Comme pour toute reformation, ils préparent le DVD documentaire historique qui va avec :
Reactivated New Jersey metallers WHIPLASH will release a 25th-anniversary DVD in late 2009 entitled "25 Years Of Thrash". According to the group, the disc will feature "true stories that cover the band's history with Roadrunner Records and beyond, 1985-1990, 'Power And Pain', 'Ticket To Mayhem', 'Insult To Injury'; The Massacre years, 1996-1998, 'Cult Of One', 'Sit Stand Kneel Prey'; 'Thrashback'." It will also include rare concert footage, photos, interviews, backstage footage and much more. "25 Years Of Thrash" will also "take you back in time, hands on the mixing board in very raw setting as the band shares their experiences of the writing and recording of some of the greatest WHIPLASH albums released to date."

In other news, WHIPLASH has released the second in a four-part series of video blogs (see below) documenting the making of the band's new album, "Unborn Again". The clip was shot at the Concrete Island Studio.

Due in early 2009, "Unborn Again" will see guitarist/vocalist Tony Portaro reuniting with drummer Joe Cangelosi once again after 19 years. The album is being produced by Portaro who recently completed his studies with Rick VanBenschoten and Susan Nuziata at NYU.

Portaro remained the pillar of the band while the lineup went through many changes over the course of their six full-length CDs, including "Cult Of One" in 1996 and "Sit Stand Kneel Prey" in 1997. During that time, Cangelosi supplied the drumming on "Cause For Conflict" for Germany's premier thrash band KREATOR, which was released in 1995. Portaro handled the guitar work for Billy Milano's M.O.D. on a European tour in early 1998 with drummer Tony Scaglione, inviting the return of the original WHIPLASH lineup for a reunion CD entitled "Thrashback".

Portaro comments: "We owe this long-awaited breath of fresh new material to our fans. WHIPLASH stays true to their roots with the power-thrash riffs and double bass that broke us into the industry."

WHIPLASH is a three-piece power trio hailing from New Jersey. The band was assembled back in 1984 when Tony Portaro and Tony Scaglione joined forces, recruited Tony Bono on bass and released their first CD, "Power and Pain", in 1985 on Roadrunner Records. The debut CD was followed up by their first live performance at Ruthie's in Berkley, California with POSSESSED and DEATH ANGEL.

WHIPLASH's current lineup:

Tony Portaro - Guitar/Vocals
Joe Cangelosi (ex-KREATOR) - Drums
Rich Day Bass (ex-PRIMAL SCREAM) - Bass

Reactivated New Jersey thrashers WHIPLASH have issued the following message:

"Pending legal issues are hindering Whiplash from continuing any and all performances.

We are thankful to all who have followed the band throughout the course of our journey and deeply regret having to make this announcement. The pride and life that you have breathed into us over the years will never be forgotten. No one will ever take that away.

Thank you so much."

ça devient compliqué à suivre, puisque il y' a un nouveau changement de...batteur !
New Jersey thrashers WHIPLASH have once again parted ways with the group's original drummer, Tony Scaglione, and have replaced him with Dan Foord of the U.K.-based metal band SIKTH.

Commented WHIPLASH guitarist/vocalist Tony Portaro: "Tony [Scaglione] and I were really looking forward to working together once again, but unfortunately there are personal issues in his life that arose which take priority. Fortunately, I was able to contact Dan Foord with the help of Ben Ward of ORANGE GOBLIN and Nathan Perrier of ALABASTER SUNS, LABRAT and CAPRICORNS.

Nouveau titre en écoute : http://officialwhiplash.bandcamp.com/
Veteran New Jersey thrashers WHIPLASH have released a new song from their upcoming EP titled "Old School American Way, Volume 1". The single, "Sword Meet Skull, Skull Meet Sword", was produced by WHIPLASH mainman Tony Portaro at his Concrete Island Studio. All drums were recorded and engineered by Kostadin "Mozart" Kamcev at Studio Mozart in Clifton, New Jersey. The single was mixed and mastered by Chris "Zeuss" Harris of Planet Z Recording (ALL THAT REMAINS, CROWBAR, MUNICIPAL WASTE, SUFFOCATION).

With Tony Portaro (guitar/vocals) and Dank DeLong (bass) on the U.S. East Coast, and drummer Dan "Loord" Foord located in London, U.K., the band has been juggling writing and recording in between touring.

"Old School American Way, Vol. 1" track listing:

01. Sword Meet Skull, Skull Meet Sword
02. Red Tape Riot
03. Prophet of Lies
04. Dead Man Calling
05. Power Thrashing Death *

* A re-recorded, remixed, remastered version of WHIPLASH's classic song from "Power And Pain"

"I am very confident that this record will be seen as the return to the thrash core that WHIPLASH started out doing," Portaro said in a recent interview.

He added: "WHIPLASH now has a strong foundation with Dan 'Loord' Foord [SIKTH] — one of the best drummers in England — and Dank De Long, a solid bassist from New York that makes WHIPLASH thrash harder than ever."

WHIPLASH is a three-piece power trio hailing from New Jersey. The band was assembled back in 1984 when Portaro and Tony Scaglione (drums) joined forces, then recruited Tony Bono on bass.

"Unborn Again", the latest album from WHIPLASH, was released in 2009 via Pulverised Records.

Nouveau batteur pour le groupe :
Veteran thrashers WHIPLASH have parted ways with drummer Dan Foord and have replaced him with Charlie Zeleny. Charlie will make his live debut with WHIPLASH on June 22 at Dingbatz in Clifton, New Jersey.

Tony Portaro, guitarist and founding member of WHIPLASH, first witnessed Charlie Z in action with Joe Lynn Turner's band, blowing the roof off Dingbatz, located in Tony's hometown.

Foord left WHIPLASH to focus on the reformation of his former band SIKTH, plus his new band KROKODIL, as well as his drum teaching and touring obligations. His last show with WHIPLASH will take place on July 25 at the Headbangers Open Air festival in Germany.

Charlie Z has toured/recorded with Joe Lynn Turner, BEHOLD THE ARCTOPUS, BLOTTED SCIENCE, SUSPYRE and Jurgen Blackmore, among many others. He has played with Jordan Rudess (keyboardist of DREAM THEATER) and has performed drum duets with Terry Bozzio for The Drum Channel.

Roulements de tambour, retour de...Tony Scaglione.

Si le line-up tient jusqu'à l'an prochain, on devrait avoir une flopée de concerts 30 ans "Power and Pain".
