Joe Satriani : Live in Paris DVD

Message par Everflow »

Enregistré en mai 2008, tout le programme ci-dessous :
If there is one thing that can be said about veteran guitarist Joe Satriani, it is that he loves to play in front of a crowd. Now, his legions of fans worldwide will be ecstatic to learn that a recent live show was recorded just for them; more great musical moments captured forever.

Satriani's DVD recording of "Live in Paris: I Just Wanna Rock" is set to be released on February 2, 2010 through Epic Records. This very special recording depicts Satriani's stirring May 2008 performance in Paris, France. Some of his most memorable songs — "Surfing With The Alien", "Flying in a Blue Dream" — are matched with recent hits like "Super Colossal" and "I Just Wanna Rock".

Following the success of his other "live" DVD releases, "Satriani Live" in 2006 and "Live in San Francisco" in 2001, Satriani has gained new heights with "Live in Paris". The quality of music by the 15-time Grammy nominee is unquestionable, yet the extraordinary editing and artful stage lighting makes this Satriani "live" DVD a pleasure for the new viewer, as well as the long-time fan. An anticipated bonus offering on the "Live in Paris" DVD is the in-depth interview, unlike any other, with Satriani as well as behind-the-scenes footage. Also set for same day release is the companion 2-CD album for "Live In Paris: I Just Wanna Rock"!

Over the last two decades, Satriani has traveled the world, playing to sold-out crowds as both a headliner and as founder of the all-star "G3" guitar extravaganza. Of his 14 solo albums, two went platinum and four gold, with 15 Grammy nominations between them. In 2009, Satriani joined with former VAN HALEN frontman Sammy Hagar, former VH bassist Michael Anthony, and RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS' drummer Chad Smith, to form the standout rock collaboration CHICKENFOOT. Their debut self-titled album was recently certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America, with over 500,000 in album shipments.

J'ai vu récemment une vidéo de Satriani qui doit correspondre à ce DVD. C'est carrément de la merde !

Monté à l'inverse d'une quelconque logique musicale et des effets visuels merdiques toutes les 30s ! Insupportable ! :D

Joe Satriani - Black Swans And Wormhole Wizards

Message par Everflow »

Seule info pour l'instant, le line-up.
Legendary guitarist Joe Satriani has issued the following update:

"I'm heading to the studio in one month to start recording a new solo project with Jeff Campitelli (drums), Allen Whitman (bass) and Mike Keneally (keyboards). The new material is dying to be recorded, and I can't wait to get started. I don't have a title for the project yet, but I will let you know when I figure it out..."

http://iheartguitarblog.com/2010/10/int ... ani-2.html
Guitarist Joe Satriani is featured in a new interview with IHeartGuitarBlog.com. An excerpt is available below.

Q: First question: what prompted you to pursue such a live feel on the new album (Black Swans and Wormhole Wizards)?

Satriani: "I guess I had these two extended live periods between the two records. We finished the Satchafunkilus tour, then went right into recording and touring with CHICKENFOOT, and right after doing a number of shows that spilled over into this year I also went out with the Experience Hendrix tour. So there was a lot of variety of live performances that were informing what I was trying to do. Initially I was just trying to figure out a way to get my music and performances to reach people more deeply, and I thought I needed to make sure we recorded a band playing real vital performances around me, and that I become part of that process, so the record would have that kind of feel to it. I wanted it to be a really nice-sounding studio project but I wanted the feel to be very lively. I brought this subject up to my co-producer and engineer, Mike Fraser, and he put together a plan about how we were going to do it that he didn’t really discuss with me, so he could surprise me when we got into the studio. I usually start the recording process at home. I do a lot of the guitars, bass, keyboards and solo material and home and I bring it into the studio with a band, and I add parts live as the rest of the band plays those performances. Some of the songs were done that way and some were done completely live. Mike made them all fit together very well, and it turned out really well. I’m really happy with it."

Q: I’ve been a Joe Satriani fan for long enough that I know that when you call a song something simple like 'Dream Song', there’s probably a non-simple reason for it.

Satriani: "That one, I literally dreamt. I’ve never done that before. I had a dream that we me playing, writing and recording a song, and the sonic imagery was so strong that when I woke up abruptly that I remember turning to my wife and saying ‘I just dreamt an entire song! I’ve gotta go downstairs and record it!’ I just went right into the studio and before it evaporated from my memory, I recorded all the parts I had been dreaming, and in a few hours it was done. It was just incredible. After it was done I started to develop a lot of emotions about what I thought the song was about, but I thought it had to be called 'Dream Song' because that’s as close to the truth as you could get."

:guitare:
