"Well, the first stage of this tour is behind us and thank God for that. As with all tours I have ever been on over the past 20 years, all tours have bugs in the beginning. Fortunately we have top notch professional people out here from every band and we are now in smooth waters.
"My dream for Gigantour is alive and all of the bands are having a great time. But I don't know who is having a better time — you, the fans, or us, band guys. The backstage environment is one of the best I have ever been in, and I will tell you that we are all, and I mean every band, playing better every night. The DVD is going to be awesome!!!
"Thank you for supporting this dream, thank you for staying metal!
"Tomorrow night [August 2] in Dallas I am supposed to play a song with DREAM THEATER on behalf of Darryl [sic]. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I have fun since I have never jammed with another band like this. Wish me luck!"

THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN have been forced to pull out of their remaining Gigantour live dates because of an injury to guitarist Ben Weinman. Weinman severely re-injured his arm Sunday night (having originally injured it several months ago) during the tour's stop in Atlantic City, NJ and was told by a specialist yesterday that he will be unable to perform until further notice.
Weinman commented, "We were enjoying playing every night as part of Gigantour, and to not be able to finish the tour is an enormous disappointment to us."

Jamais entendu parler d'un groupe avec autant de casses côté zicos. Enfin, ça m'etonne pas trop à ce que j'ai vu sur scène

Mike Portnoy a joué sur "Peace Sells" avec Megadeth pour leur dernière date commune :
DREAM THEATER drummer Mike Portnoy joined MEGADETH on stage for a rendition of "Peace Sells" during the two bands' joint appearance at the Toronto stop of the Gigantour festival tour on Saturday (September 3). MEGADETH skinsman Shawn Drover reportedly played guitar alongside brother Glen while Portnoy sat behind Shawn's kit.

lors d'un tchat récent, Portnoy aurait affirmé pouvoir jouer n'importe quelle chanson des 3 premiers albums, mais qu'il aurait voulu jouer Holy Wars.

As news of the return of Gigantour becomes imminent, last year's fast and furious inaugural festival tour arrives in stores on deluxe 2-CD and 2-DVD sets August 22 and September 5, respectively, via Image Entertainment. Both configurations capture 2005's heavy metal onslaught that was hailed as the best metal bill of the year, with Revolver magazine calling it "the mother of all shred fests." Organized by MEGADETH frontman Dave Mustaine as a tour featuring "only bands whose musicianship matches their ability to melt faces with sheer volume and power" (Miami Herald), "Gigantour" features unforgettable performances by MEGADETH, DREAM THEATER and FEAR FACTORY as well as ANTHRAX (CD only), NEVERMORE, LIFE OF AGONY, SYMPHONY X, DRY KILL LOGIC and BOBAFLEX.
The "Gigantour" DVD set encompasses a special bonus disc with all the no-holds-barred offstage action: tour bus visits, backstage drama, practical jokes plus interviews with the people who make a national package tour happen, like tour managers, pyrotechnics experts and band members. The "Gigantour" CD contains three songs not included on the DVD.
"There are a few very successful tours out each summer and in order to be significant, I knew the first Gigantour had to make an impact with top bands,” says Mustaine. The six-week tour — with bands personally chosen by Mustaine — was designed to help bring like-minded hard rock fans together at a reasonable price, with most tickets in the $40 range. "I wanted to put together a festival that consisted of positive bands that play heavy music in a high-energy environment," Mustaine said in the July '05 Guitar World. "I think the variety of playing styles and the credibility of the different players is really exciting."
