Mickie Jones, original bassist and founding member of the '70s rock band ANGEL, passed away yesterday (Saturday, September 5) in San Dimas, California after a long battle with liver cancer. His family said he died "peacefully and beautifully."

Frank DiMino (ex-Angel) : Old Habits Die Hard

Frontiers Music Srl will release the comeback album from former ANGEL singer Frank DiMino, titled "Old Habits Die Hard", on July 3 in Europe and July 10 in North America.

An EPK (Electronic Press Kit) for the CD is available below.

While Frank is undoubtedly DIMINO's mastermind, "Old Habits Die Hard" sees him collaborate with some heavyweights of the Las Vegas music scene, where he currently resides. Under the production of Paul Crook (MEAT LOAF, ANTHRAX), the album sees the participation — among others — of Oz Fox (STRYPER), Eddie Ojeda (TWISTED SISTER), Rickey Medlocke (BLACKFOOT, LYNYRD SKYNYRD), Pat Thrall (HUGHES/THRALL), Jeff Duncan (ARMORED SAINT), Jeff Labansky, former ANGEL bandmates Punky Meadows (on guitar) and Barry Brandt (who co-wrote with Frank the song "Even Now") and many others.

Frank says: "It all started because of the relationships between Ken Ciancimino, Paul Crook, myself and the musicians that appeared on the album. I started writing songs with Oz Fox and Jeff Labansky and then Paul suggested we use John Miceli (drums) and Danny Miranda (bass) as our rhythm section and Justin Avery for keys and background vocals because of his relationship from playing with them for MEAT LOAF. When the recording started, our friends wanted to be part of it and one after the other Pat Thrall, Punky Meadows, Eddie Ojeda, Rickey Medlocke and Jeff Duncan provided their amazing musicianship to the album. I feel truly honored to have had all these great musicians be a part of this project!"

Frank DiMino was the frontman for ANGEL in the second half of the '70s. The band was discovered by KISS bass player Gene Simmons who got them signed to Casablanca Records, where they released five critically acclaimed studio albums and a live LP. After the band's demise, DiMino went on to collaborate with UFO's Paul Raymond and worked as a singer on soundtracks, scoring a platinum album for the inclusion of his song "Seduce Me Tonight" with CYCLE V on the "Flashdance" soundtrack.

"Old Habits Die Hard" is going to take many by surprise, as it is definitely not a nostalgia fest, but really a rather compelling and inspired hard rock release. Frank says: "I'm excited to reach new fans as well as many ANGEL fans. There is certainly a connection between then and now, and that is still about making a great record with great musicians!"

"Old Habits Die Hard" track listing:

01. Never Again
02. Rockin' In The City
03. I Can't Stop Loving You
04. The Rain's About To Fall
05. Even Now
06. Tears Will Fall
07. Mad As Hell
08. Sweet Sensation
09. Tonight's The Night
10. The Quest
11. Stones By The River

The video for "Rockin' In The City" can be seen below.

DIMINO recording lineup:

* Frank DiMino: Lead Vocals
* Oz Fox, Paul Crook, Jeff Labansky, Pat Thrall, Punky Meadows, Jeff Duncan, Eddie Ojeda, Dylan DiMino, Rickey Medlocke: Guitars
* Justin Avery: Organ, Background Vocals
* Danny Miranda, Paul Crook: Bass
* John Miceli: Drums

Petite réunion de famille pour un single :
Seminal guitarist Punky Meadows (ex-ANGEL) will release a new single, "Lost And Lonely", on September 18. The track features three members of ANGEL — Meadows, vocalist Frank DiMino, and bassist Felix Robinson — as well as Punky's bandmembers Danny Farrow, Charlie Calv and Bob Pantella, who all performed on the song.

A video for "Lost And Lonely" was filmed at The Chance theater in Poughkeepsie, New York. The clip, which can be seen below, marks the first time since 1980 that three members of ANGEL appear together in a music video.

The video was shot by Jeffery Moore, who co-directed with Danny Farrow.

"Man, we had such a great time shooting our latest video with Frank, Felix and the guys," says Punky.

"Danny and I talked about doing this video for a while. We thought it would be something special for not only the fans of my band, but for the many ANGEL fans as well. Frank really delivered on this track, and the whole band kicked ass!!!"

An autographed limited special edition of Meadows's "Fallen Angel" full CD with the Frank DiMino version of "Lost And Lonely" can be ordered at www.mainmanrecords.com.

In other news, Punky and his band just signed with The Artery Foundation artist management, and will be working on many new exciting things together, including a slew of shows for 2018.

Punky and his band will be playing a special show November 10 at the Debonair Music Hall (Mexicali Live) in Teaneck, New Jersey.

Former members of ANGEL appeared at the Vegas Rocks! Hair Metal Awards in May 2016 at the at the Eastside Cannery Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The group received the "Glam Rock Legends" award in honor of their contributions and influence in music. Accepting the award were Meadows, DiMino, Gregg Giuffria, Barry Brandt, and Robinson. This marked the first time all surviving ANGEL bandmembers — bassist Mickie Jones passed away from cancer in 2009 — had been on stage together since 1980.

Formed in 1975 by Meadows and Jones in Washington D.C., ANGEL straddled the fence between the prog-rock pomp of YES and ELP, the orchestral hard pop of QUEEN, BOSTON and ELO, and the riff-heavy raunch-rock of KISS and AEROSMITH. They were discovered by KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons while performing at a nightclub and were eventually signed to the same label as KISS, Casablanca.

Released in the fall of 1975, the band's self-titled debut was promoted with a number of live appearances on the great American arena circuit with the likes of AEROSMITH, BLUE ÖYSTER CULT, JOURNEY and RUSH. The group's gimmick — the members were all dressed in white — got them labeled the "anti-KISS" by rock critics, and their spectacular stage show was so over the top that even Simmons & Co. were said to have been inspired by it.

ANGEL started to fall apart in the early 1980s after Casablanca pulled the plug on the group due in part to disappointing album sales. In 1981, Robinson and DiMino left to pursue other projects. Meadows and Giuffria tried to keep ANGEL going and came close to landing a record deal with CBS. But it didn't pan out, and ANGEL finally disbanded.

Suite à cela le groupe se reforme pour de bon, avec les 2 précités :
After performing a number of shows together throughout 2018 for the first time in over 35 years, Punky Meadows and Frank DiMino from the legendary '70s rock band ANGEL have decided to resurrect the group under the banner ANGEL FEATURING PUNKY MEADOWS AND FRANK DIMINO. Joining them in the revamped ANGEL will be the four musicians that backed the duo on tour last year: Danny Farrow on rhythm guitar, Charlie Calv on keyboards, Steve Ojane on bass and Billy Orrico on drums.

DiMino broke the news of ANGEL's reactivation in a Facebook post earlier today. He wrote: "Having our own solo projects and performing on each other’s records led to a natural progression to assemble the side project, PUNKY MEADOWS & FRANK DIMINO OF ANGEL. This led to a very successful 2018 tour. The great chemistry we experienced has led us to our next journey of writing and performing together and to enter the New Year as ANGEL FEATURING PUNKY MEADOWS AND FRANK DIMINO.

"The band consisting of Punky, Frank, Danny, Charlie, Billy and Steve will return wearing white and performing a full ANGEL set.

"We will be recording a brand new album and begin touring April 2019. We are very excited to announce that STARZ will be joining us for many shows!!!

"Looking forward to rocking with all of you in 2019!"

:innocent:
