MORBID SAINT announce 'Spectrum Of Death'
reissue via Century Media Records!

A masterpiece of raw and rabid, deadly thrashing madness is going to return as stunning reissue in March 2016 via Century Media Records: MORBID SAINT's Spectrum of Death! Originally recorded in the late 80's and produced by Eric Greif (Acrophet, Num Skull, Viogression), the 1990 released album by the Wisconsin thrashers offers a vicious and intense mix of early Slayer, Kreator, Dark Angel, and Destruction that has not lost any of its violent impact.

MORBID SAINT originally formed on November 1st, 1984, shared stages with the likes of Death, Dark Angel, Acrophet, and many more. After a never fully realized second album, the band performed its final show in 1993 and disbanded. MORBID SAINT reformed in 2010 and the band has been ravaging stages worldwide since then.

For this release, founding member Jay Visser (guitar) dug deep into his personal archive and excavated tons of rare photos, flyers as well as audio material hardly anyone has ever heard before!

After a series of low-key reissues and shabby bootlegs, Spectrum of Death will now be released on vinyl replicating the original sleeve design with an extensive LP-sized booklet telling you the full history of the band and including rare visual material as well as double CD and digital. The latter two will be released under the title Spectrum of Death (Extended Edition) and contain everything, MORBID SAINT have recorded so far including the rough mix of the unreleased, often bootlegged second album, Destruction System, various tracks recorded in 2010 and 2012 plus a previously unreleased early 90's demo, of which only 50 copies were ever made.

Jay Visser explains the history behind this long lost obscurity:
"The unreleased demo never even had a proper title we just called it "the black tape", kind of ripping off Metallica's famous album. It was recorded shortly after we had done "Destruction System" in the studio back in 1992. As some of you might know, "Destruction System" only existed as a quick rough mix, which we got from the studio to listen to as a basis to think over doing possible adjustments or redo any tracks that we didn't like before finishing the mix. At that point, we were over budget with about $500 USD and didn't have the money to finish the album. So we recorded the demo on a four-track recorder in my basement, and sold about 35-40 copies to cover some of the money we owed the studio. By the time we had enough cash to return and finish the album, the studio was already out of business, and all assets were seized by the bank resulting in all the track tapes being lost (including the master/track tapes for "Spectrum of Death"). For Century Media's reissue, we digitalized also a copy of this particular demo, and it was fantastically restored especially for this release! Enjoy!"

Whereas the Spectrum of Death album was specially mastered for vinyl, and hardly touched to preserve its original sound, all other tracks have been carefully restored and remastered by Patrick W. Engel / Temple Of Disharmony (Iced Earth, Grave, Morgoth, Massacra) to ensure a most pleasant, violent listening experience!

King Diamond will release a deluxe edition of "The Spider's Lullabye" on November 27, 2015. This new version was re-mastered by Andy LaRocque and includes a four track bonus CD with previously unreleased demos, on which LaRocque performed the solos and King Diamond himself was responsible for everything else.

In addition to the CD, double translucent red vinyl, including a 23"x33" poster, is available as a limited European import.

On November 20, three decades after its October 30, 1985 debut, Universal will release a special 30th anniversary edition of ANTHRAX's classic "Spreading The Disease", the band's second studio album and the one that served as the then-budding thrash band's breakthrough, and still considered one of the best thrash-metal records ever recorded.

"We wanted to do something special for our fans to celebrate the anniversary of 'Spreading The Disease'," said ANTHRAX's Charlie Benante. "We took the idea to Universal a couple of years ago and have been very hands-on with them, creating this special, deluxe edition that we think our fans will really like."

From the beginning, Benante has kept one of everything the band did — artwork, t-shirts, posters, and when the band was recording, he had the engineer run off a few tapes of the project's basic tracks, alternate takes and alternate mixes, just to stockpile until the time came that they would be needed. Consequently, in addition to the original album's nine tracks, the two-disc anniversary edition features previously unreleased bonus material including Joey Belladonna's 1984 demo recording of the song "Medusa", nine "rhythm tracks" from ANTHRAX recordings also done in 1984 — no vocals, no overdubs or "sweetening," just drums, some guitar, a bit of bass, showing the songs in their naked, most basic form — and eight live songs from ANTHRAX's 1987, first-ever concert in Japan, held at Tokyo's Sun Plaza. "'Spreading The Disease' was our first real record on a major label," said Benante. "We were on a roll with that album, and we wanted to perform those songs as close to the album versions as possible. I think the performances show the excitement of a young band that was on its way, so we wanted to have them on this reissue."

Produced by ANTHRAX with Carl Canedy, the 44-minute "Spreading The Disease" marked the first ANTHRAX album to feature singer Belladonna and bassist Frank Bello (joining drummer Benante and guitarists Dan Spitz and Scott Ian), and set into motion the core elements that would become the essence of ANTHRAX. In addition, the album also introduced the ANTHRAX writing partnership of Benante and Ian (that eventually evolved into Benante, Ian and Bello).

For Bello, "Spreading The Disease" was his full-on album recording baptism. Only 18 at the time, he hadn't yet fully realized his own style of playing, but over the course of the sessions, he developed it. "You can hear all of my influences on every song, Steve Harris, Geddy Lee, Geezer Butler, all of them." Bello remembers that "Spreading The Disease" didn't quite come of age until later on, but it was definitely "simmering." "What we were doing was so fresh, so different - we had heavy songs with these great, melodic vocals — and eventually, people caught on and loved what we were doing. I think every song on 'Spreading The Disease' still stands up today."

