Il y a quinze ans presque tous les whisky subissaient cette filtration à froid (genre 99%), maintenant les single malt sont clean (peut être pas en totalité, j'ai pas eu d'infos récentes), et les pures maltes s'améliorent de jour en jour il me semble.

Ouf alors !
Parce que j'ai offert une bouteille à un pote l'autre jour et vu le prix, ça m'aurait fait chier !!

J'ai trouvé ce paragrapge sur http://www.whisky-distilleries.info (super site), rien de plus clair pour l'etat actuel des choses... Mais c'est tout de même plutôt optimiste. A noter qu'ils parlent de singles, donc d'une minorité des whisky. Il est possible que lors du mélange des purs maltes ou des simples le filtrage ait toujours lieu.

"Lors de la mise en bouteilles, il peut rester des résidus dans le whisky. Ces résidus peuvent "troubler" le whisky, et ce phénomène peut rebuter l'acheteur non averti. Pour pallier à ce "problème", les distilleries ont inventé le procédé de filtrage à froid (chill filtering). Le filtrage à froid présente l'énorme inconvénient de tuer une partie des arômes.

Avec la renaissance de l'intérêt pour les single malts, et en particulier pour les single malt avec du caractère, la tendance à abandonner la filtration à froid commence à se faire jour. Pour notre plus grand bonheur..."

En faisant une recherche google j'ai remarqué que presques toutes les apparitions du terme "filtrage à froid" visaient à préciser son absence dans un whisky... preuve que les européens ont compris la leçon.

Chill Filtering (Bad Thing)

I won't chill filter my whiskies. Chill filtering is a cosmetic step taken to keep whiskies from clouding when they get cold. The problem is it strips flavour and texture from the whisky. Whisky drinking is about flavour. So why chill filter? Cloudy whisky is a good sign that the whisky maker wants you to taste everything the whisky has to offer.

Colouring (Unnecessary Thing)

The colour of the whisky you see in a bottle of Compass Box is the natural colour of the whiskies from the casks. Most whiskies these days are coloured with spirit caramel to maintain consistent colour from one bottling to the next and, sometimes, to make them look old. Used properly, it doesn't affect flavour. But whisky is a natural product. So why mess with it?

Je suis bien d'accord pour les grands whisky: rien dedans.
Pur les whisky de base, genre le Clan Campbell ou le JB, servis regulierement en boîte quand tu prends une bouteille, bien sur que t'y mets du coca, car c'est pas tres bon seul, et faut tenir la soirée !
Et pareil en festival, je t'imagine prendre que des whisky pur pendant 4 jours au rythme d'une dizaine par jour

De plus je melange parfois du coca (que je bois jamais seul par contre) au JD car ca donne un goût spécial, autre que le coca-sky de base à la Label 5

Le clan cambel est tout à fait buvable je trouve. C'est ce que je prends pour des fêtes, ça me permet de boire un truc correcte sans doubler le budget, et de ne pas être trop choqué si quelqu'un y met un soda (sinon je pique les bouteilles de mon pere quand elles sont au trois quart vide, ça doute déja plus cher qu'une bouteille de Clan lol). Sinon pour un grand whisky, quand on ne veut pas boire trop, on y verse un peu d'eau, et juste de l'eau, c'est très bien, ça fait ressortir certains aromes. Les spécialistes savent ce que certains whiskys peuvent gagner à être alongés, moi pas.

Metal Insurgence Tour gives back to the Military:

The first leg of the MIT featuring Jon Oliva's Pain (led by Savatage mastermind, Jon Oliva),
Beyond Fear (led by Tim "Ripper" Owens-former Judas Priest and current Iced Earth vocalist), and Chris Caffery's Faces (Savatage and Trans Siberian Orchestra guitarist), kicks of in Cleveland on Sept 9 on day 1 of the World Series of Metal.

In an effort to give thanks to the men and woman of the US Military, the first (10) fans to present valid military ID's will gain free entrance to all shows in the US.
Oliva adds, "This small gesture is one way that the bands can express their respect for the tireless sacrifice that these soldiers endure for their family's and the country. Our military are die-hard metal fans, and they deserve whatever we can do for them"!

Cancellation of Canadian shows

It is with deep regret and disappointment that we announce that the Canadian goverment would not allow the bands to enter into their country and so we are forced to cancel both the Toronto show this evening and the Montreal show on Tuesday night.

We would like to thank the promoters, Stefan and Noel, for all their help in getting these shows together and we'd also like to apologize to the fans for any inconvenience that this may have caused. We look forward to re-scheduling these shows in the next couple of weeks.

A Hurricane Katrina Relief show has been added to the schedule for this Wednesday evening, September 14th.

The show will take place at:

Tickets will be $10 each and a portion of the proceeds will go to help those who were effected by Hurricane Katrina.

Caffery's Faces will go onstage at 8 pm, followed by Beyond Fear at 9:10 pm and Jon Oliva's Pain at 10:30 pm

"AAAAAAAAGGGHHHH!!!!! Attendance was very dismal here in the states.
I must say that I didn't know quite what to expect from these american dates but attendance was certainly less than I thought it would be.
I have to say that it's MUCH more fun to tour in europe than america because of the amount of fans who still like this type of metal. The american crowds were cool and they were into it but it sure feels funny trying to do our full-on metal assault for 50 people. I'm counting on this home-town show on friday to be much better."

