TMZ.com reports that VAN HALEN has officially hired 15-year-old Wolfgang Van Halen — the son of guitarist Eddie Van Halen and estranged wife Valerie Bertinelli, and nephew of drummer Alex Van Halen — as the new bassist for the band.
Wolfgang replaces longtime bassist Michael Anthony, who left the band earlier this year. VAN HALEN spokesperson Janie Liszewski tells TMZ.com that Wolfgang, known as "Wolfie," has already joined his dad and uncle for rehearsals in the studio. Wolfie played dates with his father during the band's 2004 tour, and the song "316" on 1991's "For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge" was named for Wolfie's birth date that same year.
According to TMZ.com, the band is still without a lead singer, despite rumors that David Lee Roth might rejoin.

De toute façon, Van Halen ils sont venus que 2 fois en Europe depuis le début alors... qu'ils se reforment ou pas...Ils ont qu'a prendre Rocco Siffredi au chant, comme ça il pourra continuer à écrire des musiques de films de boules toutes pourraves...
j'en arrive a me demander : entre nous, le véritable fauteur de trouble dans VAN HALEN toutes périodes confondues,ce ne serait pas véritablement EDDIE et non pas DIAMOND DAVE comme on nous l'a vendu pendant toutes ces années ?
C'est super triste tout ça... Effectivement, le fouteur de merde c'est Eddie, on le sait depuis longtemps. Putain, VH sans Michael Anthony c'est plus pareil. Et quel idée de foutre un mini Eddie boudiné à la basse !
N'empêche, malgré tout ça, s'ils avaient la bonne idée de venir en Europe une dernière, j'irai, peu importe où. J'ai envie de les voir une 2ème et dernière fois avant qu'Eddie nous quitte. C'est triste à dire, mais j'ai l'impression qu'il va pas faire long feu.
Mouais j'aime bien Sammy mais le véritable VH c'est quand même celui des premiers albums avec DLR non ?
Après avec les synthés c'était quand même moins hard...

Et bien non, moi je m'en fout des légendes..Si un album est bon il est bon, j'en ai rien à faire de savoir qui joue dessus.
C'est comme pour motley crue, j'adore vince neil mais le meilleur album qu'ils ont fait en 12 ans reste l'album avec John Corabi.
Et entre nous, il n'y'a pas de synthé sur les 2 derniers albums que j'ai mentionné avec Hagar .... contrairement à 1984 !!!
Non ce n'est pas le nouveau Van Halen, mais cet album sorti en May 1988, en plus de contenir quelques perles comme "mine all mine","Finish What Ya Started" and "When It's Love.", sera 4 * disque de platine et le groupe assurera la tete d'affiche aux Monsters of rock.
Apparemment DLR est sur le point de revenir pour une tournée US, Van Halen font beaucoup de marketing et d'effets d'annonce en ce moment :

Along with a possible POLICE reunion, it would likely be among the year's biggest box-office draws.
"Everything is up in the air," Eddie Van Halen tells Rolling Stone. "We don't want to say anything prematurely." He suggested that the band is waiting on Roth: "People know where we are and that we're making music. Whoever wants to come up can join us — they're welcome." But the famously contentious group may already be having communication problems. The source replies, "Dave is ready. He's been ready."

Pour autant que j'aimerais le faire croire, je ne pense pas. Les frangins VH ont beau être hollandais, Van Halen et l'Europe ça s'est pas souvent fait. Si la reformation tient un peu plus que celle de Van Hagar (ce qui n'est pas gagné vu comment sont Eddie et Roth), peut-être qu'ils viendront faire une paire de festivals en Europe, mais je pense pas que ça arrivera avant la tournée américaine (donc en 2008 si ça tient jusque là).
Je peux me tromper, mais j'y crois pas. En tout cas, ce serait un coup énorme si un festival européen arrivait à les faire venir cette année, et du coup il me ferait venir également
David Lee Roth has officially returned as the singer for VAN HALEN and will join the rest of the band on a North American tour this summer. The 40-date trek will mark the first time since 1984 that original VH frontman Roth will perform with Eddie and Alex Van Halen along with new bassist, Wolfgang Van Halen (Eddie's son). According to a press release issued today (Feb. 2) by Janie Liszewski from High Profile Media, "VAN HALEN fans can look forward to legendary high intensity performances, featuring a setlist of the most iconic hits ever produced by America's premiere rock band."
Eddie Van Halen said in a statement, "I am very excited to get back to the core of what made VAN HALEN."
According to MelodicRock.com, VAN HALEN — featuring David Lee Roth on vocals — will likely play two dates in Las Vegas at The Pearl at The Palms Casino on April 27-28 before kicking off a full North American tour sometime late spring/early summer.
