Night Flight Orchestra (projet rock du chanteur de Soilwork)

Il a de belles références musicales, et le line-up comprendra notamment Sharlee d'Angelo à la basse.
Vocalist Björn "Speed" Strid of Sweden-based metallers SOILWORK has issued the following update:

"Songwriting mania has just begun for both SOILWORK and another act I would like to introduce you to. I have just launched my solo project that so far remains nameless. I have somewhat of a clear picture in my head of how the music will sound like. This might come as a shock to some of you but think 'Welcome to my Nightmare' by ALICE COOPER, 'Destroyer' with KISS, early AEROSMITH, a dose of 'Born to Run' with BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN, a rocked-out ELVIS, some Motown, first BOSTON album and some early STEELY DAN etc...

"How about it, folks? The sound is gonna be dirty, retro, classic rock with horns, strings and some spaced-out percussion.

"I always wanted to do a real atmospheric rock album which has a pretentious, yet dirty, dirty feel to it. It's gonna be one hell of a project to make this all happen, but I will give it the pace it deserves; just wanted to introduce you to it.

"The lineup so far features Sharlee D’ Angelo (ARCH ENEMY, ex-MERCYFUL FATE) on bass and David Andersson (session guitar SOILWORK) and will be completed within a near future.

"In today's scene, I guess it will be hard to find the right label for this; not really metal label material, I suppose.

The Night Flight Orchestra, who also features Sharlee D'Angelo from ARCH ENEMY, recently signed with Coroner Records for the worldwide release of its debut album.

The Night Flight Orchestra started like so many others as an innocent yet serious drunken idea when Björn Strid and David Andersson (MEAN STREAK, Soilwork session player) were on the road together somewhere in North America in 2007. Björn and David were bonding over what they considered classic or not, from rock n' roll conspiracies to being arrested in a lobby with nothing but leather pants on.

It didn't take long before bass player Sharlee D'Angelo joined forces as well as keyboard player Richard Larsson (Von Benzo) and drummer Jonas Källsbäck (Mean Streak).

The goal was to reclaim the '70's/early '80's sense for classic melody, the forgotten recipe to a timeless song, preferably a song mentioning a city, street name or an exhilarating alcoholic beverage. Anything that will have you spitting out the word classic.

Swedish classic/progressive rock supergroup THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA — featuring members of metal frontrunners SOILWORK and ARCH ENEMY — will release its third studio album, "Amber Galactic", on May 19 via Nuclear Blast. The disc was recorded at Handsome Hard Studio in Lund, Sweden. The album follows THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA's two previous releases, 2012's "Internal Affairs" and 2015's "Skyline Whispers".

Commented singer Björn Strid: "'Amber Galactic' was made during late nights and way too early mornings, when sometimes, in the corner of your eye, you can catch a glimpse of another dimension, where all the women are heartbroken space commanders in evening gowns, the champagne is always free and the drugs won't hurt you.

"We wanted to create more than just a listening experience; instead we want it to be an alternative reality.

"We hope that after listening to 'Amber Galactic', you'll be wide-eyed, horny and slightly drunk."

Guitarist David Andersson adds: "Musicianship in itself is not interesting, neither are the technical aspects of creating music. The ideas and visions behind the music are the only things really worthy of in-depth discussions.

"We've all reached a point where we can all pretty much play and sing whatever we want.

"We didn't talk much about chord changes or amplifiers during the recording sessions. But we spent a lot of time discussing Kierkegaard's concept of anxiety, different vintages of sparkling wine, the psychoacoustic aspects of modulation, the innate superiority of women and why a pearl necklace always look better when whoever wears it has a bored expression on her face."

When asked about the direction of THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA within the realm of classic rock, Strid explains with a chuckle: "Most other classic rock bands sound like weed or LSD — we sound like cocaine."

THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA is:

Björn Strid - Vocals
Sharlee D'Angelo - Bass
David Andersson - Guitar
Richard Larsson - Keyboards
Jonas Källsbäck - Drums
Sebastian Forslund - Guitar, Percussion

Swedish classic/progressive rock supergroup THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA — featuring members of SOILWORK and ARCH ENEMY — will release its fourth studio album, "Sometimes The World Ain't Enough", on June 29 via Nuclear Blast. The disc was again produced by the bandmembers themselves and was recorded at Handsome Hard Music / Larsson Music Studio as well as Nordic Sound Lab in Skara, Sweden. Mixing duties were taken on by the band's guitarist/percussionist Sebastian Forslund and mastering was done by Thomas "Plec" Johansson at The Panic Room.

Just like 2017's "Amber Galactic", the LP will feature two different covers (see below) — one for the regular and the other for the limited edition.

The limited first-edition digipack CD, as well as the vinyl, will include an exclusive bonus track. The Japanese version will also feature an additional cut.

"Sometimes The World Ain't Enough" track listing:

01. This Time
02. Turn To Miami
03. Paralyzed
04. Sometimes The World Ain't Enough
05. Moments Of Thunder
06. Speedwagon
07. Lovers In The Rain
08. Can't Be That Bad
09. Pretty Thing Closing In
10. Barcelona
11. Winged And Serpentine
12. The Last Of The Independent Romantics
13. Marjorie (limited-edition digipack CD and vinyl bonus track)
14. Pacific Priestess (Japanese bonus track)

THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA said in a statement: "THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA returns with another chapter in their steaming space opera that began with 'Amber Galactic'.

"This time, the female space commanders want even more revenge than they already had, space is even more infinite, and the amount of champagne it takes to keep this navy afloat and adrift in the cosmos is probably illegal on most planets!

"Never looking back, THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA boldly goes where no man or woman has ever gone before, and with this album, they've taken another step in their quest to elevate classic rock from being a music genre to becoming an immersive whole-body transcendental experience!

"It's time to prepare yourself, because the riffs will be riffier, the vocals will be throatier, the synthesizers will envelop you, the AOR will be AOR-ier, the long songs will be longer, the short songs will be shorter, the bass will seduce you, the drums will destroy you, the groove will hypnotize and paralyze you. Can you handle it?"
