Guitarist Mike Sifringer of German thrashers DESTRUCTION broke his finger in Belgium last week.
"Yes, sad but true, the middle finger on the left hand is broken, the ring finger is cracked," the guitarist says. "I have to pause and rest my hand for at least two weeks, so no complications can occur."
DESTRUCTION will play the Caos Emergente festival in Portugal next week — possibly with replacement guitar players. "[By the time of the] release party shows at the end of the month, I will be back on the track for sure," Sifringer says.
According to a posting on DESTRUCTION's web site, "the injury happened at the Vlamrock festival in Belgium. Mike and the band were watching a hardcore show when an aggressive fan jumped out of the moshpit into the crowd with a kick jump. Mike did not see him coming and he hit his left hand with full power. The negative clinical report of the hospital in Genk was fracture of the middle finger right away."
After Mikes broken bones last week in Belgium, the band has chosen a great replacement for the upcoming show in Portugal.
"Our friend Ol Drake from EVILE will step in and shred for DESTRUCTION at the CAOS EMERGENTE FESTIVAL in Portugal. He's the perfect match: young, wild, talented & a DESTRUCTION fan to the bone. The kids will love him!!! SCHMIER tells us.
Indeed EVILE had an astonishing uprising career & are now counting as one of the most famous new THRASHstars. The UK hopefulls always been supported by the DESTRUCTION mainman.
Ol gave us the following statement: "I was gutted to hear about Mike's injury. I wish all the best to him and hope he heals fast!
I got a mail from Schmier asking if I could step in on guitar. It was an obvious 'yes'.
I absolutely love destruction so this is a huge honor and privilege for me. Can't wait! it's gonna kick ass. Luckilly I can already play alot of the set being a fan.
A huge thank you to Schmier, Mike and Marc for this dream gig!"
WE say thank you Ol - kick some serious fuckin' ass!
