excellent, la meilleure façon de leur répondre

La vidéo de "Catch the Rainbow" repris par Glenn Hughes, Craig Goldy et Scott Warren (il me semble, à confirmer).
Assez touchant de le voir chanter à quelques mètres du cercueil de Dio, avec quelques paroles supplémentaires juste avant la fin, au même moment où Dio improvisait souvent des paroles justement...

J'étais en train de relire un Metal Hammer anglais de Décembre 2008 cet aprèm et je tombe sur la rubrique "My Life Story" consacré à Ronnie James Dio... Je retranscris les 2 dernières questions...

Will you ever write an autobiography?

"Actually I'm about a third of the way through it! Im well into the Rainbow years. Dredging up all those memories has been a mind-purging and soul-cleansing experience, but also a time-consuming one as I'm doing it the way I write everything including lyrics: with a pencil. I don't know how to type. If I make a mistake, I use an eraser. Things work best when things flow from my brain, through my arm to that pencil and onto the paper."

Alors je ne sais pas où il en était dans l'écriture mais cela risque bien de sortir à titre posthume...

"I don't believe in either of those places. People burning forever, or someone sitting on a throne and tallying up all the things I've done in my life? It's stupid to think so. Il y avait un topic sur sa future autobiographie d'ailleurs je me souviens, espérons qu'elle sera quand même assez touffue, et peut-être alors que ceux qui l'ont côtoyé pourront compléter les chapitres manquants.

The Los Angeles City Council officially declared May 30 "Ronnie James
Dio Day." The announcement was made at Sunday's public memorial service
for the legendary heavy metal singer who died of stomach cancer at the
age of 67 two weeks earlier.

Eddie Trunk, host of VH1 Classic's "That Metal Show", read councilmember
Paul Koretz's official declaration to those 1,200 mourners gathered
inside of Forest Lawn's Hall of Liberty, as well as the hundreds more
who crowded the courtyards of the Griffith Park cemetery.

Koretz's declaration in full:

"I would like to adjourn in memory of Ronnie James Dio. Born Ronald
James Padavona, in Portsmouth New Hampshire in 1942. He had an amazing
career in music, marked by tremendous successes with heavy metal bands
ELF, RAINBOW, BLACK SABBATH, and DIO. He began his career playing with
rockabilly bands in the late 1950s, and gained wide exposure in 1972
while his band, ELF, as the opening act for DEEP PURPLE. In 1979, he
replaced Ozzy Osbourne as the front man of BLACK SABBATH. He toured with
BLACK SABBATH until 1982, by then he had formed his own group, DIO.

"Ronnie's charisma on stage was complemented by his compassion offstage.
As an organizer for the non-profit organization Children of the Night,
he was dedicated to the cause of assisting children who were forcefully
subjected to prostitute themselves on the streets. Since 1979, this
organization has provided victims of forced prostitution with
intervention and counseling, as well as a roof over their heads and a
place to sleep.

"He is survived by his wife, Wendy, who is chair of Children of the
Night, and his son, Daniel, his father, Pat Padavona, and two
grandchildren.

"For his countless fans and admirers, there will be a public memorial
service this Sunday, May 30th at 2:00 PM at Forest Lawn Hollywood
Hills."

Ronnie James Dio, chanteur de heavy metal et de hard rock américain, qui avait fait notamment partie des groupes Black Sabbath et Rainbow est mort, dimanche, à l'âge de 67 ans, a annoncé sa femme. "Aujourd'hui mon coeur est brisé. Ronnie est mort à 7h45 le 16 mai", a déclaré cette dernière sans préciser les causes de la mort de son mari qui souffrait d'un cancer. Dio, né Ronald James Padanova à Portsmouth(New Hampshire, nord-est des Etats-Unis) avait joué dans les années 50 avec les premiers groupes de rock. Au milieu des années 70, Ritchie Blackmore, guitariste du groupe britannique Deep Purple, l'avait engagé dans son nouveau groupe, Rainbow. En 1979, Dio avait rejoint Black Sabbath en remplacement d'Ozzy Osborne. Conforme à la tradition des hurleurs à longue tignasse, il était devenu célèbre, dit-on, pour avoir popularisé le signe des cornes que font avec leurs doigts tous les fans de métal dignes de ce nom dans les concerts du genre.

Pendant ce temps Axel Rudi Pell prépare un concert caritatif hommage à Bochum (Allemagne) le 12 juillet, avec Doogie White (ex-Rainbow) et d'autres participants.

A metal lifer, there is no retirement plan for Axel Rudi Pell. "Absolutely not. I think they'll carry me off the stage. I will continue for another 15 or twenty years, as long as my health is OK. I'm not writing at the moment. I'm working on a Ronnie James Dio tribute show in Bochum, with some friends of mine. July 12th, it's for charity. One half of the income will go to Ronnie's Stand Up And Shout Cancer fund and the other half will go to a German cancer fund. I think it will be good to help keep his memory alive. I just got a reply from Doogie White (ex-RAINBOW). He will be part of it."

j'ai passé toute la journée avec le refrain en tête, c'est vrai qu'elle est belle !

...Vieux motard que jamais...rien de très original ...bouleversante cette disparition ! L'impression très bizarre d'avoir perdu un proche ! Après ça enfilage de la disco de Dio avec une boule dans la gorge et des larmes contenues...indicible sentiment...Un grand homme nous quitte !

Dear Friends and Fans of Ronnie, I have seen lately on Blabbermouth.net a lot of announcements of bands releasing "so-called" Dio Tribute CD's. Please do not be fooled by thinking that they are doing this for the Fund, the money is going in their pockets and not to the Fund. I find this totally disgraceful and upsetting that they are trying to make money off Ronnie's death.- Wendy Dio

Je suis d'accord que c'est dégueulasse les groupes qui disent que l'argent sera reversé et qui garde pour eux...
Par contre y en a aussi qui font des tribute pour rendre hommage. A ce moment-là il faudrait condamner tous les tribute de Thin Lizzy ou Led Zeppelin...
Je comprends sa réaction mais chacun a le droit de rendre hommage d'une façon ou d'une autre

Oui, m'enfin il y a l'art et la manière... Faire ces projets dans la foulée de sa mort, l'annoncer à peine un mois après voire dans la semaine qui suit pour le cas de Jorn, je trouve que ça fait quand même limite charognard

C'est clair que pour Jorn c'est outrageusement rapide (surtout pour le clip ) , la démarche de Manowar pourrait être plus crédible même si au final cela ne sert qu'à promotionner les groupes signés sur leur label , perso ce qui me gène c'est qu'ils pourraient au moins reverser les fonds pour la recherche contre la cancer .
