Image
According to CBSSports.com Nashville Predators backup goaltender Chris Mason has unveiled his new mask courtesy of Steve Nash of EyeCandyAir.

Ingoalmag.com describes the new NHL equipment:

"After making the move physically to Nashville over the weekend, Mason is set to debut another amazing mask from EyeCandyAir, and just like his first Jets mask, it borrows from one of his favourite bands by using an Iron Maiden Eddie.

In fact, the Eddie in question is from the Egyptian-themed cover of the band's Powerslave album, which also produced the single Aces High and corresponding Eddie included on last year's mask. It's a theme that works perfectly because the album covers were created originally by artist Derek Riggs, who has inspired the mask's artist, Steve Nash, throughout his own career.

A new year, new shows and new musicians!
As you all know Maiden uniteD is a project where we would like to unite a lot of people through Iron Maiden's music. We think we reached a great part of this goal over the last 3 years. We started in the summer of 2010 with some try-out shows (Line-up: Damian Wilson, Thijs Schrijnemakers, Ruud Jolie, Dirk Bruinenberg, Joey Bruers) and in December 2010 we released our first album and started the first tour with the well known line-up of excellent musicians and crew. Maiden uniteD’s career went straight to a high level. Another tour in April 2011 was up next, some full shows at the biggest European festivals, a tour in Greece and Cyprus and the debut album “Mind The Acoustic Pieces” was sold world wide within a year!

There was no doubt about recording another album. In march of 2012 we started the recordings of the album “Across The Seventh Sea” which we released in September 2012. We became a united family and we guess you all know exactly what we mean. We will stay in this family and the journey of Maiden uniteD will have a sequel this year. We had guest-musicians in our line-up during the past shows and for the next shows we will unite some new musicians in our line-up of which we are very proud to announce.

For the upcoming shows Marco Kuypers and Mike Coolen will not be joining us on stage. The new musicians will be none other than
Lee Morris (ex-Paradise Lost) on drums for the UK shows
Stef Broks (Textures) on drums for the NL/B shows
On piano we will have Huub van Loon (Dearworld/Barry Hay).
Damian, Ruud and Joey will be the familiar faces.

We would like to thank Marco and Mike for their great effort to Maiden uniteD. In the future we might join each other on stage again. Marco and Mike would like to speak a personal word to those who love Maiden uniteD and we hope to see you all in April, July and September!

Cheers lads,
Ruud and Joey

Hey everybody,

Here is a message to all Maiden UniteD fans from Mike and Marco. We are going to leave Maiden United for a while. Maiden United was always intended to be a 'side-project'
for everyone. It 'unites' all the musicians who love Iron Maiden and want to play their music in an acoustic way. Now we decided that we are going to devote more of our time to our other projects:
Mike has his main band Within Temptation and Marco has his own studio with lots of projects. We both play in Cloudmachine as well. For Mike there is also another band called Red Vultures.

No hard feelings in the band though! In the future we might return for another couple of shows!
Although we regret the fact that we are leaving, the feeling of pride is much stronger! We are proud of what we have achieved with Maiden UniteD: Two records, great club shows in Europe, the Wacken and Download festivals and performing with fantastic guest musicians. But most of all we are proud of playing with these good friends and musicians for two years and seeing lots of fans. Thanks guys!
We wish Maiden United the best of luck and lots of succes in the future!

Thank you Joey, Ruud, Damian, Barbara, Marc, Jarno and all who were involved in Maiden uniteD!!!

Et tant qu'à faire, trois extraits d'"Across The Seventh Sea" :

Parlophone Records (BMG/INgrooves Music Group for the USA) will follow the 2012/13 IRON MAIDEN vinyl picture disc reissues of the first eight Iron Maiden albums, which spanned the 1980s, with brand new pressings of the albums in heavyweight 180g black vinyl.

In conjunction with these premium album releases, a strictly limited one-off run of the 7” singles from each respective album will be made available. These highly collectable black vinyl singles will be cut from the original analogue master tapes. Released in replica artwork packaging, they are sure to become a must-have item for fans, collectors and anyone who missed out first time round.

The albums will also be cut from the original analogue master tapes and packaged in identical artwork to the initial 1980’s releases. As a bonus, the first batch of album releases (Iron Maiden/Killers/The Number Of The Beast) will also be made available in a Collector’s Box sized to house all 8 albums. This package will be a strictly limited edition and available while stocks last.