"Spreading The Disease" represented a turning point in rock. It came during a time when the landscape was transitioning from the "hair band scene" to a new composite of metal, punk and hardcore — thrash metal. The album was compelling and utterly fresh to the 1985 music fan with its speedy rhythms, savage riffs, blistering solos, punishing drum work and a killer melodic performance by Belladonna. Unlike the thrash bands sprouting up on the west coast that focused on speed, ANTHRAX's focus was on catchiness, hooks, and a hot and sweaty, New York mosh sensibility. And it wasn't just the music that was morphing, it was a whole new culture that was being birthed. And ANTHRAX, along with METALLICA, SLAYER and MEGADETH, was right at its nucleus.

"Spreading The Disease" contains several ANTHRAX standouts: "A.I.R.", with its great riffs and abundance of melody, "Madhouse", a testament to the band's top-notch song-writing skills that showcased their grasp of melody, and "Armed And Dangerous", a soulful ballad with its singalong chorus and spine-tingling performance by Belladonna. "Aftershock" is probably the album's punkiest song with its blistering guitar solo, and the closer, "Gung-Ho", with its out-and-out speed-kills blitzkrieg, is a superb piece of thrash metal.

"We didn't know what we were doing, but we totally knew what we were doing," said Ian. "I know that doesn't make sense, but it's where we were at, a bunch of 21 year-old kids making our major label debut on a shoestring budget with nothing but a dream and a bunch of songs that we thought killed. We were right and our dream came true. Thank you to all the fans that put this record and ANTHRAX on the map way back when and still support us today. Cheers my friends!"

Hollywood Vampires is the third album by L.A. Guns. Released in 1991, the meticulous production gives the album a sound typical of the period a full sound, with lots of background harmony vocals, layered guitars and additional keyboard tracks. The album starts in a more somber note with "Over the Edge", which was used in the film Point Break, but the bulk of it consists of standard hard rockers, such as "Kiss My Love Goodbye" and "My Koo Ka Choo". The band aims for the ballad hit several times, in "Crystal Eyes", "It's Over Now" and the 1950s-style "I Found You", attempting to repeat the earlier success of their major single "The Ballad of Jayne". While no track from the album topped the charts Hollywood Vampires presents various shades of the band and is representative of the late 1980s/early 1990s heavy metal scene, with riff-laden songs and big choruses on every song. This first ever reissue is remastered and features 5 live bonus tracks (2 for the first time on CD)
Track listing:

1. Over The Edge
2. Some Lie 4 Love
3. Kiss My Love Goodbye
4. Here It Comes
5. Crystal Eyes
6. Wild Obsession
7. Dirt Luv
8. My Koo Ka Choo
9. It's Over Now
10. Snake Eyes Boogie
11. I Found You
12. Big House
13. Over The Edge (Live) [Bonus Track]
14. Dirty Luv (Live) [Bonus Track]
15. My Koo Ka Choo (Live) [Bonus Track]
16. Kiss My Love Goodbye (Live) [Bonus Track]
17. Some Lie 4 Love (Live) [Bonus Track]

Saxon sort un coffret LP 1991-2009 :
Here is something for vinyl aficionados. Demon Records has announced the release of an extraordinary Saxon box set containing vinyl LPs of the band's nine studio albums recorded between 1991 and 2009. Eagles And Dragons will be released on March 18th.

Eagles And Dragons features nine seminal NWOBHM albums which before today, were only released on vinyl in some regions including Germany, Italy and the U.K., and in very limited amounts. These new luxury 180-gram vinyl versions, including inner sleeves with all the lyrics, are a must-have for fans and collectors. The hand-numbered outer slipcase box features a specially commissioned, beautiful brand new cover painting by Saxon's artist-in-residence, Paul Gregory. In addition, 500 copies with a framable print of the cover signed by Saxon frontman Biff Byford will be available exclusively from Demon's D2C store.

Byford commented: "From 1991's Solid Ball Of Rock to 2009's Into The Labyrinth, this is the first time we have ever had a vinyl box set of nine albums in one package — never to be done again — with exclusive cover artwork from Paul Raymond Gregory. I can't wait to get my hands on one!"

Image
‘Revolution DNA’, the fifth full-length in the 25-year career of Greek metal luminaries SEPTICFLESH, is finally about to be reissued on Season of Mist just like its four predecessors. Originally released in 1999, ‘Revolution DNA’ occupies a unique space in the band's history. Embracing melodic and atmospheric influences that got it filed in the gothic metal movement, the album ranks amongst SEPTICFLESH’s most avant-garde works to date. The heightened atmospherics, synthesized orchestration, and mesmerising clear vocals of Sotiris Vayenas affirmed the bold and adventurous creative direction the band had begun to follow with 1998's 'A Fallen Temple'. Adorned with brand new artwork and bonus tracks that were not included on the original edition, ‘Revolution DNA’ is also available on vinyl for the very first time.

"Rhino will remember the work of the late Ronnie James Dio next month, with the release of a brand new box set, A Decade of Dio 1983-1993.
This collection brings together all those six studio albums, each featuring newly remastered sound. They are: Holy Diver (1983), The Last In Line (1984), Sacred Heart (1985), Dream Evil (1987), Lock Up The Wolves (1990) and Strange Highways (1993)

A Decade of Dio also features artwork by Marc Sasso, who was responsible for many of the band’s iconic covers, and is released on 29 July 2016."
