Eh bien, figure toi que je prefere même les derniers Exodus à ce 1er Hatriot.Et pourtant le moins que l'on puisse dire c'est que je ne suis pas fan de Rob Dukes,ni de Andy Sneap.
Mais au moins dans les derniers Exodus il y a un peu plus de personnalité, les riffs ont un peu plus de caractere; et Gary Holt est un meilleur parolier que Steve Souza.
Hatriot se vante de jouer du thrash old school, mais personnellement je ne trouve pas leur thrash si old school que ça.

les riffs je dis pas, ils sont nettement plus simplet, mais pour la voix et les compos c'est avantage Hatriot, pas spécialement old school mais bien efficace... y a un côté bien jouissif, plus simple et direct que j'apprécie.
Après le côté "on thrash en famille" je suis pas plus fan que ça mais bon, ce premier album était une relative bonne surprise tant j'en attendais rien.
J'ai en aimé le premier Hatriot, mais sans plus. Un peu simpliste pour moi et donc pas une très grande durée de vie. Mas bien quand même.
Du coup, quand ils annoncent, que les morceaux seront plus longs et variés, ça me plait! (un peu comme Exodus, le pb dans Exodus n'étant pas forcément la durée des titres mais le chant hurlé et pas hyper mélodique)

Je trouve les morceaux d'Hatriot que j'ai écoutés sur youtube assez neutres et génériques et il n'y a que la voix de Linda de Souza qui m'intéresse dessus. Je trouve qu'il est LA voix d'Exodus et qu'il apportait le côté fun qui manque à Exodus depuis malgré la vigueur incontestable de Rob Dukes. Avant Exodus c'était Good Friendly, Violent & Fun maintenant c'est juste Good & Violent, c'est déjà bien mais ça pourrait être mieux.
J'ai pas trouvé le premier album hallucinant en soit (sans parler du truc en famille et de l'ensemble qui fait un peu DIY parfois), mais franchement en live ça a envoyé du bois pour la première date en Europe, pourtant j'en attendais pas grand chose. Bien plus Exodus que le Exodus actuel à mon sens (sans parlr de la cover à la fin du set, et de celle de Legacy ).
J'accroche pas plus que ça à ce nouveau morceau, mais je retourne les voir dès que je peux quand même.

Le père Souza étant bien occupé avec Exodus, c'est son fils Cody, qui assurera le chant désormais :
As some already may know Zetro will not be fulfilling the Vocal duties in Hatriot. Zetro has a made a full come back with Exodus, and had originally agreed to perform in both bands full time. At the time we were content with Zetro to remain in Hatriot and Exodus. Due to the impact of him returning to Exodus, their recent successful release, and their current hype it had become complicated for Zetro to preform vocals in both bands. We had come to the conclusion as a band not to get a new singer and instead promote Cody, Zetro’s Son, to Bass guitar and Vocals. Cody sounds very much in the Vain of his father. During Zetro’s time away Cody would fulfill Vocals on various practices and shows. Zetro will continue being a part of the Hatriot Camp assisting in running operations, writing lyrics, and overseeing the band as a whole. We are Hard at work on our third studio album, which will debut Cody Souza on Vocals. We will be adding the song “From My Cold Dead Hands” off our sophomoric album Dawn Of The New Centurion on our band page featuring Cody on vocals.

San Francisco Bay Area thrashers HATRIOT have released the lyric video for a new demo song called "Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed". The track, which is one of the band's first to be recorded without EXODUS singer Steve "Zetro" Souza, will be re-recorded for the band's upcoming album, tentatively due late next year.
Says HATRIOT: "The video was done by Mike Sloat, recordings by Abel Torres, and image by Kevin Paterson.
"The lyrics are metaphorically driven for heinous people on death row like pedophiles, serial killers, and other monsters of that sort.
"In the song, the mid-to-high-level shrieking are the villagers hunting the monster and the low death metal growls are the point of view of the monster.
"Now that Steve 'Zetro' Souza is full time with EXODUS, we wanted to tap more of our death metal influence such as THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, REVOCATION, SKELETONWITCH and DEATH while still keeping true to HATRIOT's Bay Area roots such as EXODUS, TESTAMENT, DEATH ANGEL and MACHINE HEAD."
The vocals in HATRIOT are now being handled by Zetro's son Cody Souza.
In a 2015 interview with DC Heavy Metal, Zetro stated about HATRIOT: "[Cody] does a really, really good job at [the vocals for the band]. So him and I are writing songs together 'cause he's not a lyricist yet, but he's learning and he's gonna be great. I'm watching over them. I'm making sure they get going."
Zetro sang on HATRIOT's first two albums, 2013's "Heroes Of Origin" and 2014's "Dawn Of The New Centurion".
J en ai profité pour réécouter les albums avec Zetro et je trouve ça finalement meilleur que Blood in blood out et plus fidèle au Exodus de sa période. Ne serait ce que dans sa façon de chanter.
San Francisco Bay Area thrash metal outfit HATRIOT will release its new album, "From Days Unto Darkness", on July 26 via Massacre Records. The disc marks the group's first release with Cody Souza on the microphone, following the departure of his father, Steve "Zetro" Souza (now back in EXODUS).
Paolo Girard created a very symbolic album cover by featuring themes based upon the horrors around the end of the world, the hypocrisy that surrounds religion and corrupt world leaders, and the carnage bestowed on the final days of humanity.
You can look forward to an album with grim, nefarious lyrics dealing with subjects like the end of the world, conspiracy theories, horror icons, and a new world order, among others.
The album will be available as CD digipak, limited-edition vinyl LP as well digitally, and is going to be available for pre-order soon.
