Faith... No More ?

C'est peut-être pas sûr.

On parlait récemment de la rumeur d'une tournée de festivals européens et des dates en Angleterre pour FAITH NO MORE: une source proche du guitariste "au look plus que cool" Jim Martin, qui officia dans le groupe de 1983 à 1993, a affirmé que le guitariste avait exprimé un grand intérêt à la reformation après avoir été contacté par le claviériste Roddy Bottum et le management de FAITH NO MORE mais finalement le groupe aurait décidé de faire appel à un autre guitariste (Peut être Trey Spruance, Dean Menta ou Jon Hudson, ceux qui ont occupé son poste après 1993). Finalement tout cela semble assez improbable, mais il faut avouer que la communication actuelle à ce sujet pourrait nous faire croire à cette possibilité. On a souvent vu ce genre de reformation se faire à la vitesse de la lumière, une fois tout le monde d'accord.

Ah ça serait puissant... Mais je doute que ça arrive, effectivement.

De toute façon Patton fait plus que hurler depuis un moment, il doit plus savoir vraiment comment on chante, il doit surtout préférer rester avec Zorn

Raahhh quel pied ce serait ! Avec le line up d'origine bien sur ! ( a partir de The Real Thing for me) mais je ne crois pas que ça peut arrriver.Qu'en pense Mike Bordin ? et Patton himself ?

A mon avis Patton il pense pas beaucoup. Il se contente de pisser sur des vigiles

L'année dernière il a sorti un album et apparemment y en a un autre de prévu pour cette année, bref ça fait un bout de temps qu'il bosse en solo (si possible sur 15 projets) donc je sais pas...

Dommage qu'un talent comme Patton se disolve dans tant de projets, tous autant baclés les uns que les autres.
Je me souviens du dernier passage de Faith no more à Paris (Bataclan) où il n'a fait que hurler et dénaturer toutes les chansons.
De toute façon, le vrai boss du groupe est Billy Gould. Si ça se remonte, ce sera à partir de lui. Jim Martin est le vrai guitariste de FNM, et comme il m'étonnerait fort que Patton refasse partie un jour d'un groupe qui s'appellerait à nouveau Faith no more, son retour serait cooooool car son départ était dû à une vraie mésentente avec Patton (alors que c'est Jim qui l'avait fait venir!!!!)

Bâclés bâclés... je trouve qu'il a fait des trucs bien intéressants et diversifiés quand même, son dernier album, A Perfect Place est bien cool, dans le genre musique de film, bon il fait le taré avec Zorn c'est pas forcément écoutable mais il y aussi la chanson de la BO de Body of Lies récemment, un duo avec Serj Tankian qui est vraiment super (et où il chante vraiment

) et puis le projet où y a Norah Jones (méconnaissable)... non il fait encore du bon boulot quand même, même s'il s'éparpille.

FAITH NO MORE confirme sa reformation pour cet été. Des dates sont en cours de booking pour l'Europe uniquement. Aucune information n'a été révélée concernant le line-up du groupe qui assurera cette tournée

FAITH NO MORE bassist Bill Gould has released the following statement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET:

"FAITH NO MORE has always stood out as some sort of unique beast; part dog, part cat — its music almost as schizophrenic as the personalities of its members. When it all worked, it worked really well, even if the chemistry was always volatile.

"Throughout our 17 years of existence, the mental and physical energy required to sustain this creature was considerable and relentless. Though amicable enough, when we finally split, we all followed paths seemingly destined to opposite ends of the universe. Yet during the entire 10 years that have passed since our decision to break up we've experienced constant rumors and requests from fans and promoters alike. Nevertheless, for whatever reason, none of us kept in regular touch, much less to discuss any possibilities of getting together.

"What's changed is that this year, for the first time, we've all decided to sit down together and talk about it. And what we've discovered is that time has afforded us enough distance to look back on our years together through a clearer lens and made us realize that through all the hard work, the music still sounds good, and we are beginning to appreciate the fact that we might have actually done something right. Pareil. Mais que Patton chante, au lieu de faire des borborygmes et hurlements comme dans ses derniers projets... Il tourne regulierement sur Paris avec l'un ou l'autre de ses combos, mais bon... voila quoi...

ARTISTdirect.com editor Rick Florino recently conducted an interview with FAITH NO MORE singer Mike Patton. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.

ARTISTdirect.com: Have you always had this fascination with Italy or did it happen after you'd developed an appreciation for the culture?

