Ronnie James Dio, chanteur de heavy metal et de hard rock américain, qui avait fait notamment partie des groupes Black Sabbath et Rainbow est mort, dimanche, à l'âge de 67 ans, a annoncé sa femme. "Aujourd'hui mon coeur est brisé. Ronnie est mort à 7h45 le 16 mai", a déclaré cette dernière sans préciser les causes de la mort de son mari qui souffrait d'un cancer. Dio, né Ronald James Padanova à Portsmouth(New Hampshire, nord-est des Etats-Unis) avait joué dans les années 50 avec les premiers groupes de rock. Au milieu des années 70, Ritchie Blackmore, guitariste du groupe britannique Deep Purple, l'avait engagé dans son nouveau groupe, Rainbow. En 1979, Dio avait rejoint Black Sabbath en remplacement d'Ozzy Osborne. Conforme à la tradition des hurleurs à longue tignasse, il était devenu célèbre, dit-on, pour avoir popularisé le signe des cornes que font avec leurs doigts tous les fans de métal dignes de ce nom dans les concerts du genre.

I'm not writing at the moment. I'm working on a Ronnie James Dio tribute show in Bochum, with some friends of mine. July 12th, it's for charity. One half of the income will go to Ronnie's Stand Up And Shout Cancer fund and the other half will go to a German cancer fund. I think it will be good to help keep his memory alive. I just got a reply from Doogie White (ex-RAINBOW). He will be part of it."

, perso ce qui me gène c'est qu'ils pourraient au moins reverser les fonds pour la recherche contre la cancer .
