Même pas un an après "The Winter wake", les folk metalleux italiens se remettent au travail

Italian folk metallers ELVENKING have posted the following update at their official website:

"After the successful release of The Winter Wake album and after having toured Europe supporting JON OLIVA'S PAIN, the mastermind of the legendary SAVATAGE, Elvenking are ready to enter the studios to start the production of their widely awaited fourth album. In November the band will enter Gernhart studios in Germany to start recording the drums, before returning to Italy and shutting themselves up in the Sherpa studios (where The Winter Wake was recorded) to complete all the rest of the recording. Top producer Nino Laurenne of the Finnish Sonic Pump studios will be in Italy to set some sounds together with the band and supervise the production. The final Mix will be handled once again by Laurenne himself in his homeland, Finland, at Sonic Pump. The final touch will be added by Mika Jussila's mastering at Finnvox."

"We expect to have the album ready sometime in Spring 2007, but we think that an early Autumn release can be expected, because of normal promotion times" says the band.

The cover artwork will be done by Gyula Havancsak, the same artist who took care of the The Winter Wake layout. As for the musical direction of the album it seems that surprises can be expected once again. Singer Damnagoras describes the new music as "...straight, heavy, melodic and still epic". Guitarist Aydan comments: "As usual our new album will be pretty different from all our previous works. It's something vital for us, we cannot copy ourselves, what we have done in the past is still there and we need to look ahead. The new material is simply thrilling us out, we can’t wait to put it on CD!"

The lyrics of the album will be based on a general concept, which has not been revealed yet, but according to the band “it's gonna be the most challenging thing we've ever done lyrically”.

The last live gigs before starting the recordings are:

October 27th at Velvet Rock Club in Gias di Aviano (PN), Italy (with TYSTNADEN)
November 4th at Ragnarock Festival in Perth, Scotland

C'etait tout pourri sur la tournée avec JOP

Enfin non, c'etait banal dans le style, ca faisait beaucoup penser a Rhapsody, et c'etait lassant. Le son etait pas top les deux dates, mais ca donnait pas envie d'ecouter plus en avant sur album

J'ai juste l'album The Winter Wake et honnêtement je ne trouve pas ça terrible terrible.
J'espère que le nouveau sera meilleur.

J'ai pas mal écouté "the winter wake", et j'ai trouvé ça plutôt bon. Un bon groupe de folk metal à mon avis.

Nouvel album prévu pour l'automne avec Mike Wead en guest

Italian folk/power metal band ELVENKING has finished recording its new album and is about to leave for Helsinki, Finland to begin the mixing the effort at Sonic Pump Studios. Due this fall via AFM Records, the CD will feature a guest appearance on two tracks by Swedish guitarist Mike Wead (KING DIAMOND, MERCYFUL FATE, MEMENTO MORI, FIREGOD, ABSTRAKT ALGEBRA, CANDLEMASS).

Commented the band: "It's an honor to have Mike soloing on our songs. It's always amazing having one of your heroes playing in your album. And the leads he played are amazing — pure guitar art!"

ELVENKING released its third album, "The Winter Wake", in Europe in January 2006 via AFM Records. The CD was issued in the U.S. in March. The follow-up to 2004's "Wyrd" was recorded at Sherpa Studios (Italy), mixed at Sonic Pump Studios by Nino Laurenne and was mastered at Finnvox Studios by Mika Jussilla.

). C'est genre les españols "Mago de Oz" ? ou rien à voir !?

J'attend ça avec impatience, "Winter Wake" m'avait beaucoup plu.

ilungara> c'est un peu dans le style oui, et bien entendu ils sont fans de Skyclad (ils reprennent même Penny Dreadful dans le dernier album, leur version démonte sa race!).

J'ai bien aimé "winter wake" le dernier album en date

Du coup, peut être que ce futur album va m'intéresser, car c'est quand même du bon dans le domaine du folkmetal

Je sais pas pour vous mais je trouve qu'il y a trop de groupe de folk metal (souvent mélangé avec du death)

Enfin ce n'est q'une constatation mais pas mals de groupes se ressemblent trop dans ce domaine

A ce compte là il y a aussi trop de groupe de heavy, de thrash, de death, de black....etc etc

Ce sont des styles super variés , perso je vois une énorme différence entre Sodom et Slayer, entre Death et Obituary, entre Mayhem et Bathory ect...

Le folk je ferais même pas la différence entre Finntroll et Eluveitie & co

Edit' : Je voulais appuyer sur les dérivés du thrash, death, black (les sous genre qu'offrent ces styles si tu préfères)

C'est surtout la voix qui accentue la ressemblance. J'ai même vérifié sur le livret des albums s'il ne s'agissait pas du même chanteur car par moments, le timbre et l'intonation sont identiques.

Sinon, je ne possède qu'un album de ces deux groupes: Gaìa II - La Voz Dormida de Mägo de Oz et The Winter Wake d'Elvenking. Le premier est plus heavy et le deuxième plus fougueux, à l'instar d'Ensiferum par exemple.

J'ai une nette préférence pour les Espagnols, qui ont bien plus de personnalité.

Je vois ce que tu veux dire mais c'est sûrement car tu ne connais pas assez ce style (moi non plus d'ailleurs!), quelqu'un qui n'a jamais écouté de thrash de sa vie ne ferait pas la différence entre Sodom et Slayer et bien toi tu ne fais pas la différence entre Finntroll et Eluveitie

C'est Winter Wake que j'ai, justement. Je trouvais la pochette jolie, donc je l'ai acheté

Ca m'a fait parfois penser au dernier Mägo de Oz (Gaìa II: La Voz Dormida, excellent album que je te conseille), notamment au niveau vocal, j'ai même vérifié si ce n'était pas le même chanteur tellement la ressemblance est frappante par moments.