Mike Patton: It happened after I got married, my friend [Laughs]. I married an Italian lady, and I had to get acquainted. Basically, it started with the language because her family and her parents didn't really speak English. I had to learn the language, so I did that. The longer you spend in a place like that, it really sucks you in. It really envelopes you and makes you feel like one of them. If you say "Ciao," they go, "Oh my God, that's amazing! That sounds great! You're Italian!" It's not like France, where you say, "Bonjour" and they go, "No, no, no, it's Bonjouuurrr!" [Laughs] I had never been taken in like I was in Italy just by saying a few words. That made me feel like I had to put in the effort and I want to be one of them. Have you ever lived abroad?

ARTISTdirect.com: No, I haven't, but I always wanted to go to Italy because I am Italian.

Mike Patton: Well, there you go! You have the best excuse in the world [Laughs]. C'mon! When you do live abroad, you're basically searching for some kind of peace. You don't want to be the fuckin' foreigner. You want to be a part of everyday life there and you don't want anybody to look at you sideways. So you find ways of blending in, and it's a real challenge. I was able to do it, by learning the language well enough and then also really immersing myself in the musical scene there. Oddly enough, I became attracted to the stuff from the '60s and the '70s, and that's where this record comes from.

ARTISTdirect.com: Italian art has always been boundless, from Da Vinci to Dario Argento. That boundlessness is in line with what you've done your whole career. There's never been a set Italian style; anything goes.

Mike Patton: Oh yeah, I think that could be said for most cultures. To be honest, a lot of the tunes that I chose for [the MONDO CANE] record were, in some way, a very strange mirror for what was going on in the States. It wasn't like Italian folk music from novelty or Sicilian choral music. A lot of it was like a very strange refraction of what was going on in America but it came out in a very Italian style. Somehow, I think they put their fingerprint on popular music at that time.

ARTISTdirect.com: Are you going to bring [MONDO CANE] on the road?

Mike Patton: I'm hoping to! It's a difficult and expensive project to bring to life. I'm working on it now. We're doing a tour in Europe in July. It's so much easier to do in Europe for some reason. Maybe later in the fall, I'll do some shows in the States. There are different orchestras every gig. Basically, you show up! We're playing Poland, and they'll be a Polish orchestra. You rehearse with them one day, and then you play concert. Next day, Russia!

ARTISTdirect.com: Given that FAITH NO MORE is back now, what does the band and its catalog mean to you after all of these years?

Mike Patton: Well, it's strange, you know? To be honest, I never thought that I would ever revisit that stuff again. After some reflection and speaking with the guys, I realized, "Well, wait a minute. I'm not embarrassed about it [Laughs]. It's still good music! Is there a way that we can still pull it off and do it justice?" So we rehearsed! When we rehearsed, I realized this is good and I feel great about it. After that, we decided to do some shows. The interest was also kind of staggering. Basically, there's more interest in us now than when we were an active band, which is really strange, kind of haunting and maybe a bit morbid, but it also inspired us. We thought, "Okay, for some reason people are really interested in this. Maybe we should take it as seriously as they are?" [Laughs] You know what I mean?

ARTISTdirect.com: Coachella is a great platform for you to make your big debut back after the San Francisco shows.

Mike Patton: In terms of festivals in the U.S., I can't think of a better one or a more appropriate one. The San Francisco shows are basically warm-ups for us. We're doing them in our hometown and it'll be like a high-five type of evening.

Cela n'aura pas duré très longtemps, le groupe splittera à nouveau à la fin de la tournée actuelle.

According to MNE, FAITH NO MORE have announced plans to play their final gig in Chile.

The band reformed for a series of UK and European festival dates in 2009 – 11 years after they first split in 1998 – although the line-up did not include guitarist Jim Martin, who left the band in 1993.

However keyboardist Roddy Bottum confirmed the band will play their final gig in Chile before splitting, on his Twitter page. "It's true, we're giving Santiago [Bicentenário de la Florida] what they've asked for. We're wrapping up the FNM reunited tour in Santiago, Chile on December 5!!!!" he tweeted.

Although plans were initially in the pipeline to record a new album, Bottum said the gig will mark the end of the band.

Vraiment une très mauvaise idée! split après une tournée et avoir attendu aussi longtemps...et pas de nouvel album.Mais au final ça ne m'étonne pas de FNM.Imprévisible,taré et hors normes.

Je me trompe peut-être, mais ce n'était pas prévu dès le départ que cette "reformation" ne devait durer que le temps de quelques concerts et que le groupe n'avait pas l'intention de sortir de nouvel album ?

M'avait semblé avoir lu ça quelque part. Du moins, je n'en attendais pas plus.

ah c'est hors norme de se reformer pour une tournée d'adieu? c'est plutôt l'inverse vu la tendance actuelle...
