American/German symphonic metallers KAMELOT have announced the addition of Scandinavian singer Tommy Karevik to the group's ranks.
The general public may not be overly familiar with the 30-year-old Swede Karevik, but people in the industry know him as the immensely talented frontman of the Swedish band SEVENTH WONDER.
Commented KAMELOT guitarist Thomas Youngblood: "We had around 800 candidates for the vacant position, among them a number of really renowned musicians, and having to reject them really wasn't easy. We want to thank all the applicants, thank you for your understanding and we wish you all lots of success in the future!"
In their search for a new singer, Youngblood found YouTube to be an amazing tool: "I listened to a clip of a studio production featuring Tommy and have to confess that his performance really amazed me," he said. "His approach to melodies and themes suits KAMELOT perfectly, and during our European shows we had plenty of opportunity to find out what a great guy he is."
Tommy first appeared as one of the guest singers on KAMELOT's very successful 2011 Pandemonium World Tour (see footage below). Tommy states: "The tour was a lot of fun and I met a lot of nice people and got some good experience. The guys were super nice and we had a great time together! By then I was really into the band's music and had fallen in love with the amazingly loyal and dedicated fans at every show."
Karevik is thrilled about his new position. "I am so honored to now be a part of this family and I can`t wait to move into the new era of the band together with the guys," he said. "I fully understand that this comes with great responsibility and that it will be a big challenge for me as a singer as well as a person, but you can rest assured I will give it my all. From this day, a new journey has begun and I am really eager to meet you all along the way to share my passion for this music!"

It is not a secret that I have been in close contact with the Kamelot crew for some time now. I played with them on Progpower 2010 and I joined them on the european part of the tour in the spring of 2011. I learned a lot from this experience and had a great time together with the guys. Of course musically it is a bit different from the SW style but to me, that is also what makes it interesting and challenging. Over the past months I have come to love the music and the vibe of the band and when I finally and officially was asked to join as the singer and full blown member of Kamelot I was very happy and gladly accepted! This is something I am really proud of and something I am looking forward to making my own. However I do want to say this... and this is very important to me...
I will not leave Seventh Wonder!
The SW guys and all of you fantastic and supportive fans out there will not get rid of me so easily!
I love you all and you are the reason I got to where I am today! We are already working on some stuff for the next SW album and really can`t wait to show it to you all!

Moi je trouve ça assez normal, surtout pour Khan, je trouve presque plus délirant de continuer à un niveau comme Kamelot ou tu n'as pas suffisamment d'argent pour être à l'abris du besoin, et ou tu sais que tu vas galérer encore et encore sans jamais aller plus haut. Le mieux c'est d'être soit un groupe assez important pour ne pas avoir tout ces soucis ou alors plus petit ou du coup tu es obligé d'avoir un job à coté et du coup ça reste que du plaisir, mais quand tu es au stade ou tu vis de la musique mais mal, à la longue ça use et je comprends qu'on ai envie de stabilité, surtout si on a fondé une famille !
Tu crois qu'il a quitté Kamelot pour des questions financières ? je ne savais pas.Qu'il est choisi a un moment de jeter l’éponge avec l'excellent Conception car effectivement il ne devait pas en vivre pleinement ça je le pensais et que a un moment il était temps de gagner sa vie "correctement" dans la musique.
Je croyais que Khan était surmené par les tournées de Kamelot et après des tensions il a décidé de quitter le groupe.
De plus le fond ma pensée était que c'est toujours dommage qu'un chanteur aussi talentueux ne continue pas a se faire entendre (alors qu'un paquet de tocards continuent !!! ) et passe a autre chose.Et pour DeGarmo clairement ce n’était pas une histoire d'argent quand il a quitté Queensryche mais un problème privé de tournées interminables et épuisantes pour lui (loin de sa famille)

Ah non j'en sais rien du tout hein ! , je fais juste des suppositions hasardeuse ! Mais je pense que c'est un tout :
- éreinté des tournées => pourquoi tournées si longue et en continu entre 2 albums ?
=> pour faire rentrer des sous car pas les moyens de prendre du repos !!!
Mais je parlais aussi de façon générale en prenant exemple sur lui, pour De Garmo effectivement c'est une autre histoire.
