Faut qu'il pète un coup le Schmier, même s'il n'a pas forcément tort.
On sent comme une bonne pointe de rancune envers Sodom, ça ne serait pas la première fois qu'il y a embrouille entre Angelripper et Schmier si je me souviens bien, notamment il y a quelques années à l'occasion de leur tournée commune avec Kreator...

C'était parti d'une raillerie de Angelripper qui disait fièrement que Sodom n'avait jamais arrêté lors d'une interview à l'occasion de leur tournée commune à 3, avec un gros sous-entendu comme quoi Destruction eux avaient splitté pendant longtemps. Puis Schmier avait répondu assez sèchement sur son forum si je me souviens bien, ça avait escaladé, puis d'autres petites conneries comme ça avaient suivi pendant quelques temps.

Et aujourd'hui si on lit entre les lignes les mots de Schmier plus haut, on voit bien qu'il n'est pas forcément le meilleur pote de Angelripper & Sodom, en particulier quand il parle des égos et aussi de la mort de Chris Witchunter.

Bon ben ça y est, Schmier et Destruction annulent. C'est quand même dommage de se prendre la tête pour un concert hommage...
Et Kreator ne sont pas sur l'affiche car la date entre en conflit avec leur tournée déjà planifiée.

German thrashers DESTRUCTION have cancelled their appearance at the "Chris Witchhunter Tribute Concert", which is scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 11, 2009 at Turbinenhalle in Oberhausen, Germany. The event will honor late SODOM drummer Chris Dudek (a.k.a. Witchhunter) and will feature performances by SODOM, TANKARD and ASSASSIN, among many others.

According to a posting on the SODOM MySpace page, DESTRUCTION vocalist/bassist Marcel "Schmier" Schirmer wasn't "satisfied with the flyer and poster design [see below]. Regrettably, this discontent had also been discussed on the DESTRUCTION message board and thereby word spread to other forums too. Via e-mail, Schmier let us know that he doesn't want to be 'a support act' with DESTRUCTION and that we 'are supposed to look for someone else!' instead. We regret their decision. There will be a replacement for DESTRUCTION, which we're going to introduce next Monday, January 19th, 2009!

"As this festival's initiator, SODOM furthermore want to point out the basic idea behind this event again: We'd like to arrange a worthy farewell for Chris Witchhunter and still we also want to raise money for his mother. The event shall be a peaceful and untroubled party for every thrash metal fan.

"There's another topic that has been discussed on various forums too: 'Why don't KREATOR take [part in the concert]? Do they think they are too good for this?' If you have a look at KREATOR's tour schedule, you'll see that the band is on tour at this time. This is the reason why they can't take place! Well, this is a pity, but their tour had been planned a long time before the Chris Witchhunter tribute show."

Franchement, le père Schmier il devrait prendre du recul, j'ai l'impression qu'il a plus les pieds sur terre, et ça se ressent en concert. Genre pas content quand le public est pas assez enthousiaste à ses yeux...
De toute façon, c'était pas la présence de Destruction sur l'affiche qui m'attirait particulièrement, donc tant pis pour eux.

A noter quand même qu'on n'a que la version de Sodom ici, pas (encore) celle de Destruction.

Même si Schmier aurait pu prendre sur lui-même et laisser pisser pour une fois, ça ne l'aurait pas tué...

To cut down rumours about the cancellation of the Chris Witchhunter Tribute Show, we need to speak out the truth about the non-professional behaviour of the so-called "promoter".

Destruction agreed to play for free, without any of the normal demands on this charity event, the only demand was a professional poster. After that the wanna-be-promoter took the band off the bill. No communication with the band or the agency, nothing!

This decision was beyond the band's control and will only hurt the fans and Chris' relatives.

As a matter of respect for our dead friend, we will not fight this senseless decision in public. The event is a good thing for Chris and his family. Chris would turn over in his own grave, after such a stupid act. Destruction apologizes for this brainless decision of this wanna-be-promoter. Support Chris and his relatives!

Donc en gros Sodom disent que Destruction ont annulé, et Destruction disent que Sodom les ont viré de l'affiche Si promoteur est bien Sodom eux-même (c'est ce qui était sous-entendu à un moment mais je n'en suis pas sûr).

Maintenant, qui dit vrai, qui dit faux...

D'ailleurs c'est con qu'on joue le même jour parce qu'une affiche comme ça ça me tentait bien (même si c'est loin de Paris l'Allemagne )

Commented Schmier: "If this phone call would have happened earlier, all this painful confusion would have never taken place. SODOM and DESTRUCTION have both been on tour lately. I guess that did lead to a couple of misunderstandings that are all solved now!

"There was never any intention to argue about this event in any case! Tom and myself have a friendship since 25 years. The lack of communication via third parties did lead to some turbulent misinterpreting.

"I would like to point out, that we have moved our North American anniversary tour to play at this event. It was always very important to us. We have confirmed our participation already in late 2008. As some may remember, Chris toured with us before on the 'Eternal Devastation' tour in 1986 when our drummer Tommy left the band. Since that day we were real mates!

"I hope that now, in behalf of this important event, all rumors and speculations will stop and we can pay tribute to a great lost friend.

"Sorry about the confusion. I guess we have all learned once again how important good, educated communication is.

"I need to thank Tom from SODOM and Rob from ASSASSIN for their encouragement.

"See you at the show, folks!"

Chris Dudek reportedly died on September 8, 2008 around 6:00 a.m. due to vital organ failure.

SODOM bassist/vocalist Thomas "Angelripper" Such previously stated about Dudek's passing, "As we recorded 'The Final Sign Of Evil' [2007 LP featuring re-recordings of the material from SODOM's classic first EP, 'In the Sign of Evil', plus bonus tracks], I noticed that Chris was in a very bad condition. It took more than 18 months to finish the recording for this record.

"After Chris had left the band, we didn't meet very often. If you take a look at the 'Lords Of Depravity' DVD, everybody realizes that Chris was really ill and confused. You can also understand why Chris and I didn't have much contact during the last few years. His sickness was a slow process and everybody saw what happened — but Chris never took a helping hand from anybody else. All of Chris' friends will tell you so. The worst thing was that Chris himself never realized the situation he was in and that it was important to accept help from others.

"I hope that all of Chris' friends will help his lovely mom and support her in these dark times. In the beginning of our friendship, she was like my own mom to me. . . I hope that we can arrange a big show for Chris with a couple of friends to give him a special farewell and to make some money for his mother."
