Je n'avais pas trop regardé le haut de l'affiche, mais ouais c'est vrai.

C'était bien la mochette finale.

Vocalist Kevin Goocher announced that he has re-joined U.S. metal legends Omen and will be heard on the upcoming new release "Hammer Damage," which is to be released via DSN Music, with distribution via Pure Steel Records. In a post on his Facebook wall, Goocher stated:

"I am proud to announce that I am singing with Omen again. I am happy to be back with Kenny Powell, Andy Haas, and Steve Wittig after all of these years. I am currently working on the vocals for the Hammer Damage album that will be released soon on Pure Steel Records and DSN Music. This album will be great! We have dates booked for South America with Manilla Road in July and UP THE HAMMERS FESTIVAL in 2015 as well as Kronic Productions Hell Fest in June. We are on the verge of epicness and the saga continues....."

Goocher was with the band from 1998-2003, having previously performed on the 2003 album "Eternal Black Dawn," the last Omen studio release. He replaces Matt Story, who had joined in 2011. Omen's current lineup is:

ah merde j'espérais un autre chanteur, j'ai pas du tout aimé son chant sur le précédent...

quoique 11 ans après, des cigarettes et quelques hectolitres de whisky après, faut lui laisser une chance

Ce sont surtout les compos que j'avais trouvée peu inspirées sur l'album précédent, qui remonte à plus de 10 ans mine de rien.

The release date of the OMEN album „Hammer Demage“ on CD is May 27th, 2016. The first edition comes with a special colored grey tray. The officially pre-order phase will start on May 13th, 2016 in our webshop. But we'll do a presale of the CD at the Keep It True festival in Germany

With the signing of US Metal legend OMEN, an old dream of ours has come true. For us, at Pure Steel Records, classic albums like “Battle Cry” and “Warning of Danger” are historical contributions to the metal world. With a striking release entitled “Hammer Damage”, the first studio album since “Eternal Black Dawn” (2003), OMEN is back in the saddle and means serious business. The new album was mixed by Kenny Powell and mastered by QuSound Studio/Michael Kusch.

When listening to epic and catchy power hymns such as “Hammer Damage” (the incisive title track) or the hard pounding “Cry Havoc” or the masculine pathos “Hellas”, fans of the Californian quartet will completely go crazy. Already active in OMEN between 1998 and 2009, Kevin Goocher (also Phantom X), with his raspy voice, will often remind you of the late J.D. Kimball, while guitarist Kenny Powell, also part of the 2016 lineup, has obviously not lost any of the striking guitar skills he displayed during Omen’s glorious early days.

With “Hammer Damage”, OMEN clearly show that they are ready to reclaim their throne as masters of unadulterated US Metal.

La pochette est une allusion directe aux albums Warning Of Danger et The Curse.

13 ans pour pondre un nouvel album quand même, certains auraient eu le temps de splitter et se reformer 3 fois dans cet intervalle de temps.

Je l'ai acheté au KIT. Écouté une fois dans la bagnole sur le retour, m'a pas trop marqué, notamment à cause de la prod bancale ou du chanteur qui cherche trop à imiter Kimball.

Enfin écouté. C'est tout comme le dit Keyser : prod très moyenne (Powell en est conscient d'ailleurs), Goocher (qui n'a plus du tout la même voix qu'en 2003) cherchant à imiter Kimball mais est toujours loin d'avoir son feeling, et globalement des compos pas formidables. Bref, une arlésienne qui se termine sur un album sans grand intérêt...

Quelques news à savoir un split avec Battleroar, et des changements de line-up. Avec des références (trop) systématiques à Battle Cry.

Cruz Del Sur Music has announced the upcoming 7" split release from epic metal legends Omen and Battleroar. The 7" will feature two previously unreleased tracks, Omen's "Up From The Deep" and Battleroar's "Stronghold." It will be released as a deluxe edition during Omen's April/May European tour; specifically at Keep It True 2017, where the band will play alongside with Cirith Ungol, Manilla Road, and Atlantean Kodex, among others.

Battleroar's "Stronghold" is in the same style as the fastest and heaviest songs on their last album, Blood of Legends (Cruz Del Sur, 2014). The song features a massive rhythmic punch to go along with great leads and Gerrit's classic, epic/melodic vocals.

Omen's "Up From The Deep" sounds as if it was taken directly from 1984's Battle Cry. War cries introduce the legendary Omen sound, with Kenny Powell painting a majestic tapestry of guitar notes above which Kevin Goocher delivers a brazen, complementary vocal performance.

Both bands have faced line-up changes in recent months and the 7''offers the opportunity to demonstrate the new line-ups' power and chemistry. Battleroar just announced the addition of Greg Vlachos (ex-Marauder) on drums, and Michael Kontogiorgis (ex-Spitfire, Exoristoi, etc) on guitars as permanent members.

Omen just announced on their Facebook page the addition of two new members. Both are Kenny Powell's and Kevin Goocher's long-time partners in crime: Roger Sisson wrote many of the Battle Cry riffs but was never actually part of the line-up. Now after 30 years he's the official bassist. And the new drummer, Reece Stanley, was in the Phantom X line-up together with Kevin.
