NWOBHM legends TYGERS OF PAN TANG have issued the following update:

"2008 will prove to be an historic year for the TYGERS with a heavy touring schedule and new product available. The new album, 'Animal Instinct', is almost complete and mixing time has been booked with Ben Matthews for February 1-7. This will give plenty of time to receive the pressings and get them delivered to you by mid-April 2008. I know you're all keen to hear the new material and hopefully the 'Back & Beyond' EP will have whet your appetite for more.

"The album consists of 11 new tracks inc the two from the EP and will take you back 25 years to the glory days of British hard rock. The band are very excited with the results and we know you will just love the songs. We know there will be some sceptics out there, but just check it out first, before comment, we want you back onboard with the TYGERS and hopefully this product will do just that.

"We will be releasing 250 limited-editon collectors packages which will be available to pre-order from the website http://www.tygersofpantang.com as from Saturday, January 12. The package will consist of the CD signed and individualy numbered, you will also receive a numbered VIP pass which will give you an opportunity to be our guest for a day at a show of your choice (subject to availability) and win other prizes throughout the year. We plan to make two draws per month, one for the guest pass and the second for a consolation prize. The draw results will be advertised on the website and myspace site each month. There will be other small items also included such as badges, Tour flyers etc. This really will become a collector's item due to its very limited run.

"As from April the album will be available on general sale via the website, we are looking at the distribution of the CD at the moment and will let you know as soon as anything is confirmed. If you are planning to come and see the TYGERS live, the CD will also be available from the merchandise stand."

The CD sees the band "go back to their early roots, playing hard-edged rock in the manner of 'Wildcat' and 'Spellbound'," according to a press release.

The EP was mixed by Ben Matthews of THUNDER and released through THUNDER's record label.

Je viens d'écouter les extraits sur leur site et je suis très étonné : ça à l'air franchement bon! Je m'attendais à rien vu que les deux albums de la reformation me semblent médiocres avec un chanteur à la ramasse, mais là le nouveau chanteur est bien au dessus et Robb Weir semble particulièrement inspiré à la guitare. Comme quoi les vieilles gloire de la Nwobhm ont parfois encore des choses à dire.

Salut,

j'ai l'album depuis une semaine et ben je suis pas déçu, c'est bien le meilleur depuis Crazy nights , oublié les albums un peu mou style The Cage ou Burning in the shade, ou l'album de la reformation Mystical.

C'est le retour au feeling des premiers albums il y a quand même 27 ans ! : Spellbound et Wild cat, un peu plus rock quand même et avec une production actuelle, mais ils ont retrouvé leur syle c'est clair, du coup ça re- sonne à nouveau un peu comme les premiers Saxon aussi. Dire que j'ai failli pas le prendre , peur d'être encore déçu....

10/10 par rapport aux derniers Def Leppard et Whitesnake
7/10 si je compare aux 2 premiers, mais qui sont intouchables pour moi.

Pour moi, il faut le retour de Jess Cox. Ils n'ont pas fait mieux que "Wild Cat". Que ce soit produit par Chris Tsangarides, ça pas l'air d'avoir la qualité de "Metal On Metal"

Le précédent Animal Instinct était excellent , et j'ai encore en mémoire leur prestation du Kep it true festival qui avait été ma préférée de la journée. Il n'y en a que 2 avec lesquels j'ai du mal c'est the Wreck-age de 85 et Burning in the shades de 87.

Je l'embarquerais bien, mais pas vraiment la période pour moi...

tiens, je viens juste de me le prendre jeudi, et déjà écouté 3 fois, c'est du très bon Tygers, pas si éloigné que ça d'un Dokken de la grande époque. Le chanteur sonne très proche de Robert Plant et Sean Harris (Diamond Head).

J'avais hésité à le prendre à l'Underground Investigation, n'y trouvant pas le vinyle, mais du coup je vais sans doute me laisser tenter là.

2013 is shaping up to be an interesting year, there will be a new guitarist, a few live shows across the UK and Europe and as many Festivals as the band can play. We also really need to record and release 'The Crazy Nights Sessions' and as soon as the band has availability we will try and get these down in the studio for general release.

It is with a great deal of sadness that we are announcing the departure of Dean Robertson (Deano) from the Band. Dean has been a valued member for over 12 years and will be sorely missed. His contribution to the band was immense and he never failed to surprise with both his song writing and guitar playing skills. Further to that he is a great bloke and we will miss his humour particularly on the road when he kept everyone entertained throughout. For those who know Dean he is involved in many musical projects including Live Wire which keeps him busy most weekends, he also has a desire to write and record his own material and we would like to wish him every success with this. The band would like to publicly Thank Dean for everything and wish him well for the future. Auditions to replace Dean will be held shortly but we are keen to retain the North East heritage of the band. And the winner is...

If 2012 was a year to remember for the Tygers of Pan Tang with the release of the acclaimed studio album ‘Ambush’, then 2013 is set to be another!

It is with great pleasure that we can now introduce to you Michael McCrystal as the new guitarist for the Tygers of Pan Tang. Micky Crystal (as he is affectionately named) hails from the North East of England. He has been playing in local bands and doing the live circuit for a number of years now. Since the age of 18 he has also been teaching guitar for the Yamaha Music School.

Robb Weir comments “After Dean decided to leave the band late last year, our researchers checked out bands playing in the North East looking for a suitable replacement. It’s great to know that the rock and metal scene is so prominent, and there is still so much talent around!”

“Micky actually came to our attention through Gav and he was invited along to the auditions. Once Micky started playing with the band, it became obvious he had everything we were looking for. The recruitment process wasn’t easy and we would like to express our sincere thanks to all the other guitarists who auditioned for the Tygers.”

“We’re absolutely delighted to have Micky on board – he has an unbelievable talent. We can’t wait to start playing the live shows and laying down some new demo ideas.”

On joining the band, Micky said “It's a great privilege to be part of the Tygers and I'm very excited to work with such a great team of people. The rehearsals so far have been great and it’s safe to say I can't wait to get my claws into the live shows ahead!”
Micky takes up the position of Lead Guitarist with immediate effect. He follows on from some great guitarists and we are confident that you will be blown away by this new artist to the world’s stage.
