Progressive metallers FATES WARNING will play a handful of shows in Europe this summer, including a support slot at DREAM THEATER's August 2 concert at Terra Vibe in Athens, Greece.
Commented guitarist Jim Matheos: "We're looking forward to playing in Europe again this summer, particularly Headbangers Open Air in Germany and, of course, returning to Greece for shows in Athens and Larissa. These will most likely be our last shows before beginning work on a new FATES WARNING [album] for 2012, so we hope to see a lot of you there."

Ray Alder a écrit :Just an update.. After five days of recording here in New Hampshire I've finished six songs so far... SO much work, but I've enjoyed every second of it! ( Well, almost every second...)
I cannot tell you how incredibly psyched I am for this new Fates album... Every song seems to get better than the last. Also, European tour dates will be coming soon.. I've never been to Israel before.. Hmmm...
Going home to L.A. tomorrow, it'll be good to rest the voice and see my friends.. Next round of recording coming very soon.. Until then, peace... Kirk out.

L'album a été produit par Jim Matheos, mixé par Phil Magnotti, et masterisé par Maor Appelbaum (Yngwie Malmsteen, Sepultura, Anvil). le visuel de la pochette est l’œuvre de Conte di San Pietro.

In other news, Fates Warning have also announced that guitarist Mike Abdow will be filling in for Frank Aresti on the next scheduled tour runs, as other work commitments will keep him from the upcoming tours.
Frank Aresti: "Being part of Fates Warning continues to be a great honor for me, and I'm very proud of Darkness In A Different Light. Even though work commitments will keep me from the upcoming tours, I'm hopeful to rejoin them for live shows in the not-too-distant future. Having said that, I know Mike Abdow, he's a great player, and I'm looking forward to seeing him with the band."
Mike Abdow: "It is an incredible honor for me to have the chance to play with Fates Warning. Filling in for Frank Aresti is an immense and exciting challenge that I do not take lightly. I am really looking forward to the upcoming tour with the band!"
Jim Matheos: "With the exception of a few years in the late 90s when he was AWOL, Frank has been an integral part of FW's live sound for 25 years, so his presence is going to be missed on the upcoming tours. At the same time, we look forward to working with Mike and we're all excited to finally be playing some new material."
Trop prog pour moi, sur l'album cité plus haut j'ai pas eu cette impression. 
Oui cet album est vraiment très sympathique. Pas tout à fait dans le même style que Spectre Within mais on sent bien l'esprit de composition de l'époque avec une approche plus moderne.Everflow a écrit :Ouaip le groupe a énormément évolué, et ne joue quasiment plus son ancien répertoire.
Si tu veux quelque chose de récent et moderne mais (relativement) moins éloigné de ce que tu as entendu dans Spectre Within, tu peux toujours jeter une oreille sur l'album (projet parallèle) de Arch / Matheos.