The promotion for these shows was non-existant. SMN, Metal Maniacs, JOP, Caffery and Ripper all did their jobs via the internet. It was a jaw-dropping dissappointment to walk into venues like Jaxx and find every other show for the next month plastered on the walls except this tour. Brooklyn was exactly the same thing. Savatage and Ripper have sold out these venues more times than we could count. The fans can't support the shows unless they know we are there. We were simply stunned by the economic stupidity and all arrived home exhausted. "

Un message du batteur, ils se sont bien eclatés en Europe, les fans sont meilleurs qu'aux US, mais peu de monde, tres peu de promotion...
Cependant ils ont pris des bons contacts pour la prochaine tournée.



Greeting's to all!

We have returned home safely, tired, a bit sick with the flu, and with a belly full of kick-ass German/Holland beer...What a joy!

We would like to thank everyone for the great support at these shows. As everyone has reported, Oliva's voice is in the best shape of his career, and the band delivered the Pain/Savatage material with itensity and precision. It is a real honor to play the old-school material and we are having the time of our lives doing it. The Euro-fans are simply fantastic!

We would also like to apologize to the those who were not there. This tour, much like the US, was poorly promoted. While we did see poster's in the venues ect, everyone dropped the ball on promoting these shows with the right information and enthusiasm.

Hardenberg was advertised for months as an "acoustic-show" and everyone we talked to after the show had no idea that we were putting on nothing short of a metal show. Not one venue advertised who Jon was (i.e.- Savatage), or that we were performing more than 60 minutes of old-school Savatage music from the first 6 albums. You could tell by the reaction of the fans that every song we played was a complete shock and happy surprise. The Mountain King is returning to front the band once again, and nobody knew it!....What a shame! It was really sad to walk to talk to the fans as they told countless stories of how their friends thought this was going to be some JOP music and cover songs!.......Ouch!

But we made great progress towards next years release, and our touring possibilities. There were dozens of magazine reviews being written and tons of press/interviews for Jon and the band. This tour was still a great success. Next year promises to be a busy year for JOP....and with the right promotion behind it!

Unlike the US tour diary, which will not be written due to the fact that we have nothing good to say about it, the Euro-diary will be up later this week. It was a great run from start to finish and we hated to leave. Europe is a great place to be and we cannot wait to return in 2006

Il doit forcer à fond elle déraille dans tous les sens sa voix quand il hurle ...

"Believe" me fait toujours remonter l'estomac dans le coeur... ca sort de ses tripes Sa voix peine énormement, il y a des loupés, ca se sent, mais il la vit tellement pleinement, que ca en est encore plus touchant, comme exprimé avec encore plus de douleur ..

Et j'adore !!!!!!!

Si c'est Tilburg d'octobre (et non pas de mai), j'ai eu une meilleure (et plus longue) setlist en mai dernier à Anvers. même sans "Strange of reality"
Par cotnre je ne vois pas quand tu dis que sa voix deraille...Sur album elle déraille pas, c'est sa manière de chanter. Apres en live, je sais pas, je suis tellement à fond dedans que je fais pas gaffe, mais les fois ou j'ai vu (j'ai notamment enregistrer ce titre à Anvers avec mon apn), il me semble pas.
Apres, s'il se déchire comme ça, oui c'est pour exprimer le plus profond de lui et c'est encore plus beau. Je pense que tu parles de "When the crowds are gone" surtout. C'est magnifique

C'est Tilburg d'octobre.
et sa voix part vraiment en vrille.. C'est les seules infos que j'ai trouvé au niveau de ce qui a été joué, je te les ferai parvenir.. tu jugeras par toi même et tu me diras, un live d'Oliva, j'ai jamais connu, je ne sais pas..

s'il était bourré c'est fort possible qu'il chantait faux.......mais ça fait partie du personnage

En effet il est souvent bourré ces derniers temps...
Je croise les doigts pour qu'il nous fasse les 25 ans de Savatage en fanfare en 2007, mais j'ai de gros doutes sur sa santé physique...

Si tout est confirmé, voila de bonnes news !!!
Bon rien pour la France evidemment, mais les fest et les pays limitrophes devraient me voir l'été prochain !

Tour Announcement for 2006

Jon Oliva's Pain would like to announce that they will be joining forces with Dirk Lehberger and Shooter Promotions, from Germany ( http://www.shooter.de ), to handle their European, Asia, and Russian concert booking's for 2006. This is a giant step forward for the band as Shooter Promotion's/Noisegate Productions is connected to most of the major festivals throughout Europe. JOP has become a priority act for Dirk/Shooter along with their other high-profile artists . To coordinate with the release of JOP Chapter 2 in mid-April 2006, the band will kick off promotion for the new album with a series of concerts in Russia, Germany, Belgium , Czech., Greece, Australia, South America and Japan. The band is then scheduled to reside in Germany during June and July and attack the festival circuit. Plans are also taking shape for a 4-5 week co-headlining tour throughout Europe in mid-October. So as you can see, there is alot in the works for JOP for 2006. To all the fans that we could not reach last year,...we are striving to make sure that you are not left out in the cold again! Jon Oliva's Pain announce first round of 2006 European Tour dates:

The first block of shows for the solo-project of Savatage Mastermind, Jon Oliva, have been confirmed along with an appearance at the Bang-Your-Head Festival in June. The band begins recording it's 2nd release on January 2nd, with a scheduled release date for early May 2006. More festival and club shows will be announced in the coming weeks as well as a co-headlining tour scheduled for Nov-December 2006! Fans can expect a continued assault of old-school Savatage classics as well as songs from JOP's first release,'Tage Mahal, and material from the bands upcoming CD.
