Le conflit avec leur ancien batteur va au tribunal.
Ce dernier a lancé un nouveau projet, voir plus bas.
It seems like Sólstafir's court battle with ex-member and founding drummer, Guðmundur Óli Pálmason, has new developments and you can find out more about it here or below. Guðmundur Óli Pálmason had promised before that he would take this to court and now he did.

Statement: "Svalbard Music Group ehf. (Ltd.) has sued Aðalbjörn Tryggvason for illegally seizing control over and ownership of the company's main asset, the trademark Sólstafir and the band's business, and for hollowing the company out from the inside.

"Svalbard Music Group was formed by Sólstafir's only two remaining founding members Aðalbjörn Tryggvason and Guðmundur Óli Pálmason, and both of them have an equal 50% share in the company. From it's creation in January 2011 Svalbard Music Group's sole purpose has been to run the band Sólstafir and take care of all it's related business. As such the company has acquired in accordance with Icelandic laws the ownership of the trademark Sólstafir.

"Just before midnight on January 19th 2015 Guðmundur Óli Pálmason received an email from Aðalbjörn Tryggvason saying that the band intended to move ahead without him. Aðalbjörn also cancelled Guðmundur's flight tickets without his knowledge for an European tour that was supposed to start two days later. The morning after, on January 20th Aðalbjörn applied for the trademark Sólstafir at the Icelandic Patent Office solely in his own name and with his personal id number. His patent application has not been accepted by the office.

"Aðalbjörn Tryggvason was released from his duties as the executive director of Svalbard Music Group on December 11th 2015 for his gross misconduct. The case was filed at the Reykjavík District Court on January 12th 2016. On Behalf of Svalbard Music Group ehf. (Ltd.) Guðmundur Óli Pálmason."
It seems that despite being caught in court battles in the north, the former Sólstafir drummer Guðmundur Óli Pálmason has a new music project going on, named Katla. He formed the band with multi-instrumentalist Einar Eldur Thorberg Guðmundsson who has played with Gummi in Potentiam and Atli Jarl Martin (Helshare, Changer) also contributed.

The following message was posted along with the debut song: "Katla is one of Iceland's biggest volcanoes. Katla has erupted regularly in the past, but has not erupted violently since 1918.

"Katla is also a musical co-operation between Einar Eldur Thorberg Guðmundsson and me, Guðmundur Óli Pálmason. It's roots date back to 2015 when I was illegally forced out of a band I had built up for 20 years. After that rather gnarly episode I did not have much interest in playing music anymore but after a few months I could no longer ignore the fact that creating music is a part of my persona and my life. Therefore I called a couple of my closest friends whom I could imagine making music with, Einar Eldur and Atli Jarl. Einar was at that time living in Norway where he was working on music in a few bands, most notably his own Fortíð and Curse. He was planning on moving back to Iceland in the autumn but his plans changed again shortly after arriving in Iceland. That in turn changed all plans of the co-op and due to busy schedules of all involved we weren't able to find time where we were all available so Katla ended up as a two-man project instead of three. We still consider Atli Jarl as the third member of the co-op, an honorary member if you will, and Kaldidalur, the first song we publish of our forthcoming 7 inch (titled Ferðalok) is dedicated to him.

"We haven't decided yet if we'll keep the co-operation going, but if we will we're hoping it will be in the form of the originally planned trio. It is both a coincidence and not that we decide to publish our first song on this day, January 19th, exactly a year after I was illegally forced out of my previous band. Today is my girlfriend's birthday, and I want to be able to remember this date in the future for something else than the day my life's work was stolen from me. The songs were finished in early January so I thought it was a perfect chance to reclaim this date with something positive. It is time for Katla to erupt again!
