Guitarist Andreas Kisser (SEPULTURA), vocalist Tim "Ripper" Owens (JUDAS PRIEST, BEYOND FEAR, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, ICED EARTH), drummer Jimmy DeGrasso (ALICE COOPER, MEGADETH) and bassist David Ellefson (F5, MEGADETH) will be touring Chile January 22-27 for five very exclusive shows under the collective name HAIL! Their set list will honor their own genres of metal as well as the classic music that inspired their careers.

Ellefson states: "Metal music has been our life and even our livelihoods. So this will be a cool opportunity for us to perform some of our favorite songs together for the fans and pay homage to the movement as a whole."

Owens says: "Now this is about having fun with some friends, and just playing some fun, kick-ass metal! I can't wait to have a few beers with my friends in Chile!"

HAIL! is expected to perform tracks from MEGADETH, SEPULTURA and JUDAS PRIEST along with classics from AC/DC, BLACK SABBATH, DEEP PURPLE, METALLICA, VENOM and IRON MAIDEN.

The dates are as follows:

Jan. 24 - Concepcion, Chile - Havana Club

Commented Ellefson: "We gathered in Athens, Greece this past weekend for our first run of shows in Europe as HAIL! Jimmy DeGrasso, Ripper Owens and I flew from the USA (Ripper home for only a few days after his Yngwie tour of Japan with DEEP PURPLE) and Andreas met us on Sunday after his SEPULTURA show at the Hammerfest in Wales Saturday evening.

"Me, Jimmy, Abba (HAIL! manager) and our friend Ilias Papadikus ('TV War' theme composer and all-around Athens metal good guy) took in some sights at the famed Acropolis early in the day on Sunday, followed by some muchneeded jet lag rest and recovery. We then headed to soundcheck to prepare for the show.

"Media from MTV, Rock Hard, Metal Hammer and more were present for backstage interviews which led straight into a slam-fest set of metal for the evening. A relaxed and fun set of songs established a feel-good tone for the night, which was followed by the after show VIP meet-and-greet.

"Greece has always been a special place for metal and it was great to be back in their presence and hospitality once again, this time with HAIL!

"Off to Istanbul, Turkey."

Addressing the constant question of why HAIL!'s intention is to play the far-off reaches, Ripper explained, "Our goal is to play everywhere. We want the opportunity to personally say hello and have a beer with every fan on the planet." DeGrasso added, All of us grew up in smaller cities and just because we didn't have the same chance to see our favorite bands play locally doesn't mean it affected our love of music any less — in fact, it made our passion that much stronger. When we did get that chance, it was a special event and we appreciated it that much more. Sure, it costs a lot more money and time to travel to some of these places, but the reward is hopefully making a dream come true and providing an exciting experience that you will never forget. The fans have been super-appreciative of our efforts to play for them, and we will do our best to honor and return the respect they have generously shown to us."

HAIL!'s five-show Chilean tour kicked off on January 22 at Rock & Guitarras in Santiago. The band had its January 23 concert at El Huevo in Valparaiso, Chile professionally filmed, although it's unclear if there are any plans to release the footage.

Powerhouse American vocalist Tim "Ripper" Owens (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, BEYOND FEAR, ex-JUDAS PRIEST, ICED EARTH) has told Michael Gallucci of the Cleveland Scene that bassist David Ellefson's recent return to MEGADETH may force HAIL! — which also features SEPULTURA guitarist Andreas Kisser and DREAM THEATER drummer Mike Portnoy — to go on hiatus.

"It puts a wrench in things," says Owens, adding, "We're not sure for now" whether the planned HAIL! shows in March and April will go on. Says the singer, it's not simply a matter of finding someone who can play headbanger favorites from MOTÖRHEAD to METALLICA. "It's a matter of whether the promoter wants it. They [want] a name-all-star metal band. We could fill the position, but not with a name nobody knows. We talked to some people, like Frank Bello [from ANTHRAX and HELMET]. And anybody's who's a name is busy."

Regarding Ellefson's reunion with MEGADETH, Owens says the HAIL! members are just as surprised as the rest of the metal world.

"I gotta be honest," says Owens. "I'm over the moon that he's back in MEGADETH. I think it's a great thing for MEGADETH, for Ellefson, and for [Dave] Mustaine. Everybody's happy for David. It's just bad timing."

En même temps, un groupe de reprises comme ça n'a aucun futur, à moins d'avoir quelque chose de spécial et différent des autres. C'est pour le fun (et un peu d'argent).

Ripper devrait plutôt se concentrer sur sa carrière solo à mon avis, s'il ne veut pas devenir comme DiAnno un jour...

C'est le bassiste de Slipknot qui va remplacer D. Ellefson:

HAIL!, the supergroup featuring mainstays Tim "Ripper" Owens (BEYOND FEAR, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, ex-JUDAS PRIEST, ICED EARTH), David Ellefson (MEGADETH) and Andreas Kisser (SEPULTURA), has announced its newest all-star member — Paul Gray from SLIPKNOT will be the new bass player for the band's upcoming European and Asian dates.

"With David Ellefson going back to MEGADETH, we needed someone to help fill-in for him as we had a lot of dates scheduled," said Owens. "We all knew Paul and it was actually Andreas who suggested him first. They had worked together pretty extensively during the 'Roadrunner United' show so it just seemed like a very easy and natural fit."

Kisser's response? “YEEEEAAAAHHHH! This will be f'ing great!!"
