Dear Sabbath Fans, Fellow Musicians and Interested Parties,

At this time, I would love nothing more than to be able to proceed with the Black Sabbath album and tour. However, I am unable to continue unless a "signable" contract is drawn up; a contract that reflects some dignity and respect toward me as an original member of the band. Last year, I worked diligently in good faith with Tony, Ozzy and Geezer. And on 11/11/11, again in good faith, I participated in the L.A. press conference. Several days ago, after nearly a year of trying to negotiate, another “unsignable” contract was handed to me.

Let me say that although this has put me in some kind of holding pattern, I am packed and ready to leave the U.S. for England. More importantly, I definitely want to play on the album, and I definitely want to tour with Black Sabbath.

Since the news of Tony's illness, and the understanding that the band would move production to the U.K., I've spent everyday getting to or living in a place of readiness to leave. That involves something of a task, and as I've tried to find out what's going on with the U.K. sessions, I've realized that I've been getting "the cold shoulder" (and, I might add, not for the first time). Feeling somewhat ostracized, my guess is as of today, I will know nothing of what'shappening unless I sign "the unsignable contract."


The place I'm in feels lousy and lonely because as much as I want to play and participate, Ialso have to stand for something and not sign on. If I sign as-is, I stand to lose my rights, dignity and respectability as a rock musician. I believe in freedom and freedom of speech. I grew up in a hard rock/metal band. We stood for something then, and we played from the heart with honesty and sincerity. I am in the spirit of integrity, far from the corporate malady, I am real and honest, fair and compassionate.

If I'm replaced, I have to face you, the beloved Sabbath fans. I hope you will not hold me responsible for the failure of an original Black Sabbath lineup as promoted. Without fault finding, I want to assure everyone that my loyalty to Sabbath is intact.

So here I am. I lay my truth down before you. I'm good to go IF I get a “signable” contract. I don't want to let anyone down, especially Black Sabbath and all the Sabbath fans. You know I love you. It would be a sad day in Rock if this current situation fell to the desires of a few.

My position is not greed-driven. I'm not holding out for a "big piece" of the action (money) like some kind of blackmail deal. I’d like something that recognizes and is reflective of my contributions to the band, including the reunions that started fourteen years ago. After the last tour I vowed to never again sign on to an unreasonable contract. I want a contract that shows some respect to me and my family, a contract that will honor all that I've brought to Black Sabbath since its beginning.

waouw, la bonne ambiance chez le SABB'. Déjà que l'an dernier Ozzy Et Tony Iommi ont eu des chamailleries juridiques, ça continue avec les problèmes de fric. Manquait plus que ça, en plus du cancer de Iommi.

Et rebelote comme en 2004, où Bill Ward avait également annoncé qu'il ne participerait pas à une tournée Ozzfest, car on lui proposait moins d'argent qu'aux autres. Sur le fond, c'est sûr que partager les bénéfices en 4 parts égales leur éviterait bien des problèmes d'ego!
Mais j'imagine que $haron O$bourne (voire aussi Iommi? mais là je spécule) n'est pas de cet avis. D'où le problème avec Bill Ward qui se sent insulté et risque de déclarer forfait.

On savait que cette reformation était pour le pognon et pour jouer ensemble une dernière fois, mais cette fois outre le cancer de Iommi les histoires de pognon risquent de faire foirer ce baroud d'honneur avant même qu'il ne commence. Ou alors ça va se terminer avec Vinny Appice en remplacement de Bill Ward au dernier moment...

Tu peux être sure que ça va être ça dans ce cas!

En même temps si Bill ward n'en est pas c'est pas bien grave

Bill Ward si il ne vient pas c'est pas grave perso ( m^me si je respect énormément le grand batteur qu' il fut ), il est à la ramasse total maintenant, un p'tit Vinnie Appice ne me déplairait pas par contre

C'est sûr que l'état de santé de Bill Ward ne lui aurait peut-être pas permis de faire une tournée complète, et il n'a plus son niveau des débuts, mais enregistrer leur album final avec lui serait la moindre des choses dans le cadre d'une "reformation".

Pour les concerts, il n'y a aucun batteur qui puisse le remplacer à 100% au sens de "jouer comme lui", son style est quand même assez unique, et très différent de celui de Vinny Appice. Même si ce dernier a déjà remplacé Bill Ward par le passé, je ne pense pas qu'il soit le meilleur remplacement pour jouer les morceaux de cette époque de Black Sabbath.

C'est quand même désolant que des mecs qui ont dépassé la soixantaine, qui ont bien gagné leur vie, qui n'ont rien à craindre jusqu'à la fin de leurs jours, ne soient pas foutus de partager le gâteau en 4 et basta.

Ah... si le fabuleux Cozy POWELL était encore là...

Ouais ! Rock'n'roll ! Formidable ! Merci les anciens de garder intacts l'insouciance et la simplicité de la jeunesse...

Breaking news:

MetalTalk.net have just been informed by a reliable source that Sharon Osbourne has fired Bill Ward. If this turns out to be true, as fully expected, then it won't go down well with the Metal community.

We'll find out more as soon as possible.

Nan mais attends, je veux bien qu'Ozzy soit une larve mais c'est pas une raison pour laisser une femme prendre les décisions à leur place... non mais oh!

Malheureusement ça fait longtemps qu'Ozzy est dépassé par les évènements et se fait mener à la baguette par Sharon sans qu'il fasse quoi que ce soit.

On peut lire autre chose, mais ça reste à confirmer :

C'est un bon batteur en soi, mais pour un remplacement de Bill Ward non merci.
J'espère que c'est faux, ça commence à sentir le boudin cette reformation.

Sharon Osbourne affime qu'elle n'a pas viré Bill Ward et qu'elle n'en a de toute façon pas le droit car elle "ne gère que les intérêts d'Ozzy".

Mouais, c'est pas comme si elle n'avait aucun pouvoir d'influence non plus.

OZZY OSBOURNE's wife/manager Sharon Osbourne has responded to internet rumors that she "fired" BLACK SABBATH drummer Bill Ward, after he announced last week that he could not participate in the band's recording sessions in Birmingham until a “singable contract is drawn up."

Osbourne wrote on Twitter: "I am not in any position to hire or fire anyone in Black Sabbath. I don't manage the band, I manage my husband."

C'est pas faux, du reste. Viré ou pas, il y a embrouille de contrat, et Sharon Osbourne, si elle en est peut-être l'instigatrice, n'a en tout cas pas été contrariée par les managers de Butler et Iommi. Si ces derniers tenaient tellement à avoir Ward, ils auraient insisté pour que l'affaire soit réglée, et les Osbournes auraient dû s'incliner.

Sinon on en sait plus sur le maintient du Sharonfest cet été ?
