Black Lotus ferme ses portes

Ils ne font pas à proprement parler faillite, mais ils arrêtent pour une période indéfinie, repoussant d'autant les nouvelles sorties (dont des groupes comme Cruachan, Crimson Glory, Skyclad ou Chris Caffery en solo). Ca craint
Greek label Black Lotus Records has posted the following statement on their official web site:
"Black Lotus Records announces the postponement of the currently announced titles, for an undetermined amount of time, as it's in the process of reconstruction and on the lookout for new collaborators."
Keith Fay of the Irish folk metal band CRUACHAN — who are signed to Black Lotus — posted a message on the band's web site claiming to have received a phone call from Black Lotus on Thursday (May 18) announcing they are closing their doors and that all bands currently signed to the company are being released from their contracts. Other artists believed to be affected by this development include SAVATAGE guitarist Chris Caffery, plus recently signed acts SKYCLAD, IMPERIA, OUTBURST and CRIMSON GLORY.

Je confirme. J'en ai discuté ce soir avec Kevin Ridley. C'est dommage car ils investissent beaucoup pour leurs groupes mais justement un de leurs investisseurs les a planté alors qu'ils signaient lescontrats juteux de trop. A mon avis ils auraient mieux fait de se calmer niveau signatures.
Pour skyclad =>recherche d'un nouveau deal (mais bon ils ont l'habitude lol). Et puis bon le groupe savait que le pendant négatif au super contrat qu'ils avaient signés avec blr était le risque de banqueroute. Donc bon. Moindre mal. Et puis bon le groupe n'en est qu'à composer le nouvel album donc rien ne presse. Aucune prestation n'ayant été versée ni reçue, c'est une séparation tout à fait à l'amiable.
Ceci dit Black Lotus renaitra de ses cendres mais pas tout de suite.
Ils cherchent de nouveaux investisseurs. Et s'ils en trouvent, ils resigneront sûrement Skyclad.

Pas cool ça, ils avaient peut-être les yeux plus gros que le ventre dans une telle conjoncture...

Je crois surtout qu'ils avaient signé beaucoup trop de groupes vu leurs moyens, et que les groupes en question (du type Das Scheit, Dark Nova, Angel, The Bereaved...) n'étaient pas de première qualité. En plus, ils n'ont pas toujours eu la promo qu'il fallait non plus, ce qui fait que des sorties de qualité comme Varathron, Altered Aeon ou les albums solo de Midnight et Chris Caffery sont passées assez inaperçues
J'espère qu'ils reviendront quand même...

The music business has not been the healthiest ever over the past 10 years. What once was 15 major labels is now two or three major label groups. Thousands have been laid off from work. Black Lotus Records are currently experiencing a situation that MAY be forcing them to close down. I am not 100% sure of the outcome now.
There are a few possibilities at the moment. This would mean I would need to re-negotiate a new deal for Pins. I am already getting calls and emails from labels all over the world. There is also the possibility of a corporate merger between Lotus and another larger company.
In any outcome, my CD will be finished and released in the near future. Hopefully I can keep my October release schedule.
I look at this situation as a positive. Black Lotus will either continue and be stronger with better distribution or I will have a new home with a similar, stronger situation.
Bottom line is Pins is a seriously cool CD and the music will speak for itself whatever the future may hold! Ironic because the title of the CD is about becoming numb to situations like this!

Cette fois, c'est définitif
According to a brief post by SAVATAGE/DOCTOR BUTCHER/TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA guitarist Chris Caffery at his official website, Black Lotus Records "are not going to continue as a label." Caffery released his solo debut, Faces, the follow-up, W.A.R.P.E.D., though Black Lotus Records and was due to issue his new Pins And Needles album through the label in October. He is now shopping around for a new label.
As previously reported, Black Lotus Records issued a statement on May 18th via their official website announcing the postponement of the release of new titles "for an undetermined amount of time as it’s in the process of reconstruction and on the lookout for new collaborators."
