New Jersey metallers ATTACKER have announced the addition of Walter Figueroa to the group's ranks. Figueroa is the former lead singer of SEVERED HAND (a band that features Sebastian Bach's son on drums) and he recently did a stint as vocalist for 1980s metal cover band SMELL THE GLOVE (which features SEVEN WITCHES and current JOEY BELLADONNA guitarist Jack Frost). Walter Figueroa has also been involved with hard rock band IMPRECARI and progressive rock/metal band PARADOX (New Jersey).

Walter Figueroa's influences include Geoff Tate, Rob Halford, Bruce Dickinson, and Tony Harnell. These influences can clearly be heard in Figueroa's soaring, powerful voice.

ATTACKER states: "Walter came down and did a fantastic job on the material, so we knew we had to look no further. We had several people recommend Walter to us and they were right on the money. We are all looking forward to working on our new album and hitting the stage as soon as possible."

http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu ... =425560227
Former ATTACKER singer BOB MITCHELL recently posted the following update via his MySpace page:

"Hi Everybody!

Well it's great to be back here on MySpace. I just wanted to personally thank all of you for the overwhelming response both here on the "Space" and through your personal e-mails.

I've been quite busy as of late with my work at the hospital and my home life as well. My wife Michelle and I are expecting our baby this December and it's going to be a little girl. After the baby is born, I will return to college and resume with my studies in nursing.

As for music... well... I recorded a single. It's a remake of THE BEATLES song 'Rain'. I had the greatest time doing this so I decided to make an album of Classic Rock songs. Mike LePond, of SYMPHONY X, played bass and Frank Oquendo played all the guitar parts. He also engineered the production of my first single. The album will have the same lineup and Frank and myself will produce it!

Oh and the drummer was actually a machine.

I am so excited about this and it has reminded me why I wanted to be a singer in the first place.

Now here is the important part: 'Rain' will be sold as a single through SNOCAP with all proceeds going to CHARITY. You can listen to it now for FREE on my site but on December 8th 'Rain', in commemoration of John Lennon's passing, will be made available through SNOCAP Only!

Remember all proceeds will go to a charitable organization, that being, The AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION. The album will come out in 2009 and it will be available through SNOCAP and a soon to be announced label as well.

ALL PROCEEDS will go to charity. Being a healthcare professional has made me appreciate life that much more and, aside from providing care for my patients and taking care of my family, I want to give through the gift of song and with your help, we can achieve greatness together, for a good cause.

Thanks to all of you, my friends and my fans! Enjoy 'Rain'!

In Rock, Bob Mitchell."

Former ATTACKER vocalist Bob Mitchell has announced the lineup of musicians who will accompany him for select/limited live performances in support of "Days Gone By", his upcoming collection of remakes of classic-rock tracks from such artists as THE WHO, DEEP PURPLE and LED ZEPPELIN.

The Bob Mitchell live band will be as follows:

Bob Mitchell (BLACK HAG, ATTACKER) - Vocals
Frank Oquendo (DENIM AND LEATHER) - Guitar
Mike LePond (SYMPHONY X, SEVEN WITCHES) - Bass
John Osterman (HANZEL UND GRETYL, ENGINES OF AGGRESSION) - Drums

The recording sessions for "Days Gone By" wrapped on December 27, 2008 at Digi-Force Studio in Bayonne, New Jersey. A photo shoot also took place before the final recording stage with the band's three core members — Bob Mitchell, bassist Mike LePond (SYMPHONY X) and guitarist Frank Oquendo (DENIM AND LEATHER). Plans are also in the works for three videos to be filmed — for the songs "The Seeker", "Rain" and "Stayed Awake All Night". These full-length clips, along with interviews with the bandmembers, will accompany the new album as a bonus DVD.

"Days Gone By", will be released sometime in the spring. Proceeds from CD and digital sales will go to charity, with the beneficiaries being the American Heart Association and the Christ Hospital Foundation.

Stated LePond: "Doing this project was very special to me for three reasons. First... It was a pleasure and honor to work with Bob and Frank. I have known them both for many years, and we are like brothers. Secondly... Doing a CD for charity is rarely done in today's world of greedy politicians and Wall Street CEOs. The American Heart Association and Christ Hospital foundation are in lock step with my values and faith. Thirdly... It's not very often that I get the chance to cut loose and jam some covers that I grew up with. It's a lot of fun, and I look forward to working with the boys again very soon."

The track listing for the album is as follows:

01. The Seeker
02. Maybe I'm Leo
03. No Quarter
04. Rain
05. Child Of Babylon
06. Stayed Awake All Night
07. Tie Yor Mother Down

German metal act SCEPTOR, featuring singer Bob Mitchell (THE BOB MITCHELL BAND, MIND ASSASSIN, ex-ATTACKER, VYNDYCATOR) are set to issue their brand new 7" vinyl entitled Introducing.....Sceptor on High Roller Records in February.
