Un tres bon disque de heavy avec un chanteur énorme. Plus direct que les 3 précédents albums, mais j'aime beaucoup ce disque. Un groupe à écouter d'urgence !
Le groupe s'est récemment séparé de 2 musiciens présents dans le groupe depuis plus de 10 ans.
D'abord le guitariste soliste Martin Arendal (Wuthering Heights), membre du groupe depuis 2001, parti pour raisons personnelles. Son remplaçant est déjà connu, il s'agit de Stefan Johansson.
Par ailleurs, le bassiste Kasper Gram a également quitté le groupe, pour s'engager vers d'autres horizons musicaux. Son remplaçant serait déjà trouvé et bientôt annoncé.

MANTICORA and founding member - drummer Mads Volf, have decided to part ways, after 2 decades of musical endeavours. The departing of Volf is a decision, that has been long under way, but the split up is happening in orderly fashion, and Mads and the rest of the band are still the best of friends.
Mads decided, he simply didn't have the spirit to carry on anymore, with a business that seems to appear as an uphill battle for the majority of bands today. Moreover, he has been playing in the Danish Party/metal band Red Warszawa for the last 2 years, and this has evolved to being his focus, musically.

Le groupe va à nouveau sortir un double album conceptuel, en 2 temps.
Danish thrash/power metallers MANTICORA have inked a deal with ViciSolum Records for the release of their upcoming eighth and ninth albums — the first material from the band in almost eight years.
The two albums, which are a part of a grandiose concept based on the thriller/horror novel that lead singer Lars F. Larsen has written, will be released as two separate albums one year apart. The novel itself is scheduled for an April 2018 release, followed by the first album during the summer 2018. Futhermore, the plan is to release the album in small droplets — one song at the time.
Guitarist Kristian Larsen comments: "It's really cool to sign with a label who's actually doing something for the bands they are signing, be it promotion, advertisement and/or active hard work. We'll be labelmates with our good friends from PERSEFONE and LOCH VOSTOK. What else does a metal musician need?"
The music will be recorded and mixed at Hansen Studios with producer Jacob Hansen (VOLBEAT, DESTRUCTION) who also helmed the first two MANTICORA albums back in the last millenium, and vocals will be recorded with Tommy Hansen at Jailhouse studios (HELLOWEEN, BEYOND TWILIGHT, JORN). Tommy previously produced five albums for the band.
MANTICORA has written more than 20 tracks for the upcoming releases, which sees a return to the concept-album style that the band pursued on four previous albums. The concept is based on the band's original novel "To Kill To Live To Kill", which is a horror/thriller story but with a twist of extreme lunacy and horrid scenes of violence. Think "Saw" meets "American Psycho".
MANTICORA has released seven critically acclaimed albums since 1999 and toured numerous times around Europe as well as in the U.S. and played at prestigious festivals, such as Wacken Open Air, Sweden Rock Festival and ProgPower USA.

Danish thrash/power metallers MANTICORA will release their eighth album, "To Kill To Live To Kill", on August 3 via ViciSolum Records. Another MANTICORA concept double effort, it is based on the thriller/horror novel that lead singer Lars F. Larsen has written.
The novel itself is scheduled for a May 2018 release, while the two concept albums will be released as two separate albums, one year apart.
"To Kill To Live To Kill" cover artwork is a stunning picture, painted by the extremely talented Danish painter David Troest, and it resembles the stories of the novel.
Larsen explains: "We have always tried out new cover artwork artists for each album, so when looking for the perfect person to give justice to the novel and the two albums, we wanted someone who'd be able to grasp the essence of the stories within the book, and when looking at David's pictures in general, it's evident for even the feeble-minded that he's that exact guy. He also lives less than an hour away from us, so it was a win-win situation for everyone to be able to meet up and do corrections on the front cover and all the other pictures that'll appear in the booklet. We're already beginning the work for the second album as well, so we can follow the release schedule of having the albums out 12 months apart."

Le premier "single" n'était pas le meilleur choix, c'est vrai.
Après plusieurs années de désintérêt pour les nouveautés de ce groupe (depuis le 1er Black Circus, en fait), je me repenche sur leur cas, et la semaine dernière fut quasi consacrée à la première moitié de ce concept album. Ca faisait bien trois ans qu'un album de métal ne m'avait pas autant scotché. La 2nde beaucoup moins, par contre. Mais plusieurs écoutes furent nécessaires pour la mieux maîtriser. Du très bon, mais moins passionnant que son frangin.
