Tony Martin + Andy La Rocque + Magnus Rosén

Message par Gandalf »

Dernier message de la page précédente :

Vocalist Tony Martin (BLACK SABBATH), bassist Magnus Rosén (HAMMERFALL), guitarist Andy La Rocque (KING DIAMOND) and drummer Danny "Danté" Needham (VENOM, TONY MARTIN) have joined forces in an as-yet-unnamed new "supergroup." The band is currently working on music at La Rocque's Sonic Train Studios in Varberg, Sweden as well as in England. More information will be made available soon.

Martin took part in two Swedish workshops in Sweden this past weekend — on Friday, February 25 at Gothenburg's Musikstationen (which is owned by Magnus Rosén and Nikolas Gialtrinos) and on Saturday, February 26 at Falköping's Musikskolan.

La Rocque and Rosén previously collaborated in the X-WORLD/5 project, which issued its debut album, "New Universal Order", in North America in November 2008 via Locomotive Records. The group also included PAGAN'S MIND vocalist Nils K. Rue. La Rocque and Rosén were also involved with POWERHOUSE, the Swedish supergroup which included Anders Johansson (HAMMERFALL, ex-YNGWIE MALMSTEEN) on drums, Mats Olausson (ex-YNGWIE MALMSTEEN) on keyboards and Mikael Ågren (ex-NOSTRADAMEUS) on vocals and guitar.

Martin's last solo album, "Scream", was released in November 2005 via MTM Music. The CD featured legendary drummer Cozy Powell (BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW, WHITESNAKE) on the track "Raising Hell" as well as songwriting contributions by another SABBATH member, Geoff Nicholls.

Tony Martin / Dario Mollo - The Third Cage

http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbe ... adlines%29

Sortie fin janvier chez Frontiers.
Frontiers Records has set a January 24, 2012 North American release date (four days earlier in Europe) for the long-awaited new MOLLO/MARTIN album, entitled "The Third Cage".

Dario Mollo and Tony Martin first got together when the Italian guitar player/produced and composer needed the right singer after the put together a new set of songs in the late '90s. The former BLACK SABBATH frontman's involvement came about on a suggestion from producer Kit Woolven (UFO, THIN LIZZY) with whom Mollo had been working during his CROSSBONES years. Martin wrote lyrics and melodies for the amazing tracks that Dario had already assembled, and thus THE CAGE was born.

THE CAGE's first album, released independently in 1999, gained a great success among the hard rock fans and the critics and Dario started finally to make himself a reputation over the international markets. This debut was later followed by an equally acclaimed second album in 2002.

Mollo has been very busy since then, releasing one more album with the VOODOO HILL project with Glenn Hughes. He then toured Europe with Graham Bonnet and Don Airey. After Don became a permanent DEEP PURPLE member, Dario and Graham Bonnet formed ELEKTRIC ZOO, touring Europe again, performing songs from RAINBOW, ALCATRAZZ, VOODOO HILL and THE CAGE. In 2008 Dario released an album with the more alt-rock Italian band NOIZE MACHINE, before getting again to work on a new set of hard-rocking songs for a new record with Martin.

"As usual, we are 50/50 partners," explains Mollo. "I write all the music and Tony then contributes with the melodies and lyrics. We also try together different structures of the tracks and we rearrange them to better fit the vocal parts. Then I go ahead and take care of the entire production of the album, tracking, mixing and mastering."

The songwriting, the sound and the video production of this new project are absolutely stunning and show the great skills that Mollo has developed in the past few years. All hard rock lovers should simply not miss this record which bravely melts several influences in a cutting edge release. "There are much better songs, performances and production on this album, plus we will finally bring this project live out there: we have a lot of great songs to perform to our loyal fans, we look forward to meet them," concludes Mollo.

"The Third Cage" track listing:

01. Wicked World
02. Cirque Du Freak
03. Oh My Soul
04. One Of The Few
05. Still In Love With You
06. Can't Stay Here
07. Wardance
08. Don't Know What It Is About You

A cover version of the MEGADETH song "How The Story Ends" from Italian guitarist Aldo Giuntini's GIUNTINI "Project IV" album can be streamed in the YouTube clip below. Released on May 24 via Escape Music, the CD features lead vocals by none other than Tony Martin (pictured below; ex-BLACK SABBATH), with the help of Ezio Secomandi (on drums), Dario Patti (on keyboards) and Fulvio Gaslini (on bass).

Says Martin of the "How The Story Ends" cover: "[This is] not my usual style but [it was] MASSIVE fun to do ... Respect to the deths \m/\m/ ... ohhhhhh yeah!"

Regarding the six-year gap between the last two GIUNTINI albums, Aldo says: "My way of writing and producing the songs needs a lot of time. One could say I am a perfectionist, but when I have musical ideas for my guitar, I often have the other guys working with their own inputs: Also I need to have Tony Martin to work on the lyrics at the end, so this takes away a lot of time."

He adds: "I wanted to have Tony again, because he is my favorite voice and I think that the blend of our styles is just perfect!

"'Project IV' continues the line of 'Project II', 'III', musically and I'm sure that who loved my second, and third work will appreciate the 'IV' album in the same way and more, since the production work is a lot improved this time and produced by Dario Mollo (MOLLO / MARTIN)."

According to a press release, "The sound of Giuntini's work is a combination of the warmth and the power of BLACK SABBATH's 'Headless Cross', 'Tyr', RAINBOW's 'Long Live Rock & Roll' and 'Rising' and DIO's 'Holy Diver' with energetic sound of LOUDNESS, the Japanese metal heroes! Giuntini's guitar playing is mainly influenced by Akira Takasaki, Vivian Campbell, Edward Van Halen, Jake E. Lee, John Norum and, of course, Yngwie Malmsteen."

GIUNTINI "Project IV" track listing:

01. Perfect Sorrow (3:08)
02. Born In The Underworld (5:17)
03. Shadow Of The Stone (3:58)
04. Cured (4:08)
05. I Don't Believe In Fortune (4:03)
06. If The Dream Comes True (4:45)
07. The Rise And Fall Of Barry Lyndon (4:33)
08. Bring On The Night (4:20)
09. Not The Jealous Kind (4:32)
10. Saint Or Sinner (3:57)
11. Last Station: Nightmare (5:19)
12. How The Story Ends (4:24)
13. Truth Never Lie (5:12)

On peut aussi l'entendre ici :

About the song (by Tony Martin)

The story is misunderstood actually, its supposed to be a father telling a daughter he went through the same loss of love when he was her age and understands what she is saying but it kinda comes across like the old dude is trying to get off with the young girl hehehe … not the case, in fact the video of me with the young girl is me and my REAL daughter when she was 3 years old ….

I was asked to take part in the song and video … i was happy enough to oblige … and we became pretty good friends … Layla’s husband did all the video shoot and actually produced the track too … he was working with EMI for some years and is very knowledgeable about the industry ..

Layla’s voice is hard to get around .. you either like it or dont … for me it was cool to be working with a young artist from Germany.

I got an award for reaching number one in the download charts with this!

Former BLACK SABBATH singer Tony Martin was interviewed by Metal Jacket Magazine two days before his May 16 performance in Zagreb, Croatia as a guest at a concert of Zele Lipovača, longtime guitarist of the Bosnian heavy metal band DIVLJE JAGODE. You can now watch the chat below. A couple of excerpta follow (transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET).

On his upcoming solo album and autobiography:

Tony: "Well, it’s changed. It started off as 'Book Of Shadows', but now I can't use that, 'cause that's been used a couple of times now. So then it went through a couple of other changes, and now I'm thinking it might be called 'Think No Evil'. It's really the story of me, from before BLACK SABBATH, through BLACK SABBATH and after, so it's like a whole biography thing. But I also have personal video that I took on the tour bus, backstage, in the studio and stuff like that, and I wanna put that on a DVD in the book, but I'm just finding it slightly difficult to get a publisher to do the video part and the book together. Publishers don't usually release DVDs, so you have to go to somebody else and get the DVD and them getting them to coordinate to put the two things together, it's a bit difficult. And there's lots of people talking about it. But for now, I just keep writing and putting all the stories in, and hopefully it'll come at the end of the year — I hope."

