Resurrected late '80s/early '90s death metal outfit PESTILENCE has uploaded a new song, "Horror Detox", on the band's MySpace page. The track comes off the group's new album, "Resurrection Macabre", which is scheduled for release on March 13 in Europe (April 14 in the U.S.) via Holland's Mascot Records. The band recorded a total of 14 songs during the session at Hansen Studios in Ribe, Denmark — 11 new tracks and three classic PESTILENCE cuts (as chosen by the fans) to be included on the limited-edition first pressing: "Out Of The Body", "Chemo Therapy" and "Lost Souls". Joining guitarist/vocalist Patrick Mameli in PESTILENCE's current recording lineup are Tony Choy (ATHEIST, CYNIC) on bass and Peter Wildoer (DARKANE, NON-HUMAN LEVEL) on drums. Patrick has previously described the band's new material as a modern fusion of "Testimony of the Ancients" (1991) and "Spheres" (1993), but even more technical and brutal. Other songtitles set to appear on the CD include "Hangman (Into The Mind Of An Executioner)", "Synthetic Grotesque (Trying To Create Through Cloning)", "Fiend (Drugaddiction)", "Resurrection Macabre (The Return Of The Pestilence)" and "Hate Suicide (Last Hours Of A Suicide-Bomber)".

ben Pestilence je trouve qu'ils ont pas vraiment un style ou un son qui forge leur identité, ça dépend de la période à laquelle on se raccroche, perso je peux pas avec "The Sphere" donc ce que j'entend là me rassure un peu même si c'est pas ça qui va me foutre sur le cul
Ca sonne forcé, un genre de retour aux sources pour flatter le fan de la première heure qui s'est fait cracher à la gueule par le sieur Mameli lors de sa crise "d'évolution" musicale. Sans saveur pour un groupe d'une telle ampleur. Où est la magie?
Bah, je kiffe bien ces nouveaux titres, même si c'est pas " testimony of the ancients" non plus c'est clair!
En tout cas j'attends l'album avec impatience (sans compter le concert au nouveau casino ! Putain je les ai jamais vu! ça va saigner!)
^ Ouh laaaa... Ça me fait plus pensé à du Morbid Angel (B/C/D) qu'à du Pestilence... A part le (minuscule) solo qui fait très Spheres.
Par-contre, c'est pas mauvais, et curieusement vachement old-school et foncièrement death metal. Idem pour Hate Suicide, avec un solo plus consistant et à la croisée entre les solos lents d'Azagthoth et les solos de Spheres.
Va vraiment falloir que je l'achète cet album pour me faire une idée sur la longueur. A priori, j'accroche assez aux morceaux en écoute, mais ça me fait bizarre que ça sorte sous le nom de Pestilence (et que ce soit un album de 2009 ).
je trouve l'album très bon même si ca sonne morbid angel par moment "Devouring frenzy" on reconnait bien la marque de fabrique Pestilence et le style de Mameli - qui reste un putain de gratteux.
Perso j'adore la prod signé jacobs hansen, le son a la patate - c'est marrant j'ai toujours préféré le son de "consuming impulse" signé Harris john a celui de "Testimony of the ancients" qui fut réalisé par Scott Burns.
J'aime bien ce morceau, mais comme ça a été déjà beaucoup dit sur ce topic, on dirait vraiment du Morbid Angel. Par-contre, c'est répétitif comme truc... mais au moins c'est court. Il va diviser cet album, voire me diviser moi-même.
J'ai écouté un titre sur le sampler, j'ai pas trouvé ça dégueu en fait...
Ce qui me gène le plus, et comme ça a déjà été dit plus haut, c'est ce retour forcé de Patrick Mameli qui chiait sur le death metal il y a peu...le fait de l'avoir croisé en compagnie de Toxic Steel à Eindhoven en septembre dernier avec son beau Tee Shirt Pestilence "European Death Metal Gods"...pffff ça fait beau retournement de veste.
L'album, je le choppe en LP en priorité,sinon le CD, lorsque ce dernier sera en midprice...
bof, bof et re-bof, le clip est pauvret et le morceau pas très inspiré, encore une fois. cette reformation ne va certainement pas durer plus de deux albums vu comme c'est parti
Retour au bercail du bassiste présent sur Spheres, Jeroen Paul Thesseling, également dans Obscura.
OBSCURA bassist Jeroen Paul Thesseling has rejoined resurrected late '80s/early '90s death metallers PESTILENCE after a 15-year break. Thesseling, known for his six-string fretless signature, played on PESTILENCE's fourth album, "Spheres".
"After such a long period of time it's great to be part of PESTILENCE again," Jeroen says in a statement. "I'm convinced that this cooperation will result in brilliant technical death metal.
"In order to avoid misunderstandings I want to emphasize that I will continue to work with my German colleagues of OBSCURA as well."

Pareil, j'aime beaucoup. Pas leur meilleur album, pas le plus emblématique, mais très largement dans le haut du panier pour moi. On reconnaît quand-même la touche Pestilence, même si c'est noyé dans plein de plans entendus mille fois et qui font penser à d'autres groupes (Morbid Angel et Gorefest en particulier). Seul le chant est dérangeant pour moi, pas assez varié ni assez expressif.
Je crois que j'aurais quand-même préféré un trip dans la veine de Spheres (mais en restant bien metal), ça aurait été bien plus intéressant que cet album pur death metal qui apporte pas grand-chose à la discographie du groupe...
Le groupe a trouvé un nouveau batteur pour remplacé Peter Wildoer qui n'était là qu'en tant que batteur de session
le remplaçant m'est totalement inconnu:
