VALLENFYRE (Death Old School avec influences doom - UK), le "supergroupe" fondé par Gregor Mackintosh (Paradise Lost) et dans lequel on retrouve Adrian Erlandsson (At the Gates, The Haunted, Paradise Lost) et Hamish Hamilton Glencross (My Dying Bride, ex-Solstice), vient d'entrer en studio pour enregistrer son 2ème album, en compagnie de Kurt Ballou.
Le successeur de A Fragile King (2011) s'intitule "Splinters" et devrait sortir en mai prochain via Century Media.

VALLENFYRE, the U.K. death metal band featuring Gregor Mackintosh, songwriter and guitarist of PARADISE LOST, alongside Hamish Glencross, formerly of MY DYING BRIDE, has returned to GodCity studio in Salem, Massachusetts to record the follow-up to their second album, "Splinters" (2014). The new disc, titled "Fear Those Who Fear Him", sees the band recording as a three-piece for the first time.
Joining Mackintosh (vocals and guitar) and Glencross (guitar and bass) on the new record is Waltteri Väyrynen (drums), with production duties once again being helmed by Kurt Ballou (CONVERGE, NAILS).
Mackintosh comments: "12 songs. No samples. No triggers. No bullshit. Instead you get crucifyingly loud amps, ferocious drumming, and vicious vocals spitting out hate and venom. Raw honest brutality. No conformity. No compromise. A murderous nightmare vomiting poisonous bile onto a twisted world. Yeah, that's the bits I like..."

J'ai bien aime le dernier. Super son! Mais j'ai peur de commencer a saturer un peu avec les prods Kurt Ballou, ultra HM-2. Ca tabasse mais les disques qu'il sort commencent a se ressembler un peu trop (Nails, Black Breath, Gatecreeper, Trap Them, All Pigs Must Die...). Enfin, je kiffe bien ces groupe et il fait aussi d'autres trucs qui n'ont rien a voir (Torche, High on Fire...) mais bon j'ai peur qu'il devienne le Andy Sneap des annees 2010.
Pas mal ta comparaison ! Perso je ne me suis pas encore lassé mais tu n'as pas tort au fond.
Pour en revenir à Vallenfyre j'avais vraiment bien aimé leur deuxième album donc j'ai quand-même bien hâte d'écouter ça
Je l'ai ecoute vite fait hier et il est vraiment pas mal, dans la lignee du precedent finalement. Ca oscille entre passages crust/grind, des morceaux death/doom bien lourds avec quelques melodies assez Paradise Lost-iennes a la guitare, des gros riffs monolithiques a la Celtic Frost...
Certes, ce projet a sa formule mais quand c'est bien fait, je suis preneur!
Ecouté hier. J'avais aimé les autres albums mais je suis toujours dubitatif de ces morceaux plus lents, ça doit être mes goûts qui changent car dans l'exécution c'est très bon !
Apparemment il se peut qu'ils arretent apres cet album. Enfin, c'est ce que laisse sous-entendre Gregor Mackintosh dans cette interview:
Would it be rude if I would suggest that your heart is kind of with Vallenfyre, but your common sense is with Paradise Lost nowadays?
Greg: Um, Vallenfyre is like my Saturday night out. Yeah, I have fun with it. I can't deny that, but I can't say that I take it too seriously. Again, like with Paradise Lost, the music is quite serious, but it's like, you know, having a few drinks and going down to the pub with your mates type of thing. But I wouldn't say the heart, no. Because I don't intend… You know… We're 90 per cent sure now that we'll never record anything else with Vallenfyre. So we'll leave it as a trilogy. So if that's where the heart was I left it behind me.

It's the end of the road for death metal band Vallenfyre. Mastermind, guitarist/vocalist Gregor Mackintosh has released a statement revealing that the band is breaking up at the end of this year after releasing three albums, A Fragile King, Splinters and Fear Those Who Fear Him.
Gregor Mackintosh explained: "Some of you may already be aware but we are calling an end to Vallenfyre this year. The reason being that we want to leave it on a high for us. We have 3 albums we are proud of and we have played some great shows and met many wonderful people. Vallenfyre was also about the death of my Father and I want to keep that in tact.
"Myself and Chris will be starting a new project called Strigoi which will carry on where Vallenfyre has left off so look out for that soon. We would like to thank everybody who has helped or supported us in any way and let you know we have 3 more shows that we are playing. With Full Force festival on June 16th, Wacken festival on August 2nd, and today we would like to announce our final live show. See the poster for details. Supports will be added soon."
