Toujours pareil, King Diamond n'écarte pas la possibilité de refaire un album du Fate, d'autant que dans leur contrat ils doivent encore un album à Metal Blade.

Mais ça serait une sorte de sacrifice pour lui :

King Diamond: It's very difficult to predict. I certainly won't say that the book has been closed on the band, since MERCYFUL FATE has a deal with Metal Blade for another album. Downloading has really hurt the labels and it has had some major implications on how artist contracts are structured. The fact of the matter is that KING DIAMOND has always outsold MERCYFUL FATE. KING DIAMOND always had more people coming to shows, bigger tours, better contracts, and better record sales. The way we have to do things now is to keep an eye on costs, and we record a lot of the KING DIAMOND material on our own equipment in our own studio. MERCYFUL FATE has a contract that is much less lucrative than KING DIAMOND, but there would be much higher costs associated with doing a record. There was a time when I could put the KING DIAMOND stuff down for six months and do a MERCYFUL FATE album and not have to subsist on bread and water. The long answer to your question: There would have to be a healthy chunk of time where KING DIAMOND was not busy with other commitments. For me, it would be something of a sacrifice.

je suis fan depuis le début, de MF et KD. Même si j'ai une préférence pour le deuxième.

C'est vrai que MF s'était un peu relaché musicalement. comparé aux fabuleux "in the beginning"; "melissa" et "don't break the oath".

Même si le prochain album ne sort pas dans l'immédiat, je l'attendrai quand même avec impatience.

Vivement celui de King Diamond, en tout cas. ça fait tout de même plus de trois ans que The Puppet Master est sorti. Même si l'album semble bien parti pour voir sortir cette année, ça devient fichtrement long, à croire que les groupes se sont passé le mot pour jouer un peu avec les nerfs de leurs fans dernièrement.

Je viens seulement de voir que le King a sorti un live intitulé Deadly Lullabies Live en 2004. Vaut-il le coup (contenu mais aussi packaging) ?

Ah oui il est terrible ce live

Même si on peut lui reprocher un son un peu trop lisse (comme sur le dernier KD) et un public "sous-mixé" ou paradoxalement trop naturel en fait, pas assez trafiqué pour ce dernier

Car on sent que l'ambiance y est, mais on ne l'entend pas assez à mon goût.
Mais l'interprétation est mortelle, la tracklist solide (bien que trop courte forcément), ça donne une nouvelle jeunesse aux vieux titres notamment. Et chouette digi aussi ouaip.

Pour le Fate eh bien on a plus qu'à attendre que ça se fasse... encore et encore...

Kim Ruzz, LE batteur de Mercyful Fate, laisse entendre que tout est encore possible pour une reformation du line-up "classique", si on lit entre les lignes :

"Yes, I became a postman for a short period, but not in the U.S. as many people think, but In Denmark. After that I took an education in the construction business and worked as foreman and calculator.

"Many stories have been told that [Michael] Denner [MERCYFUL FATE guitarist] and I couldn't stand the sight of each other, [but] it could not be more wrong. We were, and still are, best friends.

"As you know we won a Danish [Metal] music award [in November 2006]. We [attended the event] together, the four of us [Michael Denner (guitar), Hank Shermann (guitar), Timi 'Grabber' Hansen (bass) and Kim Ruzz (drums)], [as] King [Diamond] couldn't make it. And the magic was reborn. So who knows what's going to happen next?"

Qu'il se sacrifie !!! ce serait génial si cet album sortai ! même si ils sont pas hyper motivés nul doute que ça fera un bon album tellement ces mecs on du talent !

King Diamond: If my back had been fine, I don't know if I would have done anything with MERCY as KING DIAMOND would have been very busy. It's a long story, you know, and it goes back to when the downloading went nuts. "Abigail II" was about to come out and we lost tour support for the first time ever and had to re-negotiate our contracts. We ended up finding a new way to record and keep the same quality and that was by using Andy's [La Rocque, guitar] pro studio in Sweden. That way KING DIAMOND's recording costs went down, and if we hadn't had found that solution, we would have had to stop. MERCY is a different scenario. You know, Andy is not part of MERCY so he is not going to put his equipment at the disposal of MERCYFUL FATE for free. MERCY has never sold or done the same big tours as KING DIAMOND — it was always smaller. Therefore MERCY has a smaller budget than KING DIAMOND and always has, and in this scenario, right now, MERCY has a much smaller budget but with higher recording costs. That means that doing a MERCY album, you are not going to make a penny. I love doing what I do and certainly I am so blessed to live off my hobby. But you still have to pay your bills, since this is your job as well as your hobby. You just can't take a year off the calendar and say "Let's do a MERCY album" and tour knowing you are not going to make a dime. If I was financially independent, I would love to do it. You just can't, you couldn't, for instance, stop working for a year and say, "I am going to ride my bike for a year just because I love it." You probably wouldn't have a home to come back, you have to pay your bills but that's just life. That's why MERCY is in a dilemma, but who knows if there was suddenly a time where KING DIAMOND was off. If by chance some of the guys said "Hey, man, let's take a year off to work on other things," and everyone agreed. Then I might say, "Hey, I want to do something with MERCY", because then the time would be there. I would have no money coming in anyway and it was okay with everyone then I would love to do it. Because as it is, MERCYFUL FATE wouldn't have to work with our lawyers to get a deal because we do have a deal. We are signed with Metal Blade for the U.S. and Massacre for Europe with MERCYFUL FATE so there is a deal and it's done but no albums have been done on that deal. We didn't take any advances because we weren't sure whether we are going to release a new album or not and then end up not doing it. So nothing has been done; it's just laying, but it's ready and we did that exactly for that reason. If suddenly the situation presented itself six months from now, then let's do it, but if we don't have a deal then it's impossible to do it. Because then you have to search for a deal and that could take forever. By then the opportunity to do it could be gone, so we got the deals done so can do it when the time is right. Let's just say that downloading put MERCYFUL FATE into hibernation for awhile. But if the right opportunity arose, then yes, let's do it. I can guarantee you that it won't be one of those reunion deals because we never broke up. I see it as hibernating for a while but we will see what the future brings. It's definitely not finished, at least in my book.

