Swedish "heavy doom progressive" metallers MORGANA LEFAY have entered Soundcreation studio in Bollnäs, Sweden to begin recording the follow-up to 2005's "Grand Materia", tentatively due in late 2006/early 2007 via Black Mark Records. A "studio diary" keeping track of the band's progress has been launched on its official forum.

MORGANA LEFAY recently announced the addition of drummer Pelle Åkerlind (LEDNOTE, ROCK TOOLS) to the group's ranks. The band's latest album, "Grand Materia", was a concept CD about Nicholas Flamel, a 14th-century alchemist who supposedly lived on forever.

MORGANA LEFAY performed at the Chicago Powerfest 2006 in early April at Mr. Kelley's Music Box in Chicago Heights, IL.

L'album s'appelera finalement "Aberrations of the mind", de même que le titre de ce topic


Sweden's "thrashy dark metallers" MORGANA LEFAY have changed the projected title of their new album to "Aberrations of the Mind" from the previously announced "Primal Chaos". According to the band, the new title "better suits the feel of the record as a whole." Set to be released on March 19 on Black Mark, the CD will contain "a new level of aggression while still maintaining the traditional MORGANA LEFAY sound," according to a press release. The album will also feature the debut of the band's new skinbasher, Pelle Åkerlind (BLOODBOUND, LEDNOTE). Two sample tracks, "The Rush of Possession" and "Reflections of War", have been posted on the band's web site, http://www.morganalefay.se. Artwork for the new album will soon be released on the site as well, but will be released piece by piece, as if part of a puzzle, to keep the fans guessing.

On me conseille un titre?

perso, j'ai découvert avec Maleficium le 5ème album du groupe. Concept album sur le thème de l'inquisition et de la chasse aux sorcières, j'ai tout de suite accroché à la voix puissante et incisive de C.Rytkonen(pas sur de l'ortographe )
L'intro est extrèmement angoissante et annonce un oppressant et rageur The Source Of Pain.Les choeurs de Maleficium sont excellents

un album remarquable

Oui, les choeurs sur "Maleficium" sont excellents. A Wacken, on avait l'impression que les Allemands scandaient "mal au phallus" mais c'était terrible De manière générale, cet album est un chef d'oeuvre. Par contre, ce n'est peut-être pas le groupe le plus facile à écouter. C'est pas forcément en téléchargeant un ou deux morceaux qu'on va avoir grave le kiff, quoi Un album de Morgana Lefay, c'est certes du heavy lourd et puissant avec un chant très particulier, mais c'est surtout une atmosphère dans laquelle il faut rentrer et s'en imprégner, après un certain nombre d'écoutes. Par exemple, j'ai découvert le groupe avec "Maleficium", et je n'avais pas trop adhéré au départ. Et puis à force, c'est venu et j'adore cet album (et tous les autres, puisque maintenant, il ne me manque que "Symphony of the damned"), et la voix de Charles Rytkonen me fait bien tripper alors qu'au début, j'avais du mal

le mieux sera encore d'écouter les albums dans l'ordre chronologique, ce groupe se bonifiant à chaque album avec un bemol pour l'album éponyme de 1999 pas vraiment représentatif du true Morgana

il est enfin sorti, je me le suis procuré, et que dire, y a pas tromperie sur la marchandise!
un putain de disque de heavy metal, avec d'excellents chorus!
le chant est toujours au top; des titres un peu plus courts, mais diablement efficaces, et une prod à mon avis un peu séche.
En tout cas, pas de déception

pas mal du tout, en effet la prod surprend au début, on s'y fait mais c'est pas la meilleure qu'ils ait eu... sinon je dirais plus facile d'écoute que le précédent mais moins de hits potentiel. Enfin faut qu'il tourne comme tous les Morgana

Oula pas mal décevant quand même cet album. Il faut que je me force pour l'écouter, c'est dire si c'est pas une bonne cuvée.
La production est vraiment mauvaise, y a pas d'autre mot, la pochette est vilaine mais, ça, on a un peu l'habitude.
Assez bourrin dans le mauvais sens du terme, pas vraiment de passage lourds ou chargé d'émotions.
Pour ne comparer qu'au précédent, y a pas un morceau de la trempe d'un My funeral Is Calling ou, surtout, d'un Emotional Sanctuary.
Je ne pensais pas dire ça un jour mais il n'est pas impossible que je m'en sépare dans quelques semaines.

Dommage, mais s'est toujours un bon album que j'écouterais bien a fond. Mais, ça va J'èspere qu'ils votn fair un long tour quand même!

moi je le trouve plutôt très bien cet album, pas facile d'accès mais je l'écoute encore souvent et sans zapper, alors que le précédent m'avait lassé plus rapidement...

Y a quand même plus aucune dimension épique là-dedans. Je trouve l'album au contraire un peu trop facile d'accès.
Je vends le digipack quasi neuf 12 euros PC. Trade tout à fait envisageable.

merci pour le clip. Effectivement je n'accroche pas à ce Morgana là (bon faut dire que moi je suis un old-school, à part pour Maiden, j'ai du mal quand les groupes évoluent)
Ce titre me convainc de me tourner vers un autre achat.

Le groupe fait un break, chacun s'occupant de ses projets...

Bassist Fredrik "Lubbe" Lundberg of the Swedish power metal band MORGANA LEFAY has released the following statement:

"Yes, we're taking a break at the moment. No one has left the band, so that's not the problem. We're still friends, so that's not the problem. We have several offers from record labels, so that's not the problem.

"So what the hell is the problem?! Well, I can't give you any specific reason, except that we felt like it. And if that's the way you feel, that's what you need to do.

"I can't say how long this break will last, but I don't think that this is the end of MORGANA LEFAY.

"During this break from MORGANA LEFAY, we're all keeping busy with other things. I have a project band with Per [Ryberg] (Studio Soundcreation), Tony [Eriksson, guitar] is working on new songs at home. Peter [Grehn, guitar] is working on songs for his new project. Pelle [Åkerlind, drums] is playing with all of his other bands and Charles [Rytkönen, vocals] is doing the INMORIA thing as well as rehearsing for 'Körslaget' [Swedish TV show described as a new 'Clash of the Choirs' program]. So all you Swedes make sure you vote for the Bollnäs choir. The first live TV show is on TV4 on the December 26."

je l'ai ressorti et j'en suis accroc depuis, comme toute la discographie, ça c'est du groupe mésestimé

Ouais, ils ne connaîtront jamais le succès qu'ils méritent. Après ça, ce n'est pas forcément le groupe le plus facile à écouter non plus...
