Virtuosic extreme metallers, Obscura, recently announced that their sixth studio album, A Valediction, will see the light of day on November 19 and that they are ready to hit the road with their upcoming European tour in the fall. Today it's time for the first single and video from their new masterpiece, called "Solaris".
Founder & mastermind Steffen Kummerer comments on the track as follows: "'Solaris' turned out to become one of the band’s shortest and utmost direct compositions featuring all trademarks lots of attitudes and a melodic approach. Flattering guitar work pushing drums and swinging bass lines combined with a relentless vocal performance and ultrasonic leads became easily a highlight of A Valediction."

The recordings were all made in the US, Canada, and Mexico between 2022 and 2023 as part of the A Valediction World Tour.
Today, we get a taste with a live video for the track, "The Anticosmic Overload", from the album Cosmogenesis, filmed by Vincent Grundke, who has been accompanying the band as a videographer and photographer since 2021. Watch the video below, and liisten to the song on all platforms, here.
Steffen Kummerer comments: “A Celebration I - Live In North America covers a selection of concerts we performed in the United States of America, Canada, and Mexico between 2022 and 2023 as part of the A Valediction World Tour. Within 20 years, we are looking towards the first live album of Obscura, spiked with songs of our last five releases. It was a pleasure working through every recorded show to pick the best song, the loudest possible audience and a stellar performance by a band that's on fire. As a first impression, we choose 'The Anticosmic Overload' performed in the United States of America, since this was the first song ever we performed in North America back in 2009."

"I have been a bit silent on social media, but since I have received so many messages, it is time for an update:
1. First things first, yes it is true, I left Obscura shortly after the last European run. I do not want to get into the nitty gritty of things, I know it is a cliche to say so, but the reason were just creative differences when it came to the next album. I am still super proud of the album that was A Valediction and enjoyed all the tours that followed and it was great to meet so many of you in person. It was a good run, but now the time has come for me to move on.
2. I am very excited to announce that I finished the songwriting for the debut album of my new band/project Void Sector Zero and will be moving on to pre-production shortly. The music will be tech/prog thrash in the tradition of bands like DEATHROW, CORONER, OBLIVEON, WATCHTOWER,TOXIK etc. mixed with some 90s tech death influences (DEATH, CYNIC, ATHEIST, NOCTURNUS, MARTYR...), jazz/fusion elements (ALLAN HOLDSWORTH, TRIBAL TECH) and tons of guitar solos inspired by everyone who was on the Shrapnel label between 1985 and 1999. I will announce the line up once it is finalized.
3. The pre-production for Eternity's End 4 is almost done. Soon I will get in touch with the rest of the guys and we can move on to the final recordings. Expect our fastest and thrashiest album so far.
4. The Retromorphosis album is finished, but because of the label being what labels are today it will most likely be a 2025 release.
5. I have a VERY EXCITING video course coming out at the end of that month, so keep your eyes open. More on that later."
