Roberto Tiranti vient de quitter le groupe, son remplaçant est le très prisé Mark Boals (Dio Disciples, Ring of Fire, ex-Iron Mask).

The announcement from guitarist/composer Olaf Thorsen reads: "As everybody already knows, Roberto has decided to part ways with the band in order to start his solo career. We wish him all the best and we thank him for the long walk we have had together. At the same time "the show must go on", as somebody said, and the good news is that we have started working on the new album. This is not the only good news, anyway, 'cause we are incredibly excited and honored to announce that our new singer is none other than a top-notch artist and a piece of history in the metal world: we warmly welcome Mr. Mark Boals on board and we can't wait to let you all listen to some of the new songs we are working on! Sincerely yours, Labyrinth"

Mark Boals c'est aussi et surtout Yngwie Malmsteen's Rising Force et Royal Hunt.

Mark Boals a quand même un peu tendance à devenir le Ripper du metal néoclassique.

Bon là c'est un poil différent avec Labyrinth.

It's been a while since we've had any updates from Labyrinth. The last we've heard of them, the power/prog metallers announced Mark Boals as their new singer but he is no longer in the band. However, there is good news today! Labyrinth are currently working hard on the songwriting for their highly anticipated comeback album, which is planned for release on Frontiers Music Srl in 2017.

"We have written, so far, seven complete songs which we are very pleased with," says guitar player Olaf Thörsen. "We have some very heavy and fast songs and a few more proggy and melodic. We will end up writing 10 or 11 songs for the new album. We think we know what the fans are expecting from us and I am absolutely confident that everyone will love the new songs. There are lots of killer melodies and the sound will be definitely and recognizably 100% Labyrinth!"

Labyrinth's reunion line-up features founding members Olaf Thörsen and Andrea Cantarelli on guitars and the return of Roberto Tiranti on lead vocals along with none other than John Macaluso (Yngwie Malmsteen, James LaBrie, Riot, Symphony X, Starbreaker, TNT and Ark) on drums, Oleg Smirnoff (Eldritch, Vision Divine, Death SS) on keyboards, and Nik Mazzucconi on bass.

"The new line-up is stronger than ever!" continues Olaf. "Me, Andrea and Roberto are enthusiastic for the contributions that the new guys are bringing to the band and their style will certainly enhance the Labyrinth sound and bring it into 2016 and beyond!"

Their first show with this new line-up will be at the Frontiers Metal Festival at the Live Music Club in Trezzo Sull'Adda on October 30th. The band will be exclusively playing their entire hit album Return To Heaven Denied plus a few more fan favorites.

More shows are planned for next year in support of the release of the new album.

L'autre très bonne info c'est qu'ils vont enregistrer leur concert au frontiers festival,avec un dvd à la clef!

After a seven-year hiatus, Italian metallers LABYRINTH will return with a brand new studio album, "Architecture Of A God", on April 21 via Frontiers Music Srl.

In the spring of 2016, the band's founding members, Andrea Cantarelli and Olaf Thorsen received a call from Frontiers asking them to discuss with vocalist Roberto Tiranti the possibilities of a reunion with a return to their classic sound to mount a comeback for the band. After much discussion, the guys agreed to make an album and also to make a very special appearance at the the first annual Frontiers Metal Festival, where they performed their signature album, "Return To Heaven Denied", in its entirety. [Said performance is being prepared for a future home video release.]

Olaf says: "This has been easily the most difficult and challenging album I ever worked on.

"To be honest, when Frontiers contacted me, insisting to make this reunion happen, I was skeptical and worried. We couldn't simply make a new album; it wouldn't have been honest to the fans, to ourselves.

"Of course, this is as easy to say as also unbelievably tough to make real: we have so many good albums out there, looking at us from their past and which people still keep in their minds and hearts. That's why we decided to strengthen our lineup, joining with nobody else but the best musicians we believed they would have fitted perfectly into our perspective of the music we were about to write."

Andrea adds: "The making of this album has been a fantastic journey. We brought back a lot of classic elements of our music, mixing it with something new and I'm so enthusiastic about the final result."

Roberto Tiranti makes it short: "Just when you thought you already gave everything you could, expressing every possible musical aspect of your way of intending music for a band like LABYRINTH, then comes 'Architecture Of A God' to remind you that nothing is impossible!"

With a new lineup rounded out by drummer extraordinaire John Macaluso (TNT, RIOT, ARK), Oleg Smirnoff (VISION DIVINE, EDRITCH) on keyboards, and Nik Mazzucconi on bass, LABYRINTH are truly coming back stronger than ever and have offered up a superb self-produced album. "Architecture Of A God" (mixed by DGM's Simone Mularoni) is a record that encompasses all the elements the band is known for: fast power metal songs with unforgettable hooks, epic prog-infused metal songs, and some great melodic numbers that compose a record which is easily going to be another milestone for the Italian metal masters!

"What we have in our hands, now, it's 'Architecture Of A God': by far, the most mature and complete album we ever wrote," concludes Thorsen.

"There's no will to challenge our glorious past, but I'm really confident that, once released, this album will set a new standard for our music!"

Le concert de cette "reformation" sort en live/DVD, basé sur Return to Heaven Denied :

LABYRINTH, Italy's finest purveryors of power/prog metal, held their first reunion show at Frontiers Metal Festival in Trezzo Sull'Adda on October 30, 2016. The revamped lineup played "Return To Heaven Denied", the band's most popular record (so far), in its entirety for only the second time ever. The landmark album was originally released by Metal Blade in 1998 and is considered by many to be one of the highlights of the power metal genre in the late '90s.

LABYRINTH's Olaf Thorsen says: "It was a real mix of feelings to play 'Return To Heaven Denied' in its entirety as it was something which we never did before, not even during the many tours we did back in '98-'99! It is even crazier when you think that this was our very first live show with our new lineup, but when we saw so many people from different countries singing every single song with us, we just felt that it has all been worth it. Unforgettable."

A recording of the Frontiers Metal Festival performance, "Return To Live", will be released as a CD/DVD and Blu-ray on January 26, 2018 via Frontiers Music Srl.

Enfin ! Ça fait un moment qu'ils devaient le sortir ! Achat immédiat pour moi. Album fabuleux. Le petit dernier est excellent aussi.

Forcément j'avais le cd depuis sa sortie, mais avoir la vidéo c'est bien sympa aussi. Un des tous meilleurs albums de speed mélodique, pas vieilli un brin.

Tout a fait,une merveille cet album.Intemporel ! j'ai le blu ray de la version live.Très bonne prestation du groupe,juste pour moi un petit bémol au niveau du jeu du batteur (qui est pourtant un très bon batteur reconnu).Par moment,je trouve qu'il est décalé et qu'il peine à suivre.Mais bon c'est vrai que sur des passages speed pas évident ! Anyway j’espère que ça va bien pour toi Gandalf en ces temps...troublés.Jette une oreille sur le dernier Labyrinth (le prochain arrive d'ici quelques mois), a savoir "architecture of a god", il est excellent ! (le dernier DGM aussi fabuleux).Take care !

J'ai un album du groupe qui traine chez moi, Labyrinth, assez sympa je dois avouer !

Sympa !

J'aime bien le passage calme de "The Absurd Circus", quels solis ! Le chanteur a une chouette voix qui colle bien.

Le seul bémol pour moi c'est les synthés qui sonnent trop "Dream Theater". Mais ils ont un coté Helloween qui compense.