On the status of the previously proposed reissues of albums from his era of BLACK SABBATH, featuring bonus material, including some new music:

Tony: "It is definitely possible. I spoke to [BLACK SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi] just a few weeks ago. He's bought a new house and he's building a new studio. He said he needs to set that up and get that all ready. But when he's ready, I'm happy to do it, and I know he wants to do it. And just the fact that he wants to do it, it's, like, 'Oh, yeah. That's cool.' [Laughs] 'That's cool.' 'Cause those albums have been deleted for a long time, and I think they could sound better. Especially 'Forbidden' — oooohhhh… I hate that. It was the end of my time with BLACK SABBATH, so it's so… When I listen to it now, I think how I could make it better. So if he gives me the chance, I would love to do that again. Yeah, the possibility is definitely there. If he doesn't die… [Laughs] But, yes, I'm happy to think that it will be sometime soon."

On BLACK SABBATH's much-maligned "Forbidden" album not sounding like a true SABBATH release:

Tony: "I told [Iommi] that. It was me, Cozy Powell and Geoff Nicholls, I think, who is also not with us now. We were saying that 'this is not BLACK SABBATH.' And I understand what they were trying to do — the RUN-D.M.C. thing — but no, it didn't work. It didn't work. I have demos from the rehearsals, and it sounded really cool — really hard, and some of the songs are really kicking it. So I would love to re-record that. And if I got the chance, I'd actually like to re-write some of the lyrics, because my head wasn't there in the album. But if I get the chance, we'll have a go."

On the status of the long-awaited follow-up to his last solo album, "Scream", which was released in November 2005 via MTM Music:

Tony: "Well, there was supposed to be a trilogy with 'Scream' — so it was 'Clean', 'Mean' and 'Scream'. So there was supposed to be a light rock [album called] 'Clean'. Then the 'Mean' album was going to be more like grungy, sort of dirty rock. And then 'Scream' was was supposed to be the heavy metal album. And they said, 'No. You can only do the 'Scream' one.' So I didn't get the chance to do the other two. One day, I'd like to complete the trilogy — the 'Clean', 'Mean' and 'Scream' — which shows the — in brackets, the 'talent' of Tony Martin, the different kinds of music that I can perform on. Again, that's a possibility. It's there waiting to be picked up, and I have the rights for that. So I just have to try and get this solo album out first and then maybe I can revisit some of the old things and get those out. I've got a lot of music that I could do. It's just time, really. I'm sixty years old now, so I'm running out of time."

Former BLACK SABBATH singer Tony Martin has officially commenced work on his long-awaited third solo album. Teamed with drummer Danny "Danté" Needham of TONY MARTIN'S HEADLESS CROSS and VENOM, and American guitarist Scott McClellan, Tony's new collection of songs currently has the working title of "Thornz". It was previously going to be released as "Book Of Shadows", but that title was dropped because of other works under the same name.

According to Martin, his new material is heavier than he has attempted in the past due to the prolific writings of unknown guitarist Scott McClellan who contacted him by chance on social media some four years ago. Scott sent Tony a guitar track to check out and this chance meeting grew into a very productive writing period that has resulted in this solo release for Martin.

Tony said: "Scott really surprised me with his energy. I found that I could pull out the riffs that really work for my voice, so I was more than happy to have him involved in the 'Tony Martin project.'"

"Thornz" is expected to include ten tracks, mostly written by Martin and McClellan and some by Martin alone. Apart from the title track — the story of a woman struggling with being abused — there is the previously cited "Book Of Shadows" still in the track list along with "No Shame At All", "As The World Burns" and "Damned By You", among others.

Martin's new material is missing keyboards completely in favor of guitar-based riffs. The singer says that it "was hard to lose" his onetime BLACK SABBATH bandmate Geoff Nicholls, who also played on Tony's last solo album, 2005's "Scream", and he felt he could not attempt to replace that part of the sound.

Martin says that, at 60 years old, "Thornz" is likely to be his last solo project, but doesn’t rule out future embellishments to his solo career. He added that it would not affect any reconnection with SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi, if and when that happens.
