Swedish melodic death metallers DARK TRANQUILLITY have posted the following message on their official web site:

"We can now confirm that we'll be working with acclaimed Danish producer Tue Madsen for the next album. The effort will be mixed in his Antfarm studio, while the actual recording will take place in different premises here in Sweden. Drums will be set to tape at the old Studio Fredman, while guitars, bass, vocals and electronics will be immortalized at Rogue Music.

"The album is as yet untitled, but some working titles (that may or may not change) are 'Blind at Heart', 'The Lesser Faith', 'InsignifiCunt' and 'The Plunge'."

DARK TRANQUILLITY recently completed a North American tour with OPETH, THE DEVIN TOWNSEND BAND and DEVILDRIVER in support of "Character", their highly acclaimed latest album that brought these originators of the famed Gothenburg scene back to the forefront of the genre. "Character", recorded once again at Studio Fredman (IN FLAMES, ARCH ENEMY), has also been praised as their most groundbreaking yet as it retains all of the band's classic elements and thought-provoking lyrical content while blending the perfect amount of unrelenting aggression and melody.

ouais une très bonne nouvelle même, en espèrant que ce grand groupe nous donnera un nouveau grand album

J'espère surtout qu'ils vont faire une vraie tournée en tête d'affiche avec des groupes pas trop merdiques en première partie. En 2003 avec Sinergy, c'était un concert d'anthologie à la Loco

En espérant qu'ils larguent leur bontempi et qu'ils refassent de la guitare...

Chouetten j'aime beaucoup ce groupe que j'ai vu à Paris avec Kreator en 2005...des mecs doués ...et sympas en plus!

DARK TRANQUILLITY recently announced that its next studio album will be produced by Danish producer Tue Madsen. Vocalist Mikael Stanne of the Swedish melodic death metallers DARK TRANQUILLITY has issued the following update:

"I can't believe it... We made it! It's done and there is nothing I can do about it.

"Just got back from the studio where everything is now shipped off to Denmark where Tue Madsen will perform his magicky magic on the things we've been working on these last 7 weeks. I just finished the last vocal lines a couple of days ago and it feels sweet.

"As always with recordings, there is alot of stress and self-doubt, but being in a more than familiar environment in Martin's [Henriksson, guitar] studio (Rogue) has helped tremendously. The recordings have not only been smooth and focused but the overall feeling that we are creating something amazing has really driven us through this. It turned out so different and diverse that the hardest thing for me now is to find a suitable title for the whole thing. How can I sum up in a title something that is everything and nothing, grounded and out there, intorvert and extra-terrestial all at the same time?

"Welll, keep watching this space and I will let you know soon enough.

"Right now I am just so glad it's done. Anders [Jivarp, drums] did a fantastic job grinding and beating (off) in the studio, Micke [Michael Nicklasson] has delivered some really crushing bass, Martin and Niklas [Sundin, guitar] have really outdone themselves with great riffs and truly outstanding solos and Martin B [Brändström, electronics] has poured a lot of misery and anxiety into his soundscapes. Now all we do is wait for the mix, and this being our first time mixing out of house so to speak we are really excited to hear what the hell we've been up to!"

Swedish melodic death metal pioneers DARK TRANQUILLITY triumphantly return with "Fiction" in April 2007, a scorching effort that will undoubtedly add an exhilarating new chapter to the genre's storied history. The album was mixed by the acclaimed Tue Madsen (HIMSA, THE HAUNTED) and encompasses all of the elements on which the band built their career: thought-provoking lyrics, shredding guitar work, captivating melodies and sheer brutality. This offering is perhaps best compared to a modern-day version of the group's revered classics "The Gallery" and "The Mind's I", only with more intensity behind it. The blueprint of melodic death metal is now at your fingertips.

Niklas Sundin (guitars) further describes his thoughts on the new album: "Tue Madsen did a fantastic job with the sound, and the result is diverse and exciting enough to satisfy even the most critical of listeners. The 10 songs are extremely varied and showcase all facets of the D.T. experience while breaking new ground as well as reviving some elements that haven't been featured in D.T. songs since the early years. At the moment, we're putting the finishing touches to the packaging as well as preparing for the recording of the 'Focus Shift' and 'Misery's Crown' promo videos. Directing is once again Roger Johansson, who worked with us on the videos for 'Character'."

