Megaforce Records will be reissuing VIO-LENCE's classic debut album, "Eternal Nightmare", with a live bonus CD on June 28, 2005. The bonus disc was recorded on December 14, 2001 at Slim's in San Francisco and was mixed by Chris Hanson (TECHNOCRACY, THE SERVANTS, M.I.R.V., RIVERRED) of Redcar Lane Productions.

Produced by John Cuniberti between February and April 1988 at Music Grinder and Alpha & Omega studios in Los Angeles and San Francisco, respectively, "Eternal Nightmare" sees brutal, speed-thrash riffage collide with a lightning-fast barrage of lyrics. The result: a sonic roller-coaster leaving listeners charged and craving more.

The epic 1988 debut, along with blistering live shows gained VIO-LENCE national tours with TESTAMENT and VOIVOD. One track, "Torture Tactics", was recorded during the sessions but deemed too lyrically controversial for inclusion on the album.

The original, out-of-print version on Mechanic Records is a tough find, especially on CD which fetches sums of up to $100 and occasionally more on eBay. Even scarcer are original Japanese and German versions on Mechanic.

VIO-LENCE's lineup on "Eternal Nightmare" included vocalist Sean Killian, bassist Deen Dell, drummer Perry Strickland, and guitarists Phil Demmel and Robb Flynn (both now in MACHINE HEAD).

Bon ben finalement c'est pas plus mal si le nouveau live est vendu en même temps que la réédition, 'tain ça va savater ce package

La reformation n'ira pas plus loin et ils s'en tiendront à ces rééditions et ce prochain DVD, d'après Phil Demmel :

"All of us former VIO-members want to thank you all for your interest and support of the band. From early days to the final reunion shows, we've always had a very loyal following and owe all the success we achieved to you. The [upcoming] DVD serves as our final release and function as a band. There will be no more re-releases, reunions or re-anything. We had a blast writing and performing for you and once again, wholeheartedly, thank you all for it."

Moi je trouve que c'est un mix entre Nuclear Assault, Testament et Sacred Reich. Le chant est excellent, entre Connelly et Baloff; enfin on a tous notre perception des choses.
Donc pas très original ou novateur, mais sacrément yeah!!!
Je trouve pas ça forcément plus technique que Nuclear Assault... ça joue plus vite parfois...

Ben c'est quand même nettement plus tiré par les cheveux que les riffs punk thrash de Nuclear, et rien qu'à la batterie dans Vio-lence y'a des contretemps et des plans pinés dans tous les sens, 'fin c'est beaucoup plus imprévisible que dans Nuclear Assault

C'est ce que j'aime dans Vio-Lence d'ailleurs, ce côté un peu cinglé et chaotique avec pourtant une belle maitrise. Sans oublier le chant braillard ultra limité de Sean Killian, ses paroles dérangeantes et débiles. Ce groupe avait tout faux pour réussir dans le business, et ça n'a pas loupé, ils ont échoué

Mais ça reste un de mes préférés en la matière.

je connais que "Oppressing The masses", qui est vraiment pas mal, mais je sens que le premier album pourrait me plaire d'avantage

"Eternal Nightmare" est excellent, le reste de la discographie est dispensable

Sinon, il y a pas longtemps, j'ai capté Torture Tactics, et c'est bon !!

Pour le sondage, je dirais Eternal Nightmare, mais Oppressing The Masses est pas moins bon.
Par-contre, je connais pas Nothing To Gain, je crois même l'avoir jamais écouté. J'ai jamais été tenté de l'acheter, alors que je l'ai vu d'occase plusieurs fois : les commentaires de potes m'en ont toujours dissuadé, mais p'tet qu'il vaut le coup.
Récemment, j'ai appris que Robb Flynn était gratteux dans Forbidden avant de rejoindre Vio-lence.
