New PRIMAL FEAR CD To Feature Duet With EPICA Singer - Feb. 28, 2007

German power metallers PRIMAL FEAR have posted the following message on their official web site:

"Sorry for our delay in updating the page with news from the recording session, but a lot of things happened and today we're back with another round of studio news and pictures! The bass guitar recordings were finished last weekend and most of the basic guitar stuff too. At least we are working on final 11 tracks including a 10 minute monster 'Fighting the Darkness'. Mat [Sinner, bass] has injured his left hand yesterday in an accident at the studio. It's not that tragic, that he can't continue to produce the album, but he needs four stiches and a bandage. The doctors have to tell if the SINNER tour has to be postponed... but aside of this, we can report some very creative and lucky moments during the session.

"Simone Simons of EPICA joined us for some sensational vocal work and for the first time in PRIMAL FEAR's career a vocal duet with a female singer. We are very pround about the final version of 'Every Time It Rains', which has a different vibe for PRIMAL FEAR and our fans.

"Ralf Scheepers will continue to track his fantastic vocal work today, while Stefan Leibing will join the band on Thursday to finalize the basic guitars. Orchestra maestro Matthias Ulmer will join the session today to put some finishing touches on the keyboard and orchestra section during the next week!" Other songtitles set to appear on the follow-up to 2005's "Seven Seals" include "Save Me" and "Torn". A summer release via Frontiers Records is expected.

PRIMAL FEAR recently extended its ten-year partnership with Warner/Chappell Publishing for a minimum of three more albums and five years.

PRIMAL FEAR released a "best of" collection, entitled "Metal is Forever - The Very Best of Primal Fear", on September 29 via the band's previous label, Nuclear Blast Records (with whom they parted ways earlier in the year). The album's artwork was created by Stephan Lohrmann, who was also responsible for the cover of PRIMAL FEAR's "Black Sun" album. The 16-track compilation also includes a special bonus CD of "classic metal tracks."

Contrairement a ses conccurrentes (tarja, sharon... mais je connais pas tous le sdossiers a fond...) elle a l'air assez bonne ambiance la Simone quand même !

The journalists heard the unmastered version of the album, minus the title track which had yet to be completed. Carl has issued the following overview:

"Even from a fan's point of view the album is a surprise, and the operative word is 'more'. Everything about the Epica's sound on The Divine Conspiracy has been beefed up: Simone Simons displays a much wider vocal range, the symphonic vocal choirs are far more aggressive compared to the band's previous two albums, and there has been a definite move into the realms of black metal with more growls and blastbeats on many of the songs. There's also an increased use of Eastern melodies throughout the album, so overall The Divine Conspiracy features the established Epica sound, but the level of agression and power to which they've risen is completely unexpected.

There are also a number of connections made to guitarist/vocalist Mark Jansen's former band, AFTER FOREVER, with AF guitarist/vocalist Sander Gommans adding growls to one song, and the completion of Jansen's saga 'The Embrace That Smothers', which began on After Forever's debut Prison Of Desire in 2000 and was continued on Epica's 2003 debut, The Phantom Agony.

The first official single from the album will be the song 'Never Enough', which is NOT a ballad. Two videos are being made for the song - one for the metal masses and one, as Simone jokingly revealed, "for our mothers..." - by the same crew that made KAMELOT's 'Ghost Opera' video.

Bottom line; Epica has veered away from the typical/trendy female fronted symphonic metal scene and are going to find new fans with The Divine Conspiracy."

After having announced the title of the upcoming Epica album last week, this week we want to give you some more info on The Divine Conspiracy.

The Divine Conspiracy will be Epica’s first full length concept album. This concept deals with the theory that, as a test, God created all kinds of different religions and released those upon humanity to see if they would be able to find the true nature of them, realizing that in all religions it is actually the same. But there’s more to it, it also concludes the “Embrace That Smothers” concept that could already be found on The Phantom Agony.

We also want to mention a special guest performance on this cd; Sander Gommans (After Forever & HDK) joined us in the studio to record some of his amazing grunts for one of the songs!

And to conclude: We have just returned from Belgrade (Serbia) to shoot the video for our first single: Never Enough. This video was shot by renowned director Ivan Colic from ICode Team & Rock the Nations. More info on this video will follow soon!