The records will be released chronologically across a two month period starting October 13th (14th USA) with the first 3 albums (Iron Maiden/Killers/The Number Of The Beast) and the seven corresponding 7” singles:

Running Free b/w Burning Ambition
Sanctuary b/w Drifter (Live) and I’ve Got The Fire (Live)
Women In Uniform b/w Invasion
Twilight Zone/Wrathchild double A side
Purgatory b/w Genghis Khan
Run To The Hills b/w Total Eclipse
The Number Of The Beast b/w Remember Tomorrow (Live)

Followed by:

October 27th (28th USA): Piece Of Mind, Powerslave and Live After Death and the six corresponding 7” singles:

Flight Of Icarus b/w I’ve Got The Fire
The Trooper b/w Cross-Eyed Mary
2 Minutes To Midnight b/w Rainbow’s Gold
Aces High b/w King Of Twilight
Running Free (Live) b/w Sanctuary (Live)
Run To The Hills (Live) b/w Phantom Of The Opera (Live)

November 24th (25th USA): Somewhere In Time and Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son and the six corresponding 7” singles:

Wasted Years b/w Reach Out
Stranger In A Strange Land b/w That Girl
Can I Play With Madness b/w Black Bart Blues
The Evil That Men Do b/w Prowler ‘88
The Clairvoyant b/w The Prisoner (Live)
Infinite Dreams (Live) b/w Killers (Live)

The release of these high quality, black vinyl records offers optimum choice to fans who would like to own a piece of Maiden’s authentic 1980’s vinyl sound, or for those simply wanting to rediscover this much loved, iconic format. Coupled with the end of the Maiden England World Tour which began in North America in 2012 and finished last month at Knebworth Park’s Sonisphere Festival, this now completes Maiden’s 1980’s touring and catalogue reissues cycle, so the band are free to focus on their dynamic future plans.

BRUCE DICKINSON UNDERGOES CANCER TREATMENT

Just before Christmas, Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson visited his doctor for a routine check-up. This led to tests and biopsies which revealed a small cancerous tumour at the back of his tongue. A seven week course of chemotherapy and radiology treatment was completed yesterday. As the tumour was caught in the early stages, the prognosis thankfully is extremely good. Bruce’s medical team fully expect him to make a complete recovery with the all clear envisaged by late May. It will then take a further few months for Bruce to get back to full fitness. In the meantime we would ask for your patience, understanding and respect for Bruce and his family’s privacy until we update everyone by the end of May. Bruce is doing very well considering the circumstances and the whole team are very positive.

:hum:
Parlophone Records (BMG/INgrooves Music Group for the USA) are delighted to announce the release of nineteen IRON MAIDEN catalogue albums which have been Mastered For iTunes (iTunes.com/IronMaiden), encoded from 24-bit / 96 khz high resolution masters and now re-mastered with iTunes in mind, delivering the music to listeners exactly the way the artist and recording engineer intended. These are brand new re-masters from their original analogue sources, exclusively produced for iTunes.

All fifteen studio albums, 2 Best Of compilations and 2 live albums were personally selected by Maiden's founder member Steve Harris for this superior mastering technique : Iron Maiden, Killers, The Number Of The Beast, Piece Of Mind, Powerslave, Somewhere In Time, Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son, No Prayer For The Dying, Fear Of The Dark, The X Factor, Virtual XI, Brave New World, Dance Of Death, A Matter Of Life And Death, The Final Frontier, Somewhere Back In Time, From Fear To Eternity (2CD), Live after Death (2CD) and Rock In Rio( 2CD)

Steve comments,
"The Mastering For iTunes procedure allows the listener to experience the music as close as possible to the way the artist intended it to be heard. So of course I was very keen for the Maiden albums to be mastered in this way. The records have been available digitally before, when this medium first became a platform for music distribution but that was mastered with CDs in mind. The iTunes process involves a different approach and it's great to finally deliver the music to our fans in as close to a pure and accurate sound as we could possibly achieve. For example, as most people know, I was never really happy with the sound on the first Maiden album but listening to it now, the guitars are louder, the drums more substantial and the overall tone is so very much improved in my opinion. Tony Newton and Ade Emsley who worked closely with me on the project did a terrific job recapturing everything from the original masters and together we've re- mastered them all digitally and I'm really happy with the results."

Tony Newton adds:
“The process started with locating all of the original album mix tapes (or whichever format they were mixed to). Then the choice of analogue to digital convertor was chosen for the most accurate capture to make it as close as possible to the sound of the mix as it was intended by the band. When a lot of these tapes were last captured it was in the 1980's, early days of digital and only 44.1khz/16bit files were possible. On top of this the new A/D convertors are far superior now, and of course it is possible to produce files of far higher resolution. The result of this is that the songs now sound more defined with added depth and warmth. I was very excited to be asked to be part of this project, I honestly feel that there is a massive improvement in the quality of these classic albums.”
