Le groupe norvégien de death/black avec Samoth (Emperor) dans ses rangs a officiellement splitté.

"After taking an offical break over two years ago, it has now become the reality that Zyklon is no longer a functional band, and thus the decision is made to formaly split up the band, instead of just letting it decend into nothingness.

As a final release from the band, Candlelight Records will later this year put out a boxset, entitled "The Storm Manifesto", including all three full-length albums with various bonus material.
Zyklon played its final show in Tokyo, Japan on the 28th of September 2007.

All members of Zyklon are still active on various fronts. Samoth is currently in the studio working on the debut album for his new project, The Wretched End. Destructhor is still touring with Morbid Angel, and is still planning to complete a new Myrkskog album with Secthdamon. Trym is mainly working in his tattoo shop, but is scheduled to appear in a new music project soon."

A la base ils s'appelaient ZYKLON B. C'est clair que ce nom est plus que nauséabond...Lors d'une de leur dernière interview, ils expliquaient qu'ils avaient gardé ce nom "ZYKLON" car cela veut tout simplement dire CYCLONE.

Moi je trouve ce groupe vraiment excellent !! je connais que les deux derniers albums et c'est une pure tuerie....

Je crois que je suis tombé sur une interview d'eux une fois qui m'a fait marrer où ils disaient qu'ils étaient les meilleurs et que tout les autres groupes de black à côté c'était de la merde etc..., en tout cas bien cru et bien fier comme discours. A moins que je confonde avec Satyricon.

Je vais faire l'avocat du diable mais je pense qu'il est préférable de ne pas les juger trop vite sur leur nom, même si je comprends qu'on ne le voit pas de cette façon. Bien sûr le mot est associé à un gaz qui a servi à quelque chose de terrible, c'est de très mauvais goût, mais a priori le groupe ne l'a pas choisi pour cela. J'y vois plus de la bêtise et de la négligence qu'une quelconque revendication.

The name Zyklon is still stirring reactions from media and distributors. Do you always feel the need to clarify the name and the connections that come with it? After all, it really is "cyclone" in German.

Well, let’s not blow this out of proportion. There have only been a few slightly narrow-minded journalists who apparently have some issue about the name. I don’t really feel the need to clarify anything. But anyway, let’s go over it once more. Zyklon simply means cyclone! The name represents a massive, intense, destructive force, as in the natural phenomena of a tornado. This is symbolic of our musical expression - an aggressive force of energy! If people still decide to see a "war reference" in the name, that reference would simply represent the extremities of human madness. Simple as that! People often go banning people for what they think they believe in, and are too quick to point fingers. You never know, some day it might be you!

Samoth disait aussi regretter ce choix de nom, à cause des proportions que ça a pris. Cela reste de sa faute mais je mets plus ça sur le compte de la négligence stupide et la naïveté que sur une tendance nauséabonde. Le résultat est de mauvais goût quand on le découvre, mais ça n'a pas forcément plus de signification que ça à mon avis.

Cela me fait penser qu'un groupe comme Tiamat, que personne n'oserait soupçonner de quoi que ce soit, s'appelait pourtant Treblinka au début de sa carrière, ce qui est encore bien plus explicite et malsain à mon avis que Zyklon. Comme quoi...

Je pense que c'est plus de la grosse provoc qu'autre chose, EXODUS - il me semble - portaient bien sur scène les fameux t shirts "Hitler european tour"
