Je viens d'écouter des extraits de leur dernier album Dark Ages sur le site du groupe, et je suis vraiment étonné, on dirait la suite de Chaos AD parfois
Bon, il y a encore des trucs qui sonnent comme Roots et Soulfly que j'aime déjà moins, mais aussi des morceaux plus metal et très différents de ça (avec encore un peu d'expérimentation), même le chant ressemble plus à Sepultura qu'à Soulfly j'ai l'impression.
Le deuxième guitariste a aussi des idées pas mal de temps en temps, enfin, pour du Soulfly... et dire que c'était lui le mec au sac à dos dans Il Nino

il est énorme cet album, déjà le précédent (prophecy) était excellent, mais là whoua la méga baffe !! L'arrivée de Marc Rizzo à foutu un coup de fouet à Max !!!

Ouaip, je l'ai écouté aussi...
C'est déjà plus metal et plus varié que du Soulfly habituel c'est clair, et y'a même des bons riffs, genre Frontlines (pas trop non plus, faut pas trop en demander hein..)
Mais de même que je suis pas fan de Chaos AD, je le suis encore moins de ça

Ah ben je préfère nettement la pochette de l'édition normale. J'espère qu'on la trouvera à l'intérieur de l'édition spéciale (le livret par exemple). J'ai bien aimé Dark Ages, et j'espère que ce prochain opus me plaira tout autant

7ème album de Max Cavelera et compagnie pour le mois de mai, avec ses fils qui jouent sur les bonus (reprises de Led Zeppelin, Sepultura et Excel, vieux groupe de thrash crossover) :

SOULFLY has completed work on its seventh album, "Omen", for a May 4 release via Roadrunner Records. The CD was recorded at Edge Of The Earth studios in Hollywood, California with co-producer Logan Mader (MACHINE HEAD, DIVINE HERESY, CAVALERA CONSPIRACY, GOJIRA, DEVILDRIVER) and it features guest appearances by THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN frontman Greg Puciato and PRONG mainman Tommy Victor.

Of the collaborations, guitarist/vocalist Max Cavalera says, "The first one is a song with Tommy Victor from PRONG sharing vocals on a song called 'Lethal Injection'. The other is 'Rise of the Fallen', with shared vocals from Greg Puciato, THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN's singer. I also recorded two B-sides with both of my sons playing drums. Igor Cavalera plays on EXCEL's 'Your Life, My Life', and Zyon Cavalera plays on SEPULTURA's 'Refuse/Resist' cover."

Non c'est vrai que là, en plus d'avoir la même tenue au poil près qu'au Hellfest de cette année (je le soupçonne de ne pas la retirer), côté poils et tentacules sur le crane c'est carrément du clodo de compète pour le coup.

Le bassiste se barre:

* Bobby Burns, bassiste de SOULFLY a annoncé qu'il ne faisait plus partie du groupe, mettant ainsi fin aux sept années de stabilité du line-up. Il devrait vraisemblablement se consacrer à d'autres projets déjà engagés. Il sera remplacé dans l'immédiat par Johnny Chow (photo en-dessous), membre de FIREBALL MINISTRY qui avait déjà tenu la basse en tournée pour CAVALERA CONSPIRACY.

8ème album pour Max "Clochard Style" Cavalera.

Avec quelques invités dont un violoniste et ses propres fils.

SOULFLY has set "Enslaved" as the title of its eighth album, due on March 13, 2012 via Roadrunner Records. The CD was recorded at Tallcat Studios in Phoenix, Arizona and was produced by Chris "Zeuss" Harris, the seasoned knob twiddler behind some of the most notable bands in metal today, such as SHADOWS FALL, HATEBREED, THE RED CHORD and more. SOULFLY vocalist/guitarist Max Cavalera also shared production duties.

SOULFLY's current lineup features Max and guitar dynamo Marc Rizzo, with STATIC-X's Tony Campos taking up the bass. The lineup is rounded out by drummer David Kinkade (BORKNAGAR, ARSIS, MALEVOLENT CREATION), a new-school, extreme skinsman whose brutality behind the kit brings a new flavor to the band.

While many groups barely make it to a third album, SOULFLY is still going strong two decades deep. 2012 also marks the band's 15th anniversary of making a tribally-influenced metallic racket and what better way to celebrate than with a new record? The album will be released via longtime label Roadrunner, which has been SOULFLY's home for the course of its career. The label has also been Cavalera's home for the duration of his career, which began in the '80s as a member of SEPULTURA, who essentially rewrote the rules of heavy music when they arrived on the scene; Max continues to do the same today.

As is customary with SOULFLY, the band will introduce some new and unexpected elements into the mix, including a guest violinist. SOULFLY also collaborates with two metal veterans: Dez Fafara of DEVILDRIVER and Travis Ryan of CATTLE DECAPITATION. With Dez and Max sharing a longtime connection through the Roadrunner family, it was only a matter of time before Fafara guested on a SOULFLY album.

Cavalera wrote a song, "Revengeance", about his slain stepson Dana Wells, whose death was the catalyst for the creation of SOULFLY. He partners with his sons Igor and Richie on vocals, while his other son Zyon plays drums. It is the first time Max has performed with three of his sons.

The band tracked 14 songs, 11 of which will be on the record, with the other three being made available for the special edition.

Travis Ryan — who was a replacement for SOULFLY's original choice, OCEANO's Adam Warren — recorded his portion of the vocals at Frick'in Studios in San Marcos, California with engineer Dan Frick.

Commented Ryan: "It's an honor to receive a call from someone you had pictures of on your wall as a kid asking you to be on a new album of theirs. I literally had a picture of Max [Cavalera, SOULFLY mainman] and Gloria [Max's wife and manager] holding [Gloria's son] Richie in her arms that I ripped out of a copy of Metal Maniacs on my wall when I was 15 or 16. Now they're asking for my artistic hand in one of their creations; [it] just doesn't get much more surreal than that. Very honored and the song is very 'death metal-ish' and completely crushes. Happy to be a part of it!"

Zeuss stated about Travis' contribution, "The vocals fucking rule!!!! Fits the song perfect… Very refreshing for me to hear these days."
