Notamment afin de contrecarrer les versions bootlegs qui circulent.
Le groupe n'a plus tout à fait le même niveau maintenant je trouve, mais le tandem David Chastain/Leather Leone dans les 80's était au top

Shrapnel Records will reissue the first two CHASTAIN CDs — "Mystery of Illusion" and "Ruler of the Wasteland" — in October. Band founder/guitarist David T. Chastain states: "At long last these will be available on CD as an official release. These CDs aren't to be confused with the bootleg versions that were put out a few years back by a bunch of thieves."

"Mystery of Illusion" was originally released in 1985 and "Ruler of the Wasteland" was released in 1986.

David adds: "I don't think a week has gone by in 20 years when someone hasn't asked me 'When is 'Ruler' or 'Mystery' going to be available on CD?"

The band lineup on "Mystery of Illusion" includes Leather on vocals, David T. Chastain on guitar, Mike Skimmerhorn on bass, and Fred Coury (pre-CINDERELLA) on drums. The lineup on "Ruler of the Wasteland" is the same except that the drums were recorded by Ken Mary, who went on to play with ALICE COOPER and HOUSE OF LORDS, among others.

David states: "In listening back to these CDs I think they hold up very well in the 'classic metal' landscape. We added a couple of never-before-available bonus tracks to spice it up for the fans that have waited for an eternity to get these on CD. At least I won't have to answer again to 'When will they be available on CD?' Enjoy!"

super groupe en effet, hyper prolifique dans les 80's, il sortait pratiquement 2 albums par an !!!!

"voice of the cult" & "instrumental variations" sont énormes !!! j'aime bien aussi "next planet please" un peu strange mais bon...
David Chastain a un jeu de guitare vraiment à part... Il a du talent en tout cas. je crois que son dernier album date de 2004, "in a outrage" avec la chanteuse (Kate french) justement, c'est pas mal, mais y'a un moment que je l'ai plus écouté !

Tiens j'ai jamais écouté les albums "solo" de David Chastain, les disques de guitare ne me branchent pas trop généralement, ils ont une approche de Chastain (le groupe) j'imagine?

Mon album préféré est The 7th of Never, avec les titres We Must Carry On, Paradise et The 7th...mais les autres skeuds sont aussi très forts.
Et je préfère Chastain le groupe à C.J.S.S, Leather est une bien meilleure chanteuse que celui de C.J.S.S.

ouais c'est sur... bon la grosse différence ce que ces albums solos sont essentiellement des instrumentals... faut aimer, c'est clair, mais musicalement on y retrouve la patte Chastain, les morceaux sont un peu moins heavy je trouve et parfois ça peut partir dans tout les sens quoi !!!

mais bon franchement c'est bien foutu dans l'ensemble, l'autre différence c'est qu'avec son groupe il co écrit la plupart des titres avec les musiciens, en solo, il fait tout lui même.
comme metal B j'accrocche moins à C.J.S.S.
sinon voilà son dernier effort solo sorti il y a peu, un instrumental, le dernier depuis "Next Planet..." sorti en 1994 :

Ok, je crois que j'aurais du mal à apprécier car la voix de Leather compte beaucoup pour moi dans le style de CHASTAIN, elle était tellement au-dessus du lot.

Les bonus de la réédition du premier album, très maigres :

En plus, c'est parfait pour la saison, en automne, on adore se faire griller des Chastaignes près de la cheminée !

le 2éme album "ruler of wasteland" est sorti, j'avais loupé le 1er mais pas celui là !!! ça fait vraiment plaisir de reécouter un album d'une telle trempe !!! je pensais que mon préféré était "Voice of the Cult" mais à l'écoute de morceaux tels "Fighting to stay alive", "angel of mercy" ou "Children of Eden"

Sinon le digi est vraiment léger, même pas de livret à l'interieur les commentaires de Chastain sur l'album (un topo général sur l'album et son enregistrement et "un titre par titre" ou il livre des détails techniques) sont imprimés direct sur le carton, ça aurai été cool de mettre quelques photos de l'époque par ex... enfin bon achat impératif pour les fans, même pour ceux qui ont les vinyls ce qui est mon cas.

Une bonne tuerie ce Ruler c'est clair!

Une compilation des albums avec Leather au chant vient de sortir, mais sans grand intérêt pour moi au vu de la sélection discutable des titres...

la pochette est pas mal, par contre c'est bizarre de sortir ça, les reéditions des premiers albums est pas si éloignée que ça, d'ailleurs le label devrai plutôt continué dans ce sens je trouve, au lieu de faire des complils très discutables effectivement.