According to Denmark's TV 2 VIP, King Diamond has told BT.dk that there is a good chance that a new studio album from his classic heavy metal act MERCYFUL FATE will surface at some point in the not-too-distant future.

"Hank [Shermann, guitar] has written songs [for the proposed MERCYFUL FATE CD]. And he is ready for our new masterpiece," King Diamond is quoted as saying.

King Diamond (real name: Kim Bendix Petersen; KING DIAMOND, MERCYFUL FATE) has released a statement in response to an article that was published late last month on the Danish web site BT.dk which focused primarily on King's relationship with his 24-year-old Hungarian wife Livia Zita.

King, who is 52 years old, says: "I'm writing this in order to set the facts straight with regards to the interview I did for a Danish newspaper just before Christmas.

"When I read the article it became obvious that this particular journalist had an agenda of his own. At least half the article was false, twisting the facts to suit his 'agenda.'

"First of all, Livia and I have no plans for having kids in the near future. We certainly love kids but it doesn't fit in our working schedule at this point. I don't know where the journalist got this thing from, but we do appreciate all the nice words you had regarding this subject even though it's not true. Also, Livia and I do not look forward to Christmas like little kids every year. It's a cozy time, sure, but again the journalist's choice of words are completely twisted.

"Just for your info, the Christmas tree in the picture [see below] is THE ONLY Christmas decoration inside or outside our house and it stays up year round cause I don't want to bother taking it down and it looks pretty cool. Check the goat skull right next to the tree. I can see that if I open the door to my private life just a tiny bit, things quickly get twisted out of context, and that's why in the past I have always kept my private life and business very separate.

"The second rumour that's floating around, which is that MERCYFUL FATE has started writing new material, I really have no idea where it originated from.

"The present status of MERCYFUL FATE remains unchanged, meaning that we have not started writing new material. For that to happen, MERCYFUL FATE's recording contracts have to be renegotiated first. We certainly would love for this to happen so that we can finally make our long-overdue 'masterpiece.' Both Hank [Shermann, MERCYFUL FATE guitarist] and I are ready to go if that scenario presents itself, and who knows, that might happen this year.

"So... for this year, you will see a double DVD of old private KING DIAMOND video recordings and a double DVD of old private MERCYFUL FATE video recordings which I am working on as we speak. Andy [La Rocque, KING DIAMOND guitarist] has finished remastering 'The Graveyard', 'Spider's Lullabye', 'Voodoo', and 'House of God', all of which should also be available this year. And then there is 'the big surprise' (not little King babies with horns on their foreheads or MERCYFUL FATE writing new songs, at least not as we speak) but something that could lead to renegotiations of the MERCYFUL FATE recording deals. We'll see. Be patient.....

"On a personal note, I do feel reasonably confident that the MERCYFUL FATE masterpiece will see the light of day."

ouais mais il est moins fermé qu'à une certaine époque! En 2006, pendant la tournée européenne de KING DIAMOND, il ne voulait pas entendre trop parler de MERCYFUL FATE, bien qu'il reprenait "evil" et "come to the sabbat" en concert...

Pendant ce temps, leur premier (et de loin meilleur) batteur Kim Ruzz s'est remis à jouer et a même formé un groupe, METALRUZZ. Cela augure donc de nouveaux espoirs concernant une reformation...

According to the En Lejemorder Ser Tilbage blog, former MERCYFUL FATE drummer Kim Ruzz (a.k.a. Kim Thyge Jensen) has resurfaced in a brand new Danish heavy metal band called METALRUZZ.

The news of Kim's return to the rock scene was first reported by a local Danish newspaper, Ugenyt, which inexplicably failed to mention the musician's connection to the legendary heavy metal band when it interviewed him earlier this month.

Kim, who currently works as a consultant at Slagelse Job Center in Slagelse, Denmark, spoke to the paper about his rough upbringing and job history, which included a five-year stint as a postman.

At the moment, there no information available about METALRUZZ's musical direction or future plans, but Ugenyt did publish a band photo (see below) ahead of METALRUZZ's September 6 performance at the SUK festival in Slagelse, Denmark.

After MERCYFUL FATE was presented with the "honor award" at the Danish Metal Awards 2006, Ruzz released a statement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET in which he said, "Yes, I became a postman for a short period, but not in the U.S. as many people think. Plus ou moins. King Diamond (le groupe) génère plus d'argent que Mercyful Fate à tous les niveaux, donc King Diamond (le moustachu) n'a pas trop d'intérêt à reformer un groupe qui ne lui permettrait pas de payer les factures et qui l’empêcherait de se consacrer à son propre groupe.
Raison pour laquelle Mercyful Fate a besoin d'un bon gros buzz, de la pression des autres membres, et d'une période très creuse de King Diamond pour qu'une reformation puisse avoir lieu.

Pour moi Mercyful Fate a toujours été un groupe plus "gros" que King Diamond, mais a priori je me plante en beauté. Par exemple sur Lastfm King Diamond a été plus écoute que MF (ça vaut ce que ça vaut mais ça reste un indicateur).
