

Last week, the band unleashed first new song "Epona" (check it out below) and provoked some euphoric fan reactions. To guide you even deeper into the world of "Evocation II - Pantheon" and the new track, the band now unveils an info video about the background story and singer Chrigel explains who "Epona" is. Watch that clip at the bottom.

"We're super happy and proud to present you 'Epona' - the first single of our upcoming album 'Evocation II - Pantheon'!" states front man Chrigel Glanzmann. "The song is an ode to the riding goddess queen of the Celtic pantheon! And this not only lyrically. Also musically, for even though 'Epona' is an acoustic track, the song surges ahead with verve, power and speed and dashes like a galloping horse! It is a good song to give you a first glimpse of the raw, wild, honest, very folky and thoroughly celtic character of 'Evocation II - Pantheon'!"
