Slash — the iconic American rock guitarist, songwriter and film producer — spoke to RollingStone.com about the inspiration for his new song and video, "Beneath The Savage Sun". Check out the chat below.

Slash has partnered with International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) to raise awareness of the slaughter of elephants which is leading to their early extinction.

The U.S.-based charity IFAW works around the world on every aspect of the elephant crisis-on the front lines to stop the killing of elephants, in transit countries to stop the trafficking of ivory and in consumer countries to stop the demand for ivory products.

While on tour in South Africa, Slash and the lead singer of his band, Myles Kennedy, witnessed the devastation of the elephants first-hand and knew they had to act.

"Myles and I went to South Africa a couple of years ago to do some shows and ended up spending roughly the better part of maybe two weeks there," Slash said. "We did a lot going out and seeing a lot of wildlife and whatnot. And when you're there, you get a real feel for how majestic the elephants are and then you learn about the details of what's going on with the poaching there. So [Myles] wrote some really poignant lyrics, written from the elephant's point of view about the death of one of his own comrades. And so when we got back to Los Angeles, we got together and came up with this song, and I thought it would be really great if we could put the music to footage of what's happening with the elephants currently and try and help to raise more awareness — especially in the U.S., but, I mean, globally. 'Cause I don't think a lot of people really know what's going on. I think a lot of people don't know that every time they purchase anything that has even a smidgen of ivory in it, it comes from a dead elephant; that's how they get it. And I think if people were more aware of that, it would have a dramatic effect on the whole ivory trade, because we're one of the biggest ivory customers on the planet."

IFAW's CEO Azzedine Downes expressed gratitude to Slash and Myles Kennedy for calling attention to the current elephant poaching crisis, "To save elephants from this senseless slaughter, we need everyone to stand up and demand stronger protection and we need to help fund action on the ground in Africa and Asia. We are grateful to Slash, Myles Kennedy and THE CONSPIRATORS for reaching out to their fans to share this important message."

Slash - Living the Dream

Message par Everflow »

Entre 2 concerts de GNR, il sort un nouvel album en septembre :
SLASH FEATURING MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS will release their new album titled "Living The Dream" on September 21 via Slash's own label Snakepit Records, in partnership with Roadrunner Records. The group unleashed "Driving Rain" — the first single off "Living The Dream" — today, to radio. Listen to "Driving Rain" below.

Slash describes the creation of "Driving Rain": "This is a riff I specifically remember playing with the guys for the first time at a venue in New Hampshire on the 'World On Fire' tour. It's a cool guitar part we ran though, and from that point forward the rest of the song started to come together in my mind while on the road. We put it all together this year and Myles came up with a great melody for it." Myles Kennedy adds: "The riff is very reminiscent of vintage AEROSMITH. It's got a certain funk to it that's compelling. Lyrically, it's a story about somebody who works on the road — it could be a musician, and it could be a traveling salesman. What makes it interesting is this guy has an addict girlfriend or spouse who continues to relapse, and she ends up getting him to come home. She's miserable and falls back into bad old habits, and that compels him to head back to her to save the day."

"Living The Dream" is Slash's fourth solo album, and third with Slash and his bandmates Myles Kennedy (vocals), Brent Fitz (drums), Todd Kerns (bass and vocals) and Frank Sidoris (guitar and vocals). Today, Wednesday, July 25, the band has launched a physical pre-order for "Living The Dream" including: a limited-edition deluxe premium 2LP yellow vinyl within a premium "Living The Dream" vinyl-size 20 page hardback book, an exclusive one-sided seven-inch single of "Driving Rain" featuring an etching on the B-side with a special set of Slash guitar picks, standard digital and physical CD album, poster as well as a limited-edition t-shirt and hoodie are available.

The band has also unveiled the album cover art and tracklisting for "Living The Dream". The artwork was created by renowned visual artist Ron English.

SLASH FEATURING MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS will release "Living The Dream Tour" on DVD+2CD, Blu-ray+2 CD, 3LP black vinyl, limited-edition 3LP red vinyl, digital video and digital audio on September 20 via Eagle Vision.

"Living The Dream Tour" was shot on location on February 20, 2019 in front of a rabid crowd at London, England's Eventim Apollo. It features Slash and company roaring through a highly charged two-hour set of tracks from all four of Slash's solo albums. The set includes "Call Of The Wild", "Driving Rain", "By The Sword", "Back From Cali", "Starlight", "World On Fire" and "Anastasia". There's a searing live version of "Shadow Life", as well as "We Are All Gonna Die" and "Doctor Alibi", during which lead singer Myles Kennedy switches vocal duties with bassist Todd Kerns. Watch a "first look" of the "Living The Dream Tour" as the band performs "Anastasia" below.

Earlier this year, Slash told Loudwire about the London concert filmed for the live release: "Whenever you do a live recording, all you can do is just wing it. You can hope that that particular show is not going to be the worst one on the tour. Very rarely do you plan to do a live record and it's the most magic show of the whole tour. That's a kind of luck that just doesn't really happen all that often."

He continued: "It was one of the best London crowds that I played in front of with THE CONSPIRATORS, for sure. It was a really great, great, great live [experience], the whole vibe of the thing was great, and it was great that it was at Hammersmith, which is just one of those historical venues. It was a good, energetic show, and I listened to the live recording, or at least some of it, and it's totally raw, and all the mistakes are in there. We don't really doctor any of it, so it's a pretty honest representation of what happened that night."

DVD/Blu-ray bonus feature: "Live In London" mini-documentary, including interview with Slash and Myles, plus behind-the-scenes footage of the tour.

SLASH FEATURING MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS' 2019 worldwide tour in support of their most recent studio album "Living The Dream" continues with the launch of their North American headlining tour through July 15 in San Francisco. The trek will include festival stops at Heavy Montreal in Quebec on July 28 and at Lollapalooza on August 4 in Chicago, Illinois.

"Living The Dream Tour" track listing:

01. The Call Of The Wild
02. Halo
03. Standing In The Sun
04. Ghost
05. Back From Cali
06. My Antidote
07. Serve You Right
08. Boulevard Of Broken Hearts
09. Shadow Life
10. We're All Gonna Die
11. Doctor Alibi
12. Lost Inside The Girl
