Primal Fear - 16.6

Nouvel album prévu en mai.
PRIMAL FEAR have checked in from the studio with the following update:
"A very long recording period is finished now and we're all very satisfied about the result. We've recorded nearly 80 minutes of music and finally 14 songs plus some introductions. Now after two days without any mixing, decisions, fresh air and sleep, it looks like we've created the most sophisticated and diversified album of our career.
What can we say, the music includes a lot of the vibe of our very first albums like 'Chainbreaker', 'Running In The Dust', 'Nuclear Fire' or 'Metal Is Forever' - some real dedicated traditional metal! But a new Primal Fear album always contained some new musical challenges, real suprises ... and a lot of fresh and new elements this time!
We are working on the final tracklist at the moment and we will master 16.6 with Ted Jensen at the Sterling Sound NY in early February. More news on the final song titles and the release date soon!"

Ca m'emballe pas vraiment, ce retour aux sources des premiers albums. J'avais au contraire adoré la direction musicale prise par le groupe sur les deux derniers albums. J'espère que les "surprises" annoncées seront une prise de risque identique !

C'était prévisible, vu que le dernier album a apparemment fait un bide (déjà que le groupe a dû changer de maison de disques après Seven Seals, si mes souvenirs sont bons). ça fait chier en tout cas, même si j'suis pas fan du dernier, mais j'ai beaucoup aimé Seven Seals.

les compos "audacieuses" du dernier m'avaient déroutées.
elles étaient tres bonnes mais trop éloignées du style,d'ailleurs sur ces chansons on retrouvait des compositeurs extérieurs.
dur ,dur le grand écart sur ce "new religion"avec ce mélange des compos trad et modernes.
un retour en arriere ne me dérangerait pas !

Primal fear a toujours fait partie de la seconde division du metal, un peu a l'instar de Hammerfall/
Le concert du groupe qui m'avais fait bien tripé fut celui du Wacken en 98 quelle baffe dans la tronche
Ralf a l'époque était beaucoup moins monsieur propre

Non, Hammerfall a été promu en première division dès le début! Ils ont été relégués au troisième album, et je les vois mal remonter... Pour Primal Fear, les trois premiers albums avaient quand même bien marché. En 2001, c'était Children Of Bodom qui faisait leur première partie et pas l'inverse. Par contre, c'est clair qu'ils n'ont jamais pu aller plus loin...

mieux vaut un bon groupe de seconde division qu'un groupe de premiere moribond !
je conseille leur DVD,avec un show de wacken et un autre de la tournée "black sun",tres dur apres visionnage de les comparer a des seconds couteaux tellement c'est puissant et bien exécuté!
j'ai un boot de la derniere tournée et ca envoit toujours sévere en live !

Sinon la division on s'en fout, c'est la Bundesliga qui compte !

faut voir ce que ça donne, j'ai pas du tout aimer le dernier alors que "seven seals" ou "devil's ground" sont plutôt cool, en tout cas j'acheterai pas les yeux fermés, le dernier album m'a bien refroidi...

Pour ma part, j'ai beaucoup aimé le dernier, new religion!
L'alliance de compos mélodiques avec d'autres plus pêchues et propres au style traditionnel du groupe m'a bien plu (hormis le titre avec Simone Simmons, assez banal et commercial). Seven seals m'avait aussi séduit, ce qui était moins le cas des albums précédents. J'attends le prochain avec curiosité en tout cas!

Guitarist Henny Wolter commented on several of the tracks that appear on "16.6: (Before The Devil Knows You're Dead)":
* "Riding The Eagle": "[This track] is bringing back that 'Nuclear Fire' vibe with a full speed double-bass groove and those typical heavy guitar riffs and high-speed twin leads that PRIMAL FEAR stands for. Above all, it's that mix between full-throttle metal and melody with Ralf Scheepers powerful vocals on which PRIMAL FEAR built their reputation."
* "Six Times Dead (16.6)" : "The title track and a super-heavy guitar riff, stomping groove with a new approach and a message to the fans; 100% PRIMAL FEAR!"
* "Black Rain": "A nearly seven-minute epic with big instrumentation, and a heavy Arabian atmosphere. Lots of variations and sophisticated playing and singing. This song strongly carries the handwriting of the new bandmember Magnus Karlsson, who is known for these skilful and tasty arrangements."
* "Under The Radar": "Another traditional PRIMAL FEAR speed rocker, a hymn with the classic Scheepers vibe."
* "Torn": "Seven minutes of pure music and the most ambitioned song and riff we've ever recorded. Killer stuff, very groovy and a great melodic vocal line."
* "Soar": "Pure energy combined with a driving groove, a majestic halftime chorus and a great experimental breakdown part — one of my favorite tracks on the new album."
* "Hands Of Time": "This will be a real surprise for everybody. There is always at least one track on a new PRIMAL FEAR album that is different — this time it's 'Hands Of Time' with four guys sharing lead vocals. A very cool song!"

"16.6: (Before The Devil Knows You're Dead)" was recorded at House Of Music studios in Winterbach, Germany with Dennis Ward and Achim Köhler. The CD marks the group's first release with guitarist Magnus Karlsson (ALLEN/LANDE, STARBREAKER), who replaced Stefan Leibing last year. Returning guitarist Henny Wolter and Karlsson participated in the songwriting and pre-production, which took place at Karlsson's Stuntguitar Studio in Sweden. The band spent four weeks at House Of Music recording the effort, which was mastered by Ted Jensen at the Sterling Sound in New York City.

c'est dans la progression de new religion au niveau du style... J'attends de voir le reste. Je n'ai pas trop accroché à la prod de new religion, on a ici une prod assez proche de new religion.