In late March 2007, DARK TRANQUILLITY kick off the touring cycle for "Fiction" with a massive co-headlining U.S. run with THE HAUNTED and INTO ETERNITY followed by European summer festivals and a full length tour in autumn, revitalizing the genre they helped to create and further cementing their status as one of the scene's most influential metal bands.

Tiens, je trouve ça curieux comme réflexion. Je ne connais ce groupe que depuis l'album Damage Done et j'ai réuni quatre albums au total, de Projector au petit dernier, même si je ne suis pas trop fan du groupe (promo oblige !), je n'ai donc pas du tout la même perception du groupe qu'un fan pur et dur, ou au moins d'une personne qui connait toute leur disco.

Je trouve au contraire que ce qui leur donne cette originalité, ce sont ces parties de clavier qui ajoutent énormément d'ambiance aux titres. C'est même garant pour moi de l'originalité du groupe, que je ne trouve au final pas bien différent des groupes de death mélodique actuels (même s'ils étaient là avant et blablabla, c'est tout de même le cas). Ils apportent une touche de mélancolie à des titres qui dépotent pas mal à l'origine et leur confèrent également une atmosphère légèrement brumeuse car ils restent suffisamment en retrait pour ne pas non-plus noyer les morceaux de leur présence. C'est vraiment réussi.

Je trouve que l'alliance guitares-clavier fonctionne vraiment bien sur Character. Les morceaux sont agressifs (la voix, les riffs secs des guitares) mais restent ultra-mélodique avant-tout grâce à ces notes de claviers sorties d'un autre monde.

Bref, j'espère retrouver de ça sur l'album à venir.

Mouais... Ben moi je trouve ce groupe mille fois moins yeah!!! qu'avant depuis Projector. A tous les points de vue : musique, attitude, concerts... d'ailleurs il y a qu'à comparer les logos et les pochettes des albums, c'est assez révélateur pour le coup.
Ce groupe me gave vraiment depuis un petit moment. Le pire étant leurs classiques des premiers albums revisités et (pour moi) massacrés sur scène.
Donc pour moi, rien à redire jusqu'à The Mind's I inclus (leur chef d'oeuvre absolu restant The Gallery) ; mais après...

pas du tout d'accord, le coup de dire c'était mieux avant pour DT n'est vraiment pas justifié car si ils sont un peu passés à côté avec Damage Done, Character est un petit chef d'oeuve
On leur demande pas de répéter The Gallery à l'infini car là ça pourrait gaver...et live c'est vraiment très bon, il y a un moment que le père Stanne à laissé sa voix de femme de côté

Bon, le titre est très moyen. J'espère que le groupe aura un brin évolué sur son prochain album.

Ouais ben à l'écoute de ce titre, je change pas trop d'avis quant à l'évolution du groupe. Il y a un truc qui me gêne, et j'ai pas envie de me forcer. Je me fais assez plaisir avec les trois premiers albums, ça me suffit largement.

Ceci dit, il est tout à fait possible que j'ai lâché Dark Tranquillity à cause de la tournée Projector. L'album me plaisait déjà pas, et leur concert m'a déçu, voire énervé (choix des morceaux les plus calmes des premiers albums, nouvelles versions moins "électriques", attitude de popeux...). Le genre de truc qui dégoûte un peu et qui donne pas envie de trop se pencher sur les albums suivants.

ah ouais mais de l'avis des fans et du propre avoeu du groupe, la tournée Projector c'était leur plus mauvaise tournée! T'es pas allé les voir depuis? C'est quand même plutôt pas mal malgré les sons electro

La première fois que je les ai vus, c'était sur la tournée Projector et ils étaient vraiment mauvais. Ils avaient massacré tous leurs titres et donnaient vraiment l'impression de n'en avoir rien à foutre. Ca a failli me dégoûter pour de bon de ce groupe, dont je suis pourtant fan ultime Mais je les ai revus cinq autres fois et je n'ai plus jamais été déçu Le top a été leur concert à la Loco pour la tournée Damage Done, en novembre 2002: l'un des melleurs concerts que j'ai faits Vivement que je les revoie en tête d'affiche
