Je reconnais tout de suite l'artiste qui a fait la pochette, c'est le même que celui qui fait les pochettes de Tygers of Pan Tang et Praying Mantis (depuis au moins 30 ans d'ailleurs), son nom m'échappe pour le moment.

oui Rodney Matthews. Il a un style très affirmé mais ses dessins sont vraiment magnifiques. Au Ages of Metal il y avait d'ailleurs un ami à lui qui vendait des posters et autres reproductions du bonhomme.

Influential British melodic hard rockers MAGNUM will release their 19th studio album, "Escape From The Shadow Garden", on March 25 (one day earlier internationally) via Steamhammer/SPV. The effort will be made available as a limited digipak edition with bonus material, as a double colored vinyl LP, standard jewel case CD and download. The cover artwork was once again created by famous fantasy artist Rodney Matthews (ASIA, NAZARETH, ELOY).

Je me suis acheté l'album et pas de regrets, je le trouve bien sympa. J'ai un petit faible pour Princess In Rags qui est carrément groovie!

Et du coup toujours pas de conseils pour approfondir ma connaissance du groupe?

Le groupe anglais sort un album de ballades, remixées ou réenregistrées.

Renowned not only for their powerful rock songs but also for countless moving ballads, British rock icons MAGNUM are set to surprise their fans with a very special release at the very beginning of the coming year. Due on January 6, 2017 (U.S. and Canada on January 20, 2017), "The Valley Of Tears - The Ballads" is an album featuring ten of the band's most accomplished ballads, all of them remastered and in parts even newly re-recorded and remixed.

Guitarist, composer and producer Tony Clarkin states: "The release of this album was originally inspired by my daughter. A few months ago she asked me, 'MAGNUM have so many beautiful quiet numbers. Why don't you put together a compilation highlighting some of the most powerful tracks?' Olly Hahn of Steamhammer/SPV was immediately taken by the concept, so I set down to work on it."

"The Valley Of Tears - The Ballads" contains material from the band's different creative phases. Along with remastered versions of more recent ballads from albums such as "Into The Valley Of The Moonkings", "The Visitation" and the current studio recording "Sacred Blood - Divine Lies", there will also be a newly re-recorded acoustic version of their classic "Lonely Night" and a new haunting live version of their hit "When The World Comes Down" from their 1986 cult recording "Vigilante".

The release will be supported by selected shows in the U.K. and Ireland during the run-up to Christmas and a German/Swiss tour where Tony Clarkin and Bob Catley join the "Rock Meets Classic" tour from March 30, 2017. Some more festivals for summer 2017 will be announced shortly.

"The Valley Of Tears - The Ballads" will be released as a digipak version, download and stream through SPV/Steamhammer.

Leur claviériste présent depuis 1980 s'en va.

Keyboardist Mark Stanway has quit British rock icons MAGNUM after a 36-year stint with the band.

Stanway, who joined MAGNUM in 1980 prior to the recording of the group's third album, 1982's "Chase The Dragon", said in a statement: "Due to irrevocable circumstances, I am deeply saddened to announce that I have made one of the most difficult decisions in my life — I have officially left MAGNUM.

"I apologize to anyone who was maybe hoping to see me personally over the next few days, but sadly I will not be there. However, I should like it known, that, I am and will remain extremely proud to have been a small part of it all for the past 36 years or so and wish the band and organization all the best for the future.

"I will, of course, firmly remain in music and hope to see many of you a little further down the road."

The remaining members of MAGNUM have not yet commented on Stanway's departure, but bassist Al Barrow assured fans in an online post that the last three dates of the band's current tour — in Dublin, Wolverhampton and Edinburgh — will go ahead as planned.

Nouvel album en janvier, leur 20ème!

British hard rock band MAGNUM will release its new album, "Lost On The Road To Eternity", on January 19, 2018 via Steamhammer/SPV. It will be the twentieth studio recording by the group led by founding members Bob Catley (vocals) and Tony Clarkin (guitar) since its 1978 debut, "Kingdom Of Madness". At the same time, Clarkin, Catley and bassist Al Barrow are set to introduce their current lineup, featuring new additions Rick Benton (keyboards) and Lee Morris (ex-PARADISE LOST; drums). Benton joined the MAGNUM camp in December 2016 to replace longstanding member Mark Stanway, while Morris took over from Harry James only a few months ago.

"Lost On The Road To Eternity" contains eleven new songs, among them the first single "Without Love" and a duet by Catley and Tobias Sammet on the title track, a kind of artistic thank you by the EDGUY and AVANTASIA frontman in appreciation of Catley's guest stint on a number of Sammet's releases.

The release will once again be complemented by Rodney Matthews's atmospheric cover artwork as well as a total of four live bonus tracks on the CD digipak version ("Sacred Blood - Divine Lies", "Crazy Old Mothers", "Your Dreams Won't Die" and "Twelve Men Wise And Just") recorded at MAGNUM's 2017 performance at the Leyendas Del Rock festival in Alicante, Spain.

"Lost On The Road To Eternity" will be made available as a digipak version including a bonus live disc, 2LP colored version, download and stream.

Je suis en train d'écouter l'album. Je le trouve magnifique ! Entre la voix de Bob Catley, cette ambiance un peu féérique et ces claviers qui sonnent "old-school"... J'adore !

C'est pas mal du tout, mais je trouve le son bien trop étouffé, plat, dommage car il y a un beau potentiel. Si ils voulaient que ça sonne années 80 jusque dans le mixage, ils ont visiblement poussé le curseur trop loin. Achille ça sonne pareil sur album ?
