French goth metallers THE OLD DEAD TREE have officially split up.
Commented frontman Manuel: "I wish I never had to write those words, but nothing is forever. These last few months, some disagreements started to grow within the band, regarding commitment and musical direction in the making of our fourth album. Those differences of opinions soon turned out to be a dead-end problem and led me to make the decision of ending the band's activities.
"In twelve years of existence, THE OLD DEAD TREE had its share of lineup changes. Of course, each of them has been an improvement, but they were also painful losses. And I do not want to face that kind of loss again.
"Be that as it may, I am still extremely proud of the work we have achieved and I want to thank all the people without whom nothing would have been possible: past and present band members with whom I learnt so much and had amazing times, our wonderful crew, our label Season of Mist, our tour booker K Productions, and especially the fans who supported us and encouraged us to go forwards. I wish them all the best in their future endeavours.
"This is now farewell."
Manuel - The old Dead Tree
The Old Dead Tree n'est plus.
En douze années d'existence The Old Dead Tree a connu suffisamment de changements de line up.
Having completed The Nameless Tour to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of their debut album, The Nameless Disease, it would appear that The Old Dead Tree have something in store for their fans! Recently, the band revealed that they have written and recorded 5 brand new tracks to be accompanied by a DVD, both set for a tentative release this year.
Manuel Munoz wrote: "As you know, the five ultimate tracks of the band have been recorded. The songs should be released on CD this year. The process takes more time than planned because we decided to add some video content to the music. Indeed, as I'm posting this, Julien Metternich, who directed all the band's videos, is working on gathering old footages from The Nameless Tour. He already interviewed all the past and present band members in order to make a film that will try to explain how we lived and died as a band."
The band's last opus was the '07 release titled The Water Fields, making it nearly a decade since they released any new material. Who's excited?
The Old Dead Tree stands tall amidst the ruins of fleeting trends and hollow promises. Forged in the fires of pain and perseverance, their music weaves tales of agony and resilience with a dark elegance few can rival.
Their latest album, Second Thoughts, dives deep into the brooding abyss of human experience. Each track captures the raw pain of existence and the bittersweet taste of fleeting joy. From the haunting introspection of "Unpredictable" to the merciless pounding of "The Trap", every note is a visceral reminder of life’s unpredictable twists.
As you journey through the melodies and lyrics, you’ll find yourself confronting your own demons, only to emerge stronger, reborn. It’s an unflinching exploration of love, loss, and the burning desire to overcome the shadows that hunt us all.
