Cette info n'est pas récente mais je trouve assez étrange qu'une maison de disque investisse sur un groupe pour seulement un album. Dans une interview récente, Leif Edling disait que Candlemass avait quitté Nuclear Blast car Napalm Records lui avait fait une offre qu'on ne peut pas refuser (avec un sous entendu financier).
Encore une fois j'ai l'impression que la fin discographique de Candlemass n'a qu'un seul but...créer un buzz autour du groupe...et je vois bien un album avec un tout nouveau chanteur en 2016...et puis ce ne sera pas le premier groupe qui fait ses adieux pour revenir quelques années plus tard

En tout cas j'ai écouté Psalms Of The Dead hier et il est foutrement bon! Dans la lignée de Death Magic Doom mais en étant un peu plus varié. Un régal!

Interview de Edling sur le futur du groupe qui ne splittera donc pas :
Chad Bowar: What was behind the decision to make Psalms For The Dead the final Candlemass studio album?
Leif Edling: "Better to do one last album and make it official than just fade away as a band. We can’t just keep on making album on album on album. This is a good way to do it, and I’m sure we’ll be around for some years to come anyway."
Chad Bowar: Did that change the vibe in the studio as you recorded it?
Leif Edling: "No, not really. It was generally a good vibe in the studio during the recording and we worked as usual. It's lot of hard work to make a Candlemass album, and this was no exception. But the atmosphere in the studio was great and we enjoyed working together as we always do."
Chad Bowar: You have said Candlemass will continue. Are there plans to release any other material (live albums, DVDs, reissues, rarities, compilations, etc.)?
Leif Edling: "We will release the Epicus (Doomicus Metallicus) gig from Roadburn last year on DVD and vinyl some time in the future, and also make a new DVD from one of the Psalms shows. With a bit of luck we will also release a Doomology 2 box set with DVD’s from the history of the band. Don’t know when that can be, maybe on the 30:th anniversary!"

perso j'ai un peu de peine avec ce dernier Candlemass, pas que ça soit mauvais, mais j'ai aucune envie de l'écouter.... pourtant y a rien de fondamentalement différent que les deux précédents que j'avais adorés. Mais je trouve pas les compos très enthousiasmantes.
'fin ça doit être psychologique, dernier album, trop d'attentes, tout ça quoi...
Mais bon peut-être que dans quelques temps j'y reviendrais avec plus de plaisir

Je suis assez d'accord. J'ai jeté qu'un oreille distraite pour le moment, mais le clavier m'a vraiment pas emballé.
Ça reste très sympa et du très bon Candlemass sinon. Mais moins marquant que les deux albums précédents j'ai l'impression.

Ban, ben il est super ce disque ! Je maintiens que certains passages de clavier sont pas indispensables, mais finalement ça gave pas trop.

Je déterre juste ce topic pour dire que bien que je l'avais déjà apprécié dès sa sortie, je l'ai vraiment beaucoup écouté cette année et surtout ces dernières semaines en boucle (les excellentes prestations live avec Levens ayant probablement aidé à vouloir en remettre un coup), et au final je l'adore carrément. Black as Time est juste monstrueux je trouve.

Leif Edling revient sur le départ de Robert Lowe, à qui il reproche de ne pas être assez professionnel :
DeadRhetoric.com: The [CANDLEMASS] singer switch last year took some people by surprise, including me. However, I saw you in Cleveland in 2008 and I remember Robert [Lowe] reading the lyrics from a notebook while on stage and it bothered me. Was it a long time coming to make a change?
Edling: I would say that. Robert was not easy to deal [with] and he could have learned the lyrics.
DeadRhetoric.com: He was reading some of the classics. I think the crowd knew them better than he did.
Edling: Yeah, yeah, I know. I would say that after every gig. Still, he has an amazing voice. He's one of the best singers in the world at that. He has a gift from God, but working with Mats [Levén] now — he's a true professional. He can sing every CANDLEMASS song inside out and he can do it as good, if not better than Robert or Messiah [Marcolin], or whoever. These gigs we've done lately have been fucking tremendous. I can't praise Mats enough. Maybe we should have approached him earlier. [laughs]
